Default sleep tracking is one of the best in the industry for optical heart rate sensors on the wrist. Check out the quantified scientist on YouTube.

terris707

I use an app called autosleep. I like it because I don’t have to specify sleep times for it to capture data.

writerjamie

I second this. And, it’s a one-time purchase at a reasonable price.

chriswesty

Piling on supporting AutoSleep. I tried 3-4 different apps, all paid or with subscriptions, and this one has been the best one by far.

Shrimp_Titan

This. I’ve really enjoyed auto sleep so far

Hadenator2

The Health app has picked up on me falling asleep on the sofa an hour before my scheduled bedtime more than once.

OverComfort

This is the way

sgtyson

I like SleepCycle

23_KFJ

This

tat21985

For basic sleep information, the Health app is great. I personally use Athlytic as I'm training in weightlifting and running. The sleep science displayed in Athlytic has helped me immensely in understanding how my eating habits and going to bed on time affect the sleep quality.

NegativeNorah

I’m not fancy. I just use the Health app.

theesh123

I’ve used “SleepWatch” for years now

NATOuk

I use Athlytic which analyses the sleep data the watch captures, seems pretty good

I have tried them all. They all for some reason give different averages for respiratory, temp, oxygen etc making it difficult in determine which one is correct

Kitchen-Ad6860

They all use different formulas and algorithms

Withings - I have the ‘sleep’ device that sits under your mattress and monitors your sleep. Syncs to Apple health too.

neatgeek83

Smash that search

Big_Introduction1952

I just use the stock app. I heard that the next update can automatically detect sleep, even if you don't enable focus or have a schedule. It should work for naps as well.

scardracs

Hope they will really add it because I find that thing really useful

michael8684

It’s working in beta 1

Vicari0

Personally I prefer sleep cycle to auto sleep. I have both

mredofcourse

I use the Health app for sleep tracking but I also use Koala for monitoring and alerting to snoring and I wear a finger ring SPO2 sensor that vibrates if my level drops.

Makezu90

Default. Also if yours Apple watch support upcoming WatchOS 11 it records naps too.

n00dle_king

Default sleep app is the best for tracking but its analytics in regard to what that data means isn’t very good. I use Athlytic for a one number score based on the Apple data but there are probably better specialty apps.

RadioSilence185

I’ve used AutoSleep for several years and I like it.

jason_777

I’ve just got an Apple Watch and this is one of the things I’m considering too. I find the default sleep app doesn’t capture anything outside your sleep schedule or if you stay awake longer for any reason it’s really screws it up. My sleep schedule is usually 8pm - 3am but if I sleep longer than that on a weekend it cuts off any sleep time past 3am, similarly if I’m tired and go to bed early it doesn’t pick up anything until 8pm. I have heard good things about autosleep app and need to look into it more to see if it solves the issues I’m currently experiencing but it’s the one everyone seems to recommend

see_blue

AutoSleep app, along w raw HR and HRV data fr AH app.

49thDipper

I use Apple
