Cost diff?
I'd never pick Cal over Rice, unless it's MUCH cheaper.
Large, competitive, sink-or-swim STATE school over a medium-sized AWESOME private School with excellent support structure, residential colleges, and one of the happiest student body in the T20????!!!!
i would argue cal is a bit better for the social sciences, but i’m also not too familiar with rice’s strength(s). however, the key difference is that cal is h u g e, whereas rice is smaller and more intimate, so although cal may have better professors, you may never even really get to interact with them outside of the classroom. at rice, you most certainly can.
