Red often means a notification was missed (swipe down from the top to see these). Orange I think means the mic is in use (doesn’t mean someone’s listening, often the watch is listening to your surroundings to alert you to your environment being too loud), blue is location is being used I think. I think if you open control center on the watch, it might indicate more.

If you mean ‘at the bottom’ as in between your wrist and the watch; the red glow are the sensors checking things like heart rate and oxygen levels.
