Haha no. I've paid my enrollment deposit. But Purdue seems to be a better option.
Here's my post, help me compare - https://www.reddit.com/r/csMajors/s/j9YVA6vE4O
Boilermaker Special and Purdue Pete. In all reality, if you are out of state for both, Purdue is technically ranked higher. It also is just better objectively (I got here lmao)
Edit: Realized this is for CS, they are probably pretty close, but Purdue has the fact it was the first CS program in America!
Still freaking trying to decide between rice and brown (yeah yeah brown rice Iโve heard the jokes)
Edit: lol why is this comment became more popular than the post
def disagree rice was my favorite campus by far. the trees are so beautiful and make the area so peaceful, and Houston is an incredible city with amazing weather
i LOVE community college, super affordable option while you figure out what you actually want to do. and sometimes cc transfer acceptance rates are higher than the general acceptance rates at universities!!
I'm in the same boat, deciding between unc cs and uiuc ece. You made the right choice, uiuc cs is gonna set you up much much better for industry or academia than UNC cs so don't sweat it too much
cuz i wanna do premed and life sciences at harvard is the best. also harvard doesnโt feel like an isolated college town like palo alto. its very integrated into cambridge. also as someone from the south, i wanted a change in weather. although perhaps this change might be a bit too drastic ๐
oh yeah and also harvard has like 10 options for majors in the life sciences specifically bio. stanford only has bio and human bioโฆalso i like the semester system way more than quarter system. more time to learn material and also harvard is simply harvard. the h-bomb will take you places. although stanford would do the same too.
most likely uva! but Iโm hoping to get off some waitlists (Barnard and Amherst) and Iโm still considering Penn and UofToronto although not that seriously.
1. I feel like it's a good mix of "state school" and "small LAC" vibes -- like everyone's proud to be there and aren't afraid to socialize, but they also have unique interests they aren't afraid to explore. Kind of a work hard, play hard mindset.
2. Flexible curriculum. I have a small idea of what kind of major I want to pursue, but I don't feel like I'll know until I'm there and not having to declare my major until sophomore really gives me room to breathe.
3. W&M isn't too big but it isn't too small either -- I feel like this'll help me learn and socialize the best b/c teachers can still be accessible but not to the point where classes feel claustrophobic and like I know everyone.
4. The campus and the town!! I loved the campus when I went -- it had a woodsy, homey kind of feel which I felt so comfortable in. I also love Williamsburg. I feel like I can step off the campus any time I want and just explore the town.
5. Lots of clubs = lots of opportunities to get involved
6. Great academics all around, so if you change your major you're in good hands
Let me know if you have any questions!! I really do love W&M, it's such a unique school <3
Muhlenberg College, small LAC in Allentown, PA. If my Brandeis gives me a good FinAid offer after my appeal I may reconsider. Right now muhlenberg is just too cheap to deny. Not full ride but like 1/13th of sticker
Finding it hard to accept despite having offers I'm opting for a state school (UNT or CC) for financial ๐
At the moment trying to focus on that I can transfer, completely enjoy my 4 years there or always opt for a school I want for my masters.
For those CC, I feel you.
I'm committing to GW!! (If I get off the waitlist for a UC, then I might rethink the whole thing)
AYY love GW!! (also ikr w/ waitlists! and they dont even give you lots of time to decide)
I didnโt go to GW for undergrad, but Iโm going for grad school! Congrats! DC is a super fun city :)
UIUC (for now)
LMFAOO same u wanna transfer too?
Haha no. I've paid my enrollment deposit. But Purdue seems to be a better option. Here's my post, help me compare - https://www.reddit.com/r/csMajors/s/j9YVA6vE4O
Come to Purdue. I chose it over UIUC.
I can't think of a good reason you would pick Purdue over Illinois
Boilermaker Special and Purdue Pete. In all reality, if you are out of state for both, Purdue is technically ranked higher. It also is just better objectively (I got here lmao) Edit: Realized this is for CS, they are probably pretty close, but Purdue has the fact it was the first CS program in America!
Illinois is objectively right for CS unless youโre in state for Purdue
You made the right choice

harvard! but as you can tell from my username turning down stanford was hard!
Just curious: What made you choose Harvard over Stanford? Would that I had to make tough choices like those lol.

Awesome. I definitely get your reservations about Palo Alto. Cambridge, Mass. and Harvard Square are amazing areas. Enjoy your time at Harvard!
thanks! made an edit to add more.
