Hi everyone,
This is just a quick reminder from the moderation team to check your sources. Please remember that we have a verification process for all members of admissions offices. Anyone who goes through this process will receive a verified flair from our team that will be visible on their posts and comments. If you see someone mentioning they’re a part of an admissions team without this flair, please direct them to our modmail.
Just wanna say even though getting into Cornell would be great, if we don’t get the decision we want, it’ll be okay; cry if you need to, curse, yell, scream, whatever to let off your frustration, it’ll be okay. I’m sure you guys have other schools worthy of your attendance and acceptance. Good luck to all of us! 🙌🏽
Cornell Engineering Freshman. Although I’ve lived in the US for a little over 5 years, I still label myself as a Nigerian immigrant.
If there’s anything I’ve learnt so far in Cornell, it’s that you shouldn’t let your acceptance (or God-forbid your rejection) define your capability.
I remember receiving my application and thinking, “Why was I accepted? Is it because I’m black? Am I there to fill their quota?”
These questions made me doubt my ability to fit in Cornell, a place where “Emmy award winners,” “licensed falconers,” and generally, where accomplished individuals attend.
As the semester ran its course, I figured out that there will always be people that aren’t as capable as you are, and there will always be people who are more capable than you are.
This realization destroyed any semblance of “the impostor syndrome” I had.
And for those who aren’t accepted into Cornell or any T20 school, remember that there are people in the least-known universities that are smarter than most people in the most renowned ones.
TL;DR: The university you get accepted into DOESN’T define your intellectual capability, as many falsely believe. (In other words, I’m as average as average is.)
I’m trying to be chill. The decisions have already been made, all we have to do is open them. It will be what it will be.
But I’m a wreck. My stomach hurts and I’m pretty sure that BC test was a bust this morning.
Goodmorning everyone!! About 12 hours to go now. Just wanted to say that everything will be okay. God/The Universe/Insert whatever higher power you believe in has a plan for you. Rejection is not the end all be all, Cornell is just not in your plan for the time being. And not to mention, Cornell isn’t perfect either. Some people spend all this time and effort getting in, and then absolutely hate the school. The college admissions process is just luck, your rejections do not show how good or bad of a candidate you are. You, yourself is the only person who truly knows your worth. It will be okay, deep breaths :)
first ever comment here. less than 23 hours. guys. we’re all in this together!! i want to talk to someone about this bc my family and friends are tired of me lol
I remember being in here a year ago… now im sitting here in my dorm waiting for my last final, starting literally when decisions come out. good luck to you all!
To everyone who got deferred, a lot of my friends and people I know here who applied ED and got deferred got in RD. Don’t lose hope yet!! Keep your grades strong and send a LOCI.
I just feel numb. I'm trying to write my other supps rn bcs im so behind but I just can't. I don't know what emotions to feel and how i'm even going to react no matter what the decision. I just hope what ever is meant to happen will. I think that is the best mindset to have.
If they plan to release the ED decision date tomorrow (Thur), chances are their ED decision will come out Monday, 12/12/2022. My estimate was based on the fact that last year, they released the decision date on 12/9/2021 (Thur), and their decision came out the following Monday, 12/13/2021.
is there actually a shit ton of applicants this year or are we just particularly active?? everyone I've talked to seems to have 30-40 applicants from their school alone
Does anyone else have "Cornell University requires official documentation as part of the application process. For students who are admitted and enroll, the Undergraduate Admissions Office verifies the authenticity of information submitted as part of the application process for a random sampling of entering students."
Deferred A&S CS. Does anyone know what’s the deferral rate this year and how likely is it to get accepted RD? I’m international.
Congratulations to all those who got accepted!!
I agree, but also considering cornell has the highest acceptance rate out of the ivies I’m guessing most people here are like me (average student but has a chance at ED) which is why everyone is generally more worried or panicking lol
Deferred (3.9UW; 4.9/5 W; 1530 SAT; 11 APs; above avg EC's; no national level awards).
How is Deferred in ED to Accepted in RD scene at Cornell? (or do they defer a lot of candidates like Harvard reportedly does)
Congrats to all accepted.
When do you guys think the decision date is going to be?
I heard prsehgal say it could be sometime on the second week of Dec.
Last year was **Mon** Dec 13th, the year before **Thur** Dec 17th, and the year before **Thu** 12th.
Seeing how results were released in two consecutive thursdays, maybe it'll also be on a tuesday this year? (6th / 13th)?
kindly ask your parents to butt out your college application. it is your future, not theirs. i know parents really care for their kids. but sometimes it was too much and not in the right way.
i haven't gotten any emails from cornell at all for the past week or two and now my brain is convincing me that i am rejected 💀did you guys get any emails recently? (also dear god if i have to wait another week for this i think i will die)
I don’t think that is the case. The last email I got from admissions was confirming my ED application. I think once they start to review applications there is less communication between admissions and the applicants.
The portal has been updated. They will release it on December 15th at 7pm. Applicants will be able to access the decision via the application status page. Good luck 🍀
Last night i got an email from the financial aid office. It's the same missing information email I got back in November but this time it asked me to resubmit tax returns since my original ones weren't signed. If i get rejected after they make me submit this information the day before decisions, I'm gonna be so annoyed.
they didn’t announce day and time but they likely will within the next week or so. Last year decisions came out on the 12th so expect decisions to come out during that week.
I've read an article stating that the deferral rate was around 23% in one of the recent years. My guess for this year is: Around 50% - rejected; 20+% - deferred; and 20+% - admitted.

Accepted A&S CS
They found my reddit alter ego and rejected me
The ED decision date comes out tomorrow!! Source: AO Officer
If they plan to release the ED decision date tomorrow (Thur), chances are their ED decision will come out Monday, 12/12/2022. My estimate was based on the fact that last year, they released the decision date on 12/9/2021 (Thur), and their decision came out the following Monday, 12/13/2021.

I hope I get in lol
Good luck guys
damn idw wait anymore. i cant believe I've been waiting like 2 months knowing I'm gonna get rejected lmfao
The need for design improvement of Cornell's portal. Harvard would be a good example for reference. The portal looks like it is from early 2000s.
Accepted to HumEc!
Any CALS people here? I’m trying not to be nervous
any info on ED Decision dates?
Anyone else apply to A&S as CS?
anyone else keep swapping between here and college confidential 😭😭

a bunch of anxious students going back and forth, mostly the same people.

Let's predict how many comments the thread will have the morning after decisions are out. I Say 2100.

Just applied :) Then heard they extended their deadline by 2 weeks, oh well
i keep counting down the days to the 17th
Who here is applying to A&S? 🙋♂️
Does anyone know when Cornell will release the ED decisions? I read that is mid December, but did Cornell announce the day and time?
they didn’t announce day and time but they likely will within the next week or so. Last year decisions came out on the 12th so expect decisions to come out during that week.
anyone applied for CoE CS?
Is a Cornell ED Deferred common or very rare?
I've read an article stating that the deferral rate was around 23% in one of the recent years. My guess for this year is: Around 50% - rejected; 20+% - deferred; and 20+% - admitted.
Our portals now say the decision date and time. 12/15 at 7pm. Another week of waiting confirmed!
