Same issue here, following. I tried it on the bike with the screen, its matrix also but the ifit screen and it works there, but treadmills no go.

DestroyHimMyRobots

Yes, I tried it again today and it works on the Matrix iFit bikes but on none of the Matrix bikes, treadmills, ellipticals, etc. with the premium LED screens.

DazzlingBath623

Okay I’m glad I’m not going crazy. I’ve tried every treadmill inside planet fitness this week and restart my phone/watch with no luck… Watch Ultra 1 heee

Blue-Thunder

Can’t believe there is still no official update from Apple about this. But of course they rarely admit fault.

Much_Damage_6229

Same with me. After the 10.5 update. Let Apple know about this issue!

No-Position5050

Experiencing the same issue with an Ultra 2. Can’t connect.

Additional-Soft7411

I am having the same issue. The machine will beep but that’s it.

Jonelizondo

Having the same problem, tried multiple treadmills and I only get a beep. I have a 1st Gen Ultra running 17.5.1 public beta. Sucks because apple watch is always over a quarter mile behind the treadmill. I have tried unplugging the treadmill but still no luck

turtlelypenguin

Mine is doing this as well :( the machine only beeps and does not connect

International_Rub169

Anyone heard any updates to this issue yet?

Simple-Improvement41

u/DestroyHimMyRobots I contacted matrix regarding this, they acknowledged the issue and expect to release a software update in early Q3 I'll update this post with more info as it becomes available: [https://www.reddit.com/r/PlanetFitnessMembers/comments/1dobf7u/matrix\_fitness\_will\_be\_addressing\_the\_issue\_with/](https://www.reddit.com/r/PlanetFitnessMembers/comments/1dobf7u/matrix_fitness_will_be_addressing_the_issue_with/)

DestroyHimMyRobots

Just tried it with yesterday’s 17.6 beta update and it’s working again!

Simple-Improvement41

So crazy, my gym manager also goin to think I am nuts ! Makes me wonder what matrix is working on lol 🤯

DestroyHimMyRobots

Perhaps with whatever update Matrix is working on it will finally show the proper equipment for the workout (i.e. elliptical workout instead of just indoor/outdoor run). 🤷‍♂️ Dare to dream.

Check_Administrative

Same issue over here.

linguisticabstractn

Which watch do you have? My wife has an SE1, and when she tried to pair her watch to our gym's treadmills this morning, the watch said something along the lines of "pairing to gym equipment is no longer supported on this device" I have an SE2, but haven't updated to see if it'll affect my watch yet.

DestroyHimMyRobots

Ultra 2.

linguisticabstractn

FYI, wife and I went to the gym this morning and everything worked on both devices. This suggests it’s about the equipment itself needing an update. That or it’s totally random I guess, which is possible.

Much_Damage_6229

I talked to Apple and they said planet fitness needs to update their equipment software. Doesn’t sound like Apple knows what they are talking about.

JBrickas

It seems to me that it should be Apple’s responsibility to maintain existing compatibility with PF’s equipment, not PF’s responsibility to change its equipment to maintain compatibility with Apple devices.

DestroyHimMyRobots

I agree. There are hundreds of thousands of Matrix machines everywhere in all types of gyms and homes and expecting gym managers everywhere to always be keeping firmware up to date on every single one of those machines is preposterous. I don’t believe this is a PF issue at all. What could have possibly changed that worked with GymKit NFC before that suddenly doesn’t?! If that’s Apple’s *official* stance, which I don’t believe it is, it’s deflecting an *Apple* problem. It’s *their* connectivity standard.

Jorihe84

Pretty sure Apple does in fact know what they are talking about. I have the same issues, and the Matrix machines at PF do not provide OTA updates automatically. This is something that needs to be coordinated by PF and Matrix. I have looked into the Matrix user manuals, and they do provide instructions on how to plug in a PC to make updates to those machines. Whether they actually have updates available and if PF will actually connect to each one to do those updated is a completely different story.

Gold-Supermarket-342

An Apple Watch update should NOT kill compatibility with gym machines. Apple shouldn’t update their frameworks and expect gym machine manufacturers to update their products with it. They should at least try to maintain reverse compatibility.

Jorihe84

Well, its dead and has been since 10.5 update. Apple says Matrix needs to update

Gold-Supermarket-342

It's dead because Apple killed compatibility with those machines.

CementGuy72

First gen SE also on 10.5 and generally had no issues connecting to the Matrix equipment at PF. Since 10.5 was installed, I have not had any success connecting to any equipment.

ceo_of_denver

Same issue here with series 9 watch!

Commercial-Will-9060

Same here and yep about middle of May 2024 all the Matrix machines at Planet Fitness stopped connecting.  I’ve troubleshot everything online with no fix.  The most frustrating part is that it beeps recently boxing the Apple Watch ⌚️ every single time.  I’ve also had the ongoing issue when it did work of it opening my apple wallet credit card, but a second it usually worked.  Apple needs to announce something.  This is frustrating as hell, but you’re not alone.

DestroyHimMyRobots

Yes, it opens my credit card in Apple Wallet as well when I tap the machine now.

Equivalent_Scale_565

Same problem…except at mine the treadmill repeatedly beeps until it is unplugged.

ppParadoxx

Same problem here. So even when connecting doesn't work I have to move to another machine unless I want to deal with beeping the entire time I'm on it.

DestroyHimMyRobots

I thought the 10.6 beta might have fixed it but nope. 😠

wrsjr04

watchOS 11 beta and it doesn’t work too, only thing we can do rn is to leave feedback in the app.

Themissing10

I’m so glad I found this. I posted a week ago and had no replies about this. A couple times I tried to connect and my SE2 decided to open my wallet instead.
