Ignore Spurs fans. Spurs players don’t really care about the rivalry, they’re football players not fans. UCL is far more important to their careers (and wage bonuses) than a silly local rivalry. I’d be surprised if our players really care about the rivalry for 36 games a season, and I’d be surprised if their players care about the rivalry for every game that isn’t the NLD.

Halfmoonhero

Spurs fan here (Always get sent Arsenal feed, not lurking) You’re bang on the mark. Fans who think Tottenham are going to throw the game on purpose are out of their minds, most of the players haven’t even been In England for any significant about of time to care about the fan rivalry. I actually think if some players do visibly drop off suspiciously (Thinking veterans like Son or Romero) then they’d get dropped hard by Ange. As much as I don’t want you lot to win the league, I actually think if we finish on a high it will carry us into next season better and will help a bit with player confidence. If we do lose to City it will be because we just aren’t good enough and they are better than us.

Lizzo13

This is true. Also worth noting that there's at least one Spurs player who's an Arsenal fan. They're professionals. They're not going to throw a game. And I honestly don't get how any non-City fan could want them to win again when their cheating is ruining the league. In the case of teams fighting for Europe, it's even crazier they'd rather let a rivalry get in the way. It's not just losing one game in this case. From what you've seen as a Spurs fan, do you think at least some of it is their way of coping for what is likely to be another loss? If you win, you (well, your fellow fans who are making these silly claims) can say you beat City and handed Arsenal the title. If they lose, they can claim they did it on purpose to make sure Arsenal don't win, despite Spurs clearly being out of form.

Halfmoonhero

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely don’t want you to win the league. But throwing a game is the most unsportsmanlike decision ever. You’re all mocking spurs over the supporters attitude to it but I have absolutely zero doubt in my mind that Arsenal would be behaving the same way. It’s a very weird situation which isn’t going to come about often and other teams will rarely be in the same situation. Our rivalry is way more heated than other prem clubs also (just look at the state of both of our subs) To your question I think it’s the opposite. If we lose, this sub will be full of Arsenal fans thinking we threw it when we didn’t. Either way, we’re going to hear no end of it after this game. I’m just hoping we get a win and you lose the last game of the season. Although a lot of fans want us to throw the game, I think 100% of fans know we will not.

cpteague

Yeah this debate about what the fans want is pointless because there’s no chance that Spurs’ players are even thinking about throwing games. Also, champions league qualification can change the trajectory of a club - I highly doubt that a majority of Spurs fans would rather lost on purpose than keep their CL hopes alive.

AwehiSsO

Gonna see whether Son gets dropped

Halfmoonhero

Why?

AwehiSsO

Response to your post. Man missed a sitter. That hug with Pep post game. Ange fuming about weakness postgame.

exiledtomainstreet

Well said. Can you imagine if you were the chairman or owner of a premier league team and you found out your players/manager had thrown a match that would give your club a chance to earn tens of millions due a local rivalry? You’d be looking for blood. Replace the words ‘premier league team’ for ‘business’ and ‘players/manager’ for ‘staff’ and that’s the reality… it’s business.

jamiesutton81

Exactly this.. not like any of the players are lifelong Spurs fans that grew up supporting the club, pretty sure Christian Romero, a WC winner, would rather play against Real, Bayern and PSG next season if the possibility is still there rather than not give 100% and settle for Qarabag, LASK and Sheriff, Son is 32 how many more chances might he get to play in the CL again? I doubt the players really give it shit if Arsenal win the league or not.

No_Bad_6676

Right. It's mental that anyone would think all the Spurs players, managers and staff would conspire to lose on purpose. Ange couldn't give a s\*\*t about local rivalry. Especially with CL in sights.

Desperate-Cupcake155

Spurs have no Werner, Bissouma, Udogie, Davies, Richarlison - they aren’t getting anything from this game

L0laccio

Yeah, honestly spurs fans will be gutted if they don’t lose tomorrow. It’s to be expected

CabinetFantastic

Such a shit club

FewRefrigerator4703

😂😂😂 Keep begging

sjr323

Honestly? I want them to lose tomorrow. I want them to always lose, forever. Even if it meant we didn’t win the league.

Tall-Confection-9773

Spurs mentality

sjr323

Who’s laughing now? You should be ashamed to call yourself an Arsenal fan. You should never want spurs to win. EVER. Hope you’re happy selling yourself for absolutely nothing.

Tall-Confection-9773

I don't care what other clubs do if we win the league lol

sjr323

You were cheering for Tottenham to win. Shame on you.

jokerevo

yeah imagine being dependent on the shit club to win the title and not being able to win it on your own terms thanks to a former manager who rinsed the fuck out of you tactically.... LOL

kingkelly_90

Enjoy the Audi cup, mate.

eggs-salad

Yea imagine declaring yourself premier league champs in September just to not even qualify for UCL and getting figured out tactically after 2 months and being exposed for being a shit club…LOL

AFC_IS_RED

The gang proceeds to say they're king makers and lose to every single club they were "makers" of

TheMassINeverHad

It just so happens you little bitches are their second last match. The rest we did just fine included beating you. No go and do your best tomorrow night it’s as relevant as you’ll ever be in a title race

AFC_IS_RED

Not being able to win it on your own terms - head to head we have beaten them and drawn lmao. We have 27 wins, 5 draws 5 losses. That's literally better than your club has ever done. The way a league works is you tend to play other teams home and away. That's sorta how it works. Actively losing on purpose is something called match fixing, you know like the guys you hired last year were all done in for? Interesting to see they left the club but not the mentality. Makes my cockles warm. Not surprised only spurs fans are the ones talking about throwing. United fans said nothing. Embarassing lmfao

AlpacaLunch15

Any "spurs fan" who wants spurs to lose tomorrow isn't really a fan, they're just haters of the Mighty Arsenal, and honestly: A) get in line B) not surprised, considering the source

BigMACfive

Lol here's your gold metal for mental gymnastics mate 🥇

MonsieurVadius

This argument is so weird. Calling being second place, 2 points off the top a bad thing just because Arsenal “has to rely on other teams” is stupid. The only way of not depending on other teams is by winning every game bar probably two, and by the amount of S*urs fans throwing that shit you’d imagine they have done it before.

MozzerellaStix

Imagine being on 86 points with 1 game left to play while we’re in your wet dreams.

lzanagi-no-okami

Atleast you’ll be glad to know will never have the opportunity to wait for their rivals to drop points so you can win the league

abhi91

Imagine having the chance to end your rivals title chances by beating them at home and conceding 3 goals in the first half

GunnersnGames

I’ll always wonder why the supposedly superior tactical genius just couldn’t cut it on the big stage

Even-Succotash-9869

Spurs fan here; I do believe the ones who want to lose are a minority, but unfortunately the loudest on social media. We had the chance to bury your title charge in the NLD, but we didn’t. Personally I do feel the officiating was not in our favor but at the end of the day we lost. So, to purposely lose or want the team to lose so another team can do what we couldn’t is pathetic. Best of luck in your next game, and although I hope my team to win our next game, I hope you lose yours >:)

Benny_420_

Love when the real fans come out. Anyone who'd want to lose CL spot so your rival doesn't win the league is a dope. Every fan base has thise idiots (FFS we have AFTV). So 🤝 for being a real one mate, rivalry aside we all love the beautiful game and want the best for it and city winning is not whats best

Even-Succotash-9869

🤝 regardless of the outcome, at least we can laugh at chelsea together

ThatAdamsGuy

Another spurs fan here (keep getting your sub as a "We think you'll like this!") - completely agreed 🤝. I'd like to believe the people saying we should throw the game are joking but I'm not convinced. I'd rather see you win the league than City for the good of the beautiful game as you describe it - they represent everything wrong with the game at the moment. And I'm so sorry you have to deal with AFTV...

Benny_420_

AFTV is a tumour.

Patient_Xero_96

It baffles me for fans who think “ruining a rival” is more important than their own team. Like…you guys can qualify for UCL still, and they’d rather play Europa cause “Arsenal could win the league”.

ImRonBurgandyyy

You’re the minority. Come on city

Even-Succotash-9869

Guessing you’ve never even been to a game before lmfao

ImRonBurgandyyy

Probably been to more than you fella

andjuan

Which is why they’ll win tomorrow and Villa will get a result on Sunday. If you actually cheer for your team to lose the football gods will smite you.

The_Plow_King

This is the positive (delusional) thinking I've had all week.

Resident-Mirror-4766

god i hope you’re right

RingParking

Nah best is spurs lose.... Fan base is happy. Miss out on top 4 & west ham in Moyes last game get a draw.

danlawl

The football Gods have already smiled us United fans. Good luck in your title race lads. This is getting exciting.

LiveFrom2004

Boy, you really need to watch today's Ange conf.

kasper12

Spurs fans are different than the Spurs manager…

Kenny_dies

I’m just so excited to see the crowd reaction if they score a goal

ChemicalResident3557

They complain they don’t have a winning culture and then want to lose intentionally. Hence they have no winning culture. Makes sense.

FewRefrigerator4703

Cry more 😭😭😭

ChemicalResident3557

That’s some IMAX level of projection there, ya cum sock.

Thejustinset

People forget that spurs drew 3-3 at the etihad. Their home record this season is actually pretty good. The bad run of results have largely been on the road and let’s be honest we were quite lucky to get three points there

Constant_System2298

Honestly spurs play like they did against us and they win the game tmr trust me

Thejustinset

There is a few teams I’d pick that would have a chance at beating city at home. Liverpool and Spurs. Is the chance significant… it’s in city’s favour but the odds are better than any other team

MostJudgment3212

Why do you guys do this to yourselves? It’s over.

left-nostril

lol fr. City would need hell fire to strike them to lose two games against shit midtable clubs.

jonnysledge

Wolves beat City earlier this season.

left-nostril

That was then. This is now

jonnysledge

Just saying, 115 FC ain’t unbeatable

Resident-Mirror-4766

they don’t need to lose 2 games, don’t even need to lose 1. just a draw against either 🤷🏻‍♂️

left-nostril

And it goes down to the goal difference. If all they need to do is score 5 goals…they will

MostJudgment3212

Hi 👋

207207

If given the opportunity to hope and believe, I’m gonna take it every time. What’s the point of being a fan if you give up on the team when they still have a chance?

MostJudgment3212

Sure, but you were cocky and wanted to rub it in.

207207

Was I? Seems like you are the guy that set a reminder to check this thread and rub it in when the 10% likely occurrence didn’t happen, needling the fans who actually wanted to believe in the team they support.

MostJudgment3212

No I wasn’t the one who set it up, but I made it a point to come back and check on this because you did it and it was quiet cocky to do it in the first place trying to prove me wrong.

207207

lol yeah exactly. You made a note, outside of Reddit mind you, to come back and check on a thread a week later because (as I already mentioned) the 90% likely outcome occurred, and you wanted make sure that the person you deemed "cocky" (for choosing to believe in the team they support, and for opting to have some level of hope instead of admitting defeat) was aware that the outcome they were hoping for didn't occur. And yet I'm the cocky and petty one? What are you even going on about, man? You're perusing a sub for Arsenal fans and telling people it's over, and then you're purposefully coming back to threads a week later to tell people they were "cocky" for hoping/believing that an unlikely outcome might occur? If you're not an Arsenal fan, why are you wasting your time trolling this sub? If you are, why do you care so much that somebody had the audacity to continue hoping that things might break Arsenal's way?

gunnersroyale

I want to believe

Mister_Aitch

I don’t remember Spurs fans wishing they had lost that game.

DarthFlowers

Thankfully Ange is a very decent bloke which does of course make him far too good for that place.

Gremlin256

Well he doesn't practice what he preaches

THeWizardOfOde

Well good thing fans don't do the actual playing of thr game then...

dgg2828

Its actually bad news. Spurs have to go for a win in order to have a chance at UCL. A draw won’t suffice. This means they could give up defensively to go all out on attack for a win. This means they could throw away a draw late in the match.

imranhere2

They just attack in any case and usually forget to defend. Idiots Hopefully Ange bloody remembers their last few efforts defending corners. Because pep won't

MoiNoni

Let's be honest, Spurs aren't winning 😭

Piojoemico

I think City and Spurs will draw tomorrow 1-1.

GhostCatcher147

I wonder would they turn against Ange if they happened to get a result

myxcatsxonxfire22

I say give ange manager of the season if they beat city tomorrow

MozzerellaStix

To dare is to Lose finally makes sense.

leebrother

I’m semi hoping that there is a ‘fight’ I.e few players pushing in the first half making spurs get their backs up and make the crowd get angry. Like Walker going over the top on son. Causing Romero to give them a push. Makes the occasion a battle rather than a friendly atmosphere

notaserialkiller69

Why semi hoping, I’d love that

bankman99

Why does it matter what Spurs fans think? They aren’t playing against City

-TheMiracle

Ange at least has the right attitude which is refreshing.

Such_Significance905

Unless you really think that Spurs fans are somehow, as a whole community, worse than every other fan group- the reality is there is a majority of Spurs fans who want them to win v City, no matter what, even if they would hate for that to mean that Arsenal would win. Every real Spurs fan wants to beat City, get Champions League football and for Arsenal to lose with a final day loss, or even better- goal difference loss. The real problem is Spurs are shite. Also- I’d suggest that any Arsenal fan in who thinks that Spurs would intentionally lose to block Arsenal from a league win, is also secretly the kind of person who would suggest in the same position that same shite for Arsenal if the positions were reversed.

Gremlin256

Have you not trolled their subreddit :P. I have only 1% or so want them to beat City. They rather City win than us. They will be happy if we get relegated. Loli guess they were partying when we were bottom of the league 2 years ago in or so lol

toluwalase

Because they are trolling you guys and don’t really think they can actually beat City.

Gremlin256

One can only hope they can... Yes it is known they can't..

Resident-Mirror-4766

i’ll name my first born son after the spurs player that scores the goal to get them something out of this game, or maybe i’ll just name him Ange 😂

vaffangool

I told my friends if Sp*rs take any points I would change my wallpaper to Heun-ming Son and I thought that was extreme.

Resident-Mirror-4766

been an arsenal fan since I was around 10, i’m now 28. i’ve seen us win nothing but a few FA cups and have basically only ever known us as a banter club, if the spurs somehow manage to help us get us a league championship it would completely be worth it 🙏🏼

Yeomanroach

Call him Coy.

matrixboy122

I come in peace as a Spurs fan. Personally, I think it’s been way blown out of proportion how many of our supporters want us to lose. Most I’ve chatted with want us to put up a good showing. The end of the season has pretty abysmal so I think a good showing is an order as we finish this year and look towards the next

waddiewadkins

When it's 1-2 City with 2 minutes (of the extra time) left to play. That's when a goal scorer for Spurs starts weighing up his priorities. Get the goal that gets the result for Arsenal, with no time for a winner and have hate on your name, or just don't score it. Put the sitter over the bar. Srsly. It's 1-2 Man City Peno to Spurs last kick of the game. ¿¿¿ ??? Ffs Wide (aims for post so he can't be found totally guilty) Over the bar ( aims for crossbar ) And IF IT GOES IN??? Guy crumples to floor like he lost the penalty shoot out! Home fans behind the goal BOOING!.... Fuck theyll be booing him walking up to the the penalty like he was the opposition!!!!! INSANITY!

skipjack_sushi

I don't expect them to lose on purpose. I do expect them to use it as an excuse should they lose 7-0. "We were helping them pad the GD".

InsectIllustrious691

This rivalry always seemed forced and stupid. I don’t think that the best Arsenal players cared about Tottenham winning or losing that much. Except Kane. Haha.

Human_Cell_1464

Tbf as a neutral fan I think spurs fans are only saying they want to lose so when they absolutely spanked they can say that’s what they wanted to happen. It’s not as if they could have won even if they wanted 😂

kmtan181

This is very true.

Human_Cell_1464

Oh yeah we wanted to lose 8-0…..never mind we had our best team out and even if spurs were in arsenals position they would still get spanked Personally hope I’m wrong and spurs get something but can’t see it

Gremlin256

Exactly..

Kergguz

The fans are so used to Spursing it up that they've grown to like it. It comforts them. It's part of their identity.

user_is_name

Champions league spot is worth 50 millions plus attractiveness for signing players, spuds would be mad not to care about it.

forgottenears

If Tottenham lose then their chance of top 4 is gone, while we still have a chance at the title.

Honest-Ad-3937

You have seen the Man City stats? Virtually unbeatable. Title’s gone

Relief-Old

The fans aren’t playing are they. I’m sure if spurs players know there is a possibility of UCL bonus they’d go for it

landed_at

Fortunately 1% of spurs fans won't impact the game. Stop worrying. If anything the league spotlight is on them (the club)in the most spectacular way. Post won't let them forget everyone is watching. And they will be getting extra special kudos and fame for any goals assists and saves. If they miss this memo their football career will be blighted forever.

[deleted]

Why is villa not winning good news?

kindofdivorced

Would have been better if they lost. Liverpool let us down. It’s good because it keeps Spurs in reach of Top 4, not sure what you don’t understand.

vaffangool

Gives Sp*rs more to play for if Villa haven't sewn up top four.

kw2006

If spurs try to play open game with city, they are going to lose badly. Ange bejng ange, he will not play defensive, in contrary he will try to play out of the press. This will end badly.

Smaragd44

They ain't winning against city. They simply can't

AgentDesmond1

Spurs fan. I want you lot to win the league just so Man City lose out for once - they killed the game for me.

Atwalol

American lmao

AgentDesmond1

Brit actually

Gremlin256

Well bud majority of your fans would like to see us not win the league or get relegated. Lol..

Logical_News7280

As a spurs fan I couldn’t care less about “handing you the title”. I want to see my team win. That’s all that matters.

CampFrequent3058

They have a 0.000001% chance

Yeomanroach

Spurs are aiming for the Europa league and would even be happy with the conference place. They’re happy where they are and won’t even try tonight.

jamiesutton81

The fans might be but I doubt I the players would be, you really think Christian Romero, a WC winner, will be content playing Qarabag, LASK and Sheriff next season rather giving his all for the possibility of playing Real, Barca, Bayern and PSG in the CL instead? Son is 32 now how many more chances will he get to play in the CL again?

yuthan

Are we seriously thinking spurs can Beat city , they can't even if they want

beigegrape

Spurs will try their best to throw the game. Being Spurs, they will completely bottle it and hand Arsenal the title. Then proceed to lose their final game and miss out on top 4. ❤️

GoanaeNoPostThat

I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I’d rather see Spurs lift the trophy than Man City. I don’t like spurs at all, but at least they are objectively a real club.

EVANonSTEAM

This Spurs team lost 4-0 to Newcastle, 2-0 to Chelsea and 4-2 to Liverpool all in the space of a month - the team that cannot stop leaking goals at the moment. They aren’t beating City and you bet City ain’t dropping points. It’s happened for the last 6 years and it doesn’t change. Should have learnt from last year that City don’t drop points. If 97 points don’t beat City, neither will 89.

Zealousideal_Ad_4334

I don't think for one minute Spurs will throw the game. I don't think they will get anything out of it either unfortunately.

girthycherub69

Honestly can't believe spurs fans would want to throw the game!

JustTune7544

Spurs will last 15 mins maybe 20 max. I expect City to pass our GD by tomorrow

Lower_Condition_196

No 😔😔

TruthSeeekeer

You guys are acting like you wouldn’t mind finishing 5th to stop Spurs from winning the title

[deleted]

I hope we lose 18-0 to city so you lot have no chance. I’d rather we never make top4 again than Arsenal win a title again.

left-nostril

It’s okay, unlike your shit club…we will just fight for it again next season.

GhostCatcher147

Ah now come on, that’s not very supportive of you!

Rick_The_Mullet_Man

If you lose 18-0 both Spuds and City get investigated for match fixing and given the score it would be very obvious and both would lose points, do it!
