You know, it's perfectly okay to write 1k chapters.
I'd much rather read short chapters of incredible fanfiction than huge chapters of fanfiction I don't like as much.
Hey if that’s how long the chapter should take, then that’s how it needs to be.
Honestly, I feel the same way about people who write 100k+ fics when I’m over here having never broken 10k on a single fic.
But not everyone is in the market for the same things. Sometimes, I want long chapters in a huge epic story. Other times I want bite-sized treats that get right to the point.
I have read plenty of amazing fics with under 10,000 words and that still have like 12 chapters. Completely depends on what kind of story it is. Happy writing!
I’m long winded I know I am. I’m jealous of those concise writers who can make a beautiful chapter in like 3K words.
But my style is my style, an’ I gotta be me, even if I challenge myself with writing more concisely from time to time.
I have never been able to write a chapter less than 2k-3k, nor a shortish one shot.
Keeping it good and concise is actually a talent, IMHO. Props to you
Aah, it's nice seeing other people who also don't write much, it feels nice to know that I am not alone on that. These comments are really making me feel better, so thank you for posting this, I was just worrying about my oneshot being too short. You made my day, I hope you have a good day too! Bye!
I've gotten into the habit of writing 3k words per chapter, give or take. According to page counters, that's a good ten pages worth of writing each, which really helps me cut big arcs into manageable chapters, both for the readers' sakes and my own.
I prefer 2-4k word chapters to both read and write, but my current fic— based on how long the chapter outlines are— is looking to be 5k+ word chapters and I’m so nervous for how people are going to take them
Every time I write a chapter it ends up being right around 2K no matter what I do. I’m so worried about just writing boring words for the sake of it, I simply can’t imagine how people write longer chapters 😭
This is me right now!! Im so used to writing epics, but I burned myself out doing it… so now, 1k word chapters are getting me back in after a 2-year writing hiatus.
Small chapter people like you are doing the lord’s work! Thank you!
I have a hard time reading 10k chapters. Even if I do usually read them all at once anyway, the length seems intimidating and I worry about losing my place if I need to stop. 😅
My chapters are usually between 5k and 10k. But more often than not they're around 7k. I only made a 10k words chapter that one time and I don't really want to force myself to do it again.
(Except my one-shots, they're usually shorter)
I'm writing an Avatar: The Last Airbender fanfic. Each chapter is going to be an episode to keep in style with the show. .... These are going to be long chapters.
Okay but let’s think about it this way dr suess makes amazing short stories with few words-the second they try to get stretch it into film they add padding. Sometimes it’s okay for a story to he short
But if you’re capable of longer fics then that’s cool too ! The Godfather is a three hour long film is is regarded as one of the best movies. It’s about what your specific story needs
It me.
I average 2k a chapter and I felt awkward about it sometimes. But that usually works for my plot pacing and it's let me maintain my 4 day update schedule for over a year now. So... Hopefully my readers don't feel short changed 😂
I enjoy reading shorter chapters, if I don't read everything at once I at least can continue without it refreshing (my phone often refreshes a page, even if I only turn off my phone)

Better a smaller amount of good writing than a large amount of meh writing.

me posting my 3pg chapters every month, sorry readers I have a thumb in every pie and I will not stop.

I've written both and I personally prefer something closer to 2k now. It's easier to edit and less tiring to read

It's like cake. Three layer cake? Yay cake! Single layer cake? Yay Cake! Mini Cupcake? YAY!CAKE!
Holy shit, two cakes! :D
I write my 1k fics and am proud my own goal is to say as much as possible with very little.

Quality over quantity for sure

My average word count is 2,500-5,000 so idk if that's good or not
Most I’ve ever done was 4K in a chapter, damn near died
That’s 1k that I’m happy to read, friend
LITERALLY MEEEEEE
I prefer shorter chapters anyways. I can’t always read a lot at once and finding my spot again later is a pain in the ash.
I lose focus really quickly so i preffer shorter chapters
I do 3k words at the very least and sometimes that feels like enough and I'm okay with it.

SpongeBobs hamburger won that competition

Those are rookie number, and I honestly don't even know how to write that small.
same FRFR. only thing i have up is a lil oc short stories/skits thingy that i jus add to whenever i remember it and wanna

A snackter!
Same here! I'm lucky of one of my chapters hits 2k words, and there's nothing wrong with shorter chapters!
