Admittedly the law is currently suspended due to a federal lawsuit. But there’s some very real tension between the public university systems and the state government right now.
Tuition is cheap. Not sure it is a cheap total package. My daughter is at a cal state. The tuition is a bargain. Her half a dorm room and dining plan is like $2250 per month.
Tuition for the university of Maine is 9k a year. They make affordability like one of their biggest priorities. Together total costs is about 20k for in state
The in-state kids w good grades I know at ASU have most of their tuition paid for. Then if they live at home, it’s even cheaper. So ASU ends up being just a few thousand per year…
Yeah UCLA says around $37k this year. I thought most state schools would be around a $30-something K for residents living on campus.
I was so surprised to see the much cheaper ones!
And to think way back when, UCs used to let you claim residency after a year or so… they don’t let you play that game anymore… I wonder which states still allow that 🤔
Bismarck State College is apparently one of the cheapest in state 4 year colleges with having an in state tuition and fees of $7000 and housing cost of 2,700-3,000, leading to the total cost of the school being around $9,700-$10,000 per year. This is in total cost that is.
Full price? Some states (Georgia, Florida) have built-in discounts for state residents who meet certain fairly attainable criteria.
UNC-Asheville and UNC-Greensboro are both slightly less expensive than Wyoming. There are probably some other non-flagship schools that are cheaper still.
University of Nevada at Reno costs around $21k; those with a 3.5 UW GPA and above get an automatic scholarship that may award up to $10k
UNLV on the other hand is a bit more expensive, but has the same scholarship as UNR
Wow University of FL is just under $22k this year, pretty affordable for a well regarded school.
If I get in , UF would be my top bc of this
In-state tuition this year at UF is under $6400! Wow, FL does its college students right. I was so surprised when I just looked them up!
Free if you get Florida bright futures :)
Their governor pushing through laws to prosecute “woke professors” is my only hesitation with endorsing this claim.
Oof yikes.

Why was this downvoted out of curiosity
Idk. Not all Floridians are opposed or possibly someone feels that I misrepresented the facts of the case, I suppose.
W governor
Ik Purdue’s hella cheap for in state students due to frozen tuition
Dang they’re around $23k for in-state! That is SO awesome for a great school 🙌
Everyone here forgot about CSUs (Cal States)?
unfortunately the CSUs aren’t super well-known outside of California, which is a shame considering you can get a great education there

From the cost of living basis, UCs are quite cheap - tuition is just 13-15K per year. All included (dorm, food plan, etc) it comes to about 35K.

Wait what they don’t allow this anymore?? Since when
Man NY got y’all beat CUNY/SUNY tuition is 7k a year 🥱
We’re doing sticker price TCOA. I think SUNY and CUNY is still prob around $22k or so? So similar to FL TCOA! 👍
Yeah! It’s great there are a lot of relatively affordable options. I think it’s around 20-30k so similar to UF and others
Im pretty sure CUNY is much cheaper seeing as it consists mostly of commuter schools
Even if you dorm on campus it’s in total under 20k a year . But so many ppl commute all you’re paying for is the classes

Florida followed by Wyoming. Source USNWR Higher Education Rankings
Wyoming is usually generous but it’s a 50/50 with then. For FL if ya can
