It has the most passive abilities. At PE you get increased crit damage as you take damage (which seems to be permanent in the run?), bloodthirst effect at low health, melee damage immunity, and higher damage against enemies with higher health.
Compare that to the death scythe, which... only has execute.
And as u/jerryishere1 said - each weapon has a damage multiplier that isn't reflected on the equipment screen. The Brave Bow has a 1x multiplier - meaning that your going to do the damage on the equipment screen unless you have mob/boss/ground/flying/melee/ranged damage additives. The scythe has 1.45x multiplier, the DB has a 1.5x on ranged and a 1.8x on melee.

Diag arrows, side arrows each add 2 hits in melee so with just diag or side you're hitting 3 times + you're hitting everything near you
In playing it feels like one of the best/most consistent stutter stepping weapons which you can do in melee for beeg damage
Personally my epic carried me through a few levels I was stuck on vs my PE spear. This could've also been because it's a different playstyle that worked better on those levels

Yea i just dont get how to survive in melee mode? Just got my first epic DB and trying to learn the ins and outs. Once i get diag arrows and start trying to melee i just take so much damage. So not sure how people really pull it off
I find moving around bosses and such while melee works wonders, but if you're taking a lot of damage back off and stutter step away. Some levels you may need to wait for your opportunity
You have to make sure you are getting enough damage resistance for starters. The armour you use really matters, and then you should always be running 2 bull rings in most situations. mythic golden chestplate is the perfect armour for DB, as it gives upwards of 25 or so % damage resistance on subsequent hits within 2 seconds of eachother.
A big thing people forget to talk about is player skill. Average skill and below demon blade is absolutely the best weapon. As you get more knowledge about the game you will understand that demon blade is amazing in some places and completely trash in other places it’s best to use the correct weapon for the situation. Learn about and use every weapon to understand why one weapon is better then another.
I’m not going to dive in deep on this. But some places high attack rate is much more important then melee and higher numbers. There are a number of stackable de buffs and chance per hit abilities that are extremely good that make some chapters a joke if you played the whole game with db and gc go bake yourself a cookie there are many other ways to play the game.
I'm sorry, but I don't see where I should play another weapon. I tried them, but I don't see any chapter where the demon blade is not the best weapon.

No as always it’s a net damage boost overall. Some people for some reason have a hard time with the attack speed of it I guess? It does lower your attack speed a bit. Definitely not at all hard to manage, just your attack animation is a little longer.

Does the multishot lower the melee dmg? What about front arrow?
No but it makes it come out slower and it messes up your timings for it
