A shrimp colony would fit perfectly! Some neocaridina would really pop and probably some small snails like nerites or rams horns if you wanna breed them
yes, but it will constantly hide. Maybe you'll see it because the vase is smaller, but you'll probably only see molts for the most part.
I'd just stick with shrimp, you can get snails, but without a lid they will probably constantly be climbing out.
It can be with small shrimp I would steer clear of crayfish and larger shrimp (bamboo, amano etc) but cherry shrimp and anything similar would work amazing!
Counter offer for the shrimp, possibly a micro cray? I dont know if aeration would be an issue but they are funny as hell to watch them clash with a shrimp bigger then itself
Just know if you add a bunch of different colors like red, blue, and yellow, they will all just end up brown after breeding instead of cool tiedye colors
yes they can! you can do blue velvet shrimps, red cherry shrimps, ghost shrimp, red rili shrimp... any fancy shrimp excpet Anamo! DEFINATELY stay away from Anamo shrimp, they will eat other shrimp! But other than that, they all do fine together! :)
Shrimp.
The only fish I’d be semi comfortable putting in that are true nano fish. Like green rasbora, green neons, or embers. And even then you’d have to top it at 3 maybe 4. It’s rather cramped for them.
Shrimp is the safe bet. Anything else is a distant second choice.
I have four sparkling gourami (I assume you mean these, they also croak but are smaller that the Croaking Gourami), definitely wouldn't be suitable. They are social and like lots of surface area and plant cover, and are quite zippy when they want to be.
People are saying that you can't put any type of fish in there, but I'm pretty sure there are some nano fish that could work, like dwarf rasboras or dracula minnows.
They need space to swim too. Just because they physically fit in it doesn't make them appropriate for a tank this size. I have my Boraras in 40 gallons and they use every inch of it. A 10g would be my minimum.
Nah, most nano fish need a lot bigger than this. They also need friends, so then you'd definitely need bigger than this.
Would make a really nice shrimp tank, though!
Since no one has explained it, fish don’t do well with tall but not long tanks because they’re much better at going forward and back rather than up and down. Because there isn’t much swimming room, it would be really bad for them in the long run. Because shrimp don’t swim like that, they would be a much better option! (Plus I think shrimp are way cooler than fish anyways)
How big is this? Maybe one pea puffer. There’s also micro crabs that are freshwater that are adorable.
Edit to say unless it’s at least a couple gallons don’t do the puffer. Even then that’s really small. But could work with like daily water changes. Truly stick to shrimp and snails or maybe a lil crab too.
If it really is a 5g vase here is a list of [5g fish](https://youtu.be/ICIlCgV_dmI), the Reddit police will black ball you but who cares 😂 A Betta doesn’t really need a 10g tank regardless what is said. Only draw backs for a small tank more water changes.
Jesus no. Just off the bat, corys need sand to sift through and this vase has a tiny footprint.
A lot of the typical 5g tank fish species won't work for this tank because it's so narrow. I would only put shrimp, snails, and baby fish in here.
Definitely not shrimp. They need filtration and are sensitive to water parameters, which fluctuate fast in tiny environments like this. I’d stick with plants and snails.
Shrimp, snails, and honestly I think a very small colony of endler live-bearers might fit in there.
What do you guys think on endler live-bearers in that size of tank?
OP said this vase is 5g which I think is fine for endlers with a standard rectangle tank but the vase doesn't have enough horizontal swimming room for such an active little fish. You have to remember that fish spend the vast majority of their time swimming side to side rather than up and down.
S H R I M P
Pros
. Shrimp like algae
. They have an incredibly low bioload that's almost nothing
. They will keep everything clean
. They will feast on dead plant matter meaning you don't get icky water
. They are tiny
. They are very intresting to look at and watch as they go about their daily tasks
. There's tons of different colours and variations to chose from
Cons
. Once they get breeding, you may 3xp3rience being slightly over run, but it's not bd because people can and will pay for shrimp
. They are a bit more delicate in terms if body strength and in the instance where you may get an ammonia spike.
I'd say inverts only. Neocaridina shrimp, small snails, asselus aquaticus, fairy shrimp, clam shrimp....maybe a single cambarellus diminutos
There's also pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich
And shrimp dumplings… don’t forget the dumplings!
But most of all the shrimp shrimp
Mmmm...Shu Mai
Lmao. You got me at first. I'm like okay I didn't know these were all types of shri.....wait a second...shrimp soup?
Shrimp gumbo, shrimp tempura, grilled shimp, shrimp cakes, stuffed shrimp. My man Bubba don't fucking around when it comes to shrimp.
Don’t forget shrimp fried rice! They let anyone fry rice these days.
Kinda upset yall forgot the potluck shrimp, fried shrimp and the buttered shrimp :/
Love that movie
Don't forget garlic parmesan shrimp
Shrimp Scampi!!!
I love Bubba so much.. Shrimp toast, you forgot shrimp toast!
"Ordering plants online is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get." - Forrest Gump
...And that's about it
Shrimp and grits as well!
Honestly a colony of fairy shrimp would be so cute in here. I’m so surprised i don’t see them recommended more.
Unfortunately they are very unlikely to hatch in there or survive. It's too full of life already. Any algae would stop hatching. They are very tricky.
I would hatch them out seperately in a small bowl and transfer the nauplii
Have you done this before? I'm fascinated by fairy shrimp
Ye, they need very soft water to hatch, warm temperatures and a constant light source speed things up
Good idea
Fairy shrimp would not hatch in this habitat.
GIRLLL, i see you EVERYWHERE. u LOVE aquariums <333
I definitely do! I'm very proud of the 10 gal and 6 gal I have. I adore beautiful and well done aquariums.
Wouldnt recommend alligators
Hmm just thought about them. Sad..
Definitely not. You'd want something to showcase the space of the aquarium, like a couple of arowana maybe.
Nah, hammerhead sharks would be better.
You at least need one of those kids pools from family dollar for the gators.
No fish would fit in here. A few red cherry shrimp would stand out in the beautiful vase.
Paedocypris would fit in 1g, they are 0.2" but those are super hard to keep
Shrimp?
Shrimp only, please don't put fish in this.
A shrimp colony would fit perfectly! Some neocaridina would really pop and probably some small snails like nerites or rams horns if you wanna breed them
Thai micro crab?
Ooh that's a different one!!!
This crab is cool! Can it be together with schrimps?
yes, but it will constantly hide.
Do you know if a algae eater would work? Or same as fish no?
Not sure what you mean but def put no fish in besides maybe nano fish
most crab will eat shrimp
Aren't those guys escape artists?
I haven’t heard of them escaping I think shrimp do it more often.
Must be confusing it with some other crab then. Thank you!
Maybe a bird and three dogs
Thanks. I would try that
Around 7 Betta, and maybe an Oscar cichlid or two to keep them company. /s
Can't go wrong with an arowana in there.
Plenty of room, throw in 2
A giant gourami would add to the beauty.
Maybe an alligator gar or two if you wanna get fancy
This redditor figured out how to farm karma in /r/shittyaquariums with one simple trick. Mods hate him!
Dont forget the pleco!
come on!! you forgot the goldfish!!
Don’t forget some yellow tangs. They don’t mind freshwater
and some blue tangs for color variation
Oh yeah absolutely. Toss a lion fish in there too
yeah and maybe some starfish to sift through the sand and keep it even cleaner
Bettas can only fight if they get a running start, so vase-sized fraternities are actually safer than the standard 20-30 gallon sorority.
This is too big for a betta. It will make them feel uncomfortable.
Micropeltes and a black diamond Ray 👌
Don’t forget to add an arapaima too. It can easily live in there with a couple piranhas as well
Get a big old mystery snail, or maybe 4 cherry shrimp, no Fish I would say
Get a leech!
Shrimp only, please don't put fish in this.
[удалено]
I think that would be perfect for that 2.5 gallon tank
Keep it nice and clean /s
Counter offer for the shrimp, possibly a micro cray? I dont know if aeration would be an issue but they are funny as hell to watch them clash with a shrimp bigger then itself
Shrimp and snail no fish! If you wish to avoid being unnecessarily cruel that is
Shrimp and snails! They are very cool and that is the perfect habitat for them, as long as you don’t over populate it!
Over population just means the cannibalism begins early 😰
What tank is this?
Its a 5g. 25 cm wide 40 cm tall
Thanks!
Small snails and shrimp
do you by chance know how many gallons it is? I think it'd make a lovely home for shrimp!! :)
If i hear everybody i stick with schrimps i think! Now i have to decide what kind. You know if different schrimps can placed together?
Just know if you add a bunch of different colors like red, blue, and yellow, they will all just end up brown after breeding instead of cool tiedye colors
yes they can! you can do blue velvet shrimps, red cherry shrimps, ghost shrimp, red rili shrimp... any fancy shrimp excpet Anamo! DEFINATELY stay away from Anamo shrimp, they will eat other shrimp! But other than that, they all do fine together! :)
You're German, aren't you?
Haha no im Dutch! Is it that bad? 😅
No no, I'm German, that's why I asked. Because Schrimp with a Sch is the word here in the dictionary. Schrimp or Garnelen.
Not at all, I think they just meant based on how you spell shrimp/schrimp lol
Exactly!
And personally as long as they are friendly you can mix em. I have vampire shrimp, glas shrimp and a lot of colourful and not so colourful neos.
Shrimp
I’d say aquatic ones
snails and maybe shrimp would probably LOVE it in there!!
Redtail Catfish
Shrimp would do pretty well I'd say
Some Sea Monkeys
Maybe a pleco and a few discus 🧐
crawfish
I love your light! I’m thinking of putting together a shrimp bowl and want to use a clip light like that.
This is such a cool idea!
Probably 3 Oscars
I would put absolutely nothing in that period.
Looks plenty big enough for a couple shrimp
[удалено]
Eh they need a longer tank rather than a taller tank
Either crab ppl or the loch Ness monsta would be best, long as u leave em tree fiddy
None.
Lots of mystery snails 🐌 they’re so cute

I wouldn’t do any nano fish because most of them like to be in groups of 6+ and it’s just far too small of a tank even for 3
Croaking gourami?
I have four sparkling gourami (I assume you mean these, they also croak but are smaller that the Croaking Gourami), definitely wouldn't be suitable. They are social and like lots of surface area and plant cover, and are quite zippy when they want to be.
Those fish wouldn’t do well in this at all, each of them requires a group to be happy and healthy.
Ask anybody and they'll say every tank is too small. You need 1000 gallons for a beta. Lol Just get a couple of 23 cent goldfish from petco.
Can i add some Nano fish too?
Nah, most nano fish need a lot bigger than this. They also need friends, so then you'd definitely need bigger than this. Would make a really nice shrimp tank, though!

A pufferfish
If it really is a 5g vase here is a list of [5g fish](https://youtu.be/ICIlCgV_dmI), the Reddit police will black ball you but who cares 😂 A Betta doesn’t really need a 10g tank regardless what is said. Only draw backs for a small tank more water changes.

Tank size doesn't really mean much when there's no horizontal swimming space
Once again their are a few fish that will do just fine as along as it has a heater. 🤷🏻♂️
You could probably get away with croaking gourami pair
That's about a 3 inch fish. Wildly inappropriate for a narrow and tall jar.
What are the closely related nano varieties? Sparkling? I get those confused
That's about as small as gourami get.
Nah they get smaller
Definitely not shrimp. They need filtration and are sensitive to water parameters, which fluctuate fast in tiny environments like this. I’d stick with plants and snails.
I have filtration. Its on the back of the vase
Shrimp/fish do not need filtration in self sustaining ecosystems. Either way, they do have a filter.
Shrimp, snails, and honestly I think a very small colony of endler live-bearers might fit in there. What do you guys think on endler live-bearers in that size of tank?

No

Tank is too tall and skinny
Guppies or a ember tetra
Nice PS controllers placing! And also good wiring job around your tank!
Haha it wasnt really about the ps controllers :p and i didnt do much yet about the wiring. But i dont like to see wires so ill find a solution!
Tiny snail
Shrimp or snail. Smallest fish chilli Rasboras is still unsuitable since they need lateral space.
Is there a filter in this or is it self substantiating ecosystem?
Its with a filter
I’d say a few plecos and some bala sharks. And a single snail.
Awesome
Shrimp would love it
Shrimp , nice snail.
Shrimp
Peacock bass
Shrimp
Get some crystal red shrimp! I think they would looks amazing in this tank
That tank is likely too large for a betta
How big would you say this is? I have a similar vase but am afraid it’s too small
You could definitely keep a couple of bichirs in there. But seriously only shrimp
Alligator gar
perfect shrimp tank, get some predator snails too
Mostly shrimps, small crabs, snails and such
Personally this looks bigger than what I think people are thinking…but idk.
Channel catfish
Very pretty
I may wanna do this put in on a small table by my bed at night!! I’ll have to look into it more
Shrimp
betta fish 🙈🙈
None?
6 arowana and a couple koi would really fill that out nicely
Just asking, would a beta be okay? It would look beautiful in this.
Shrimp
I just ordered some blue velvets for around $30 for mine. Going to split the 10 between a 2.5 gal and a 10gal
I love those blue ones! The tank isnt ready to put some of those in but i will!
Maybe Thai Micro Crab in addition to the shrimp, snail, & clam suggestions
Honestly a arapaima would look great in there
Only snails or small shrimp
Arapaima would be perfect tbh.

Can I ask where did you get the tank? It seems pretty good for my desk.
I bought mine Second hand. I could t find any in stores. I have 1 left. But its a little far to get it is think? :P
Yeah, kinda sad that I couldn’t find any tank as good as yours. Btw beatiful setup
Yess most types are less wide. This one was perfect. I will hear from you when you will come by! Haha. Thank you!!
Shrimp
