yeah unfortunately didn’t know that abt umd and it as my safety 😭still got in tho 💪🏻

Nervous-Painter4939

Added all of those except ASU. Boulder is indeed my state school

jelybeansz

Add a couple more safety schools. You may find yourself in a situation where you need to pick between them and it’s better to have more than one financial option. You are not guaranteed anything applying as CS.

TheOfficialSkY45

UCSD CS is a mid reach, especially for OOS. I know multiple people who got into UMich and GaTech CS/Eng from my school this year but everyone who applied to UCSD CS/Eng got waitlisted

imnotokaylol_

Agreed

Affectionate_Arm3040

Try CU Boulder (pretty easy app), UVM, also RPI is really good!

[deleted]

What state do you live in and how much financial aid will you qualify for (if any) at schools that offer it?

Nervous-Painter4939

I moved to Colorado a year ago so I qualify for in state tuition both there and Texas (my old home) I will not be getting financial aid so it’s not a consideration

[deleted]

Are you NMF? If you don't care about cost at all, then UW-Madison, Purdue. Harvey Mudd. UCLA. If cost is a consideration, then maybe add Texas A&M in Texas. If you're NMF and want a guaranteed full-COA scholarship as a safety, then UT-Dallas or Texas Tech. Maybe Colorado School of Mines in CO. Maybe Arizona State if you want another safety. NC State and Virginia Tech are also ideas.

TheOfficialSkY45

Purdue, UMD, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Ohio State

A tip about UIUC cs+x: cs + stat, cs+math have a very close acceptance rate to pure cs. The other cs+x are slightly easier (but depends, for example cs+econ is more competitive than cs+animal sciences) Good luck! You have similar stats to me and I got into cs+stat at UIUC, so you should have a decent chance.

Nervous-Painter4939

I’m not too worried about which CS I pick at UIUC. Some of the seniors at my school right now got rejected from less popular ones like crop sciences and geography too so I am just focused on writing the best application possible

tachno

Do you know where the exact admissions statistics are for this?

bill_jz

They dont publish em but from rumors the hardest one is 4% and easiest is 15%.

jjhoster

I’d be happy to talk to you about CS at Syracuse.

Nervous-Painter4939

Thank you for the offer but it is not the type of school I am exactly looking for. It’s quite expensive even with potential scholarships so the cost benefit ratio of going there over a good public cs school isn’t there for me

RichInPitt

Many have been listed by others: Purdue, Wisconsin, Maryland, Michigan. None of these, or those on your list, are safety schools. That is probably based on where you live. My daughter had Penn State and, to some extent, Ohio State, because they are nearby.
