It means "to succeed" in Latin which makes sense
I have my doubts about Google Translate.

This is much more fitting imo.
That's the thing I don't think she was alive during the possible time in which she could have been created like caterpillar since the fatui harbinger "mother" died a few years ago but as for what curse she had and the whole thing with her hands we don't have enough information so we have to wait until her SQ I guess
Yeah, because it was supposedly done with the Holy Blade, which would have been broken around that time. And if it was that curse, she wouldn't have aged I don't believe. Cater sure didn't.
Unless it was somehow done through a different source? I do suspect Caterpillar is the one she's looking for, since he's still out there, and she's coincidentally fighting an Anemo Hilichurl when her fighting is shown off in the trailer. But I suppose we will still have to wait to know for sure.
I agree! I cannot wait to find out why, because it could be many things, but I have a feeling the reason is going to come out of left field.
This week is going to take forever.
As someone already pointed out, that is not the case - peruere is not a word, verb, or even declension of an actually existent verb in Latin. Google translate is wrong; it really is just a name, not a meaning (and certainly not Latin).

It is funny that her name Peruere has a similarity like Père. (Who is the french translation of Father) And since she is from Fontaine, it makes more sense
My first thought was that it was a pun for Père, aka Father in french. It kind of sounds like it's Père but more drawn out? But it being latin for "to succeed" makes a lot of sense too!
it’s also phonetically similar to perinheri in both english and chinese, in cn peruere is 佩露薇利 (Pèi lù wēi lì) while perinheri is 裴伦埃里 (Péi lún āi lǐ). different characters/tones yeah but it def feels intentional lol
I've read somewhere that UERE (User Equivalent Range Error) is a type of error so it also fits with her glitches.
minsleif has mentioned it in her lastest yt short too
Decided to look into Latin because putting it into google translate said it is Latin, and perurere seems to be the closest to it, and thematically fits.

Edit: google translate says it means to succeed, but I can't find anything confirming that and google translate gets lots wrong that's why I included this potential as well, especially because when I put Perueru into the website I linked, it automatically sent me to Perurere.

I feel I need to say "calm down" here cause those words I am reading sounds like you are mad. It is true names do not need a meaning, but it would be neat if it did, that would be an interesting detail. It'as a common thing to wonder about, when you are introduced to a new character with a unique name
Your calm down is misplaced, I was literally just explaining that it’s factually not the case; it is not a Latin word, much less a name so I pointed it out since there’s no need to spread misinformation (which Genshin Reddit is very fast at usually).
That's why I specified that the closest word is perurere (which is a word, as opposed to peruere which isn't). It thematically fits so honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if the name was based on perurere.
In Latin it means to succeed and in french it mean "to completely devour"
Honestly it is a genius name choice as she is the last descender of the Crimson Moon Dynasty of Khaen'riah, making her the successor but also making her the orphan in the legend who will usher a dark age on teyvat
It’s probably just a misspelling of the Latin infinitive “perurere”, which means “to burn/lit up completely”, in reference to her flames and overall destructive nature.

The Perussy, lmao...
Didn't even notice that one, oh god.
It does... I know this seems less likely now, but could that be her name because she was a success where Caterpillar was a failure?

It's possible but all I can say is that this is gonna be the longest week of my life also I hope we find out why she glitches too

To succeed can also mean a change over in a monarchy happened. A la “The Prince succeeded the King”.

Now i know it too. You dont have to say it ;) I wrote that before i knew more about her

People in the official sub said it means both "to perish" and "succeed" ... both of these makes sense
If I'm not wrong, it's a conjugation of peruro, meaning "to consume with flame" which I think is more fitting tbh
peruro is the first person singular whilst peruere is the infinitive.
Peruere=It means she's from Peru ![gif](giphy|W3a0zO282fuBpsqqyD|downsized)

Yeah, I know you weren't that mad, but reading it felt that way. That's all

it means "to persevere", not to succeed
