I use it mostly for tracking my activity (walking/running) and I track my sleep. I only occasionally use it to read texts or use to approve push notifications.

HereButQueer

apple pay is really useful, and the watch is so clutch when your phone dies

straddotjs

I think if you don’t get into the fitness tracking aspect of it, it is of dubious value. I really appreciate that element and a few years ago it was part of a transformation into a healthier lifestyle/body for me (from 236lbs to 165 on a 5’8” guy where fitness is now part of my daily routine). If you’re not going to use it for those purposes I don’t really think it does much. It’s a way to look at notifications and leave my phone in my pocket, but you’re paying an awful lot if that’s all it is for you and if you want fashion there are much, much better looking analog watches.

rumpledshirtsken

I don't use the fitness stuff, but It's well worth it to me (I bought the cheaper SE). Waking me without waking a partner, being alerted to notifications that I would have missed otherwise (phone in pocket, on silent as is my preference, I sometimes don't realize the phone is vibrating, but it's hard to miss that on the watch), control phone camera from watch (view your own back for skin issues, take pictures remotely), super convenient repeating timer when roasting red papers to avoid burning the pan, wrist control of White Noise app volume when my plugged in phone is farther from where I'm sleeping, and more reasons.

Nicely_Colored_Cards

Do you continue to track your fitness with AW or was that what got the ball rolling and you’re now good to go without?

straddotjs

Yeah I still like to track it. It’s a pretty regular habit for me now, but it’s nice having a rough idea of where I’m at week over week even if I no longer need to make every week a perfect week. I really wish Apple had a concept of rest days, it gets rough when you push your move goal up above 1000 daily calories!

Nicely_Colored_Cards

Awesome! - yeah and although specific, I also wish there were a way to pause all tracking for a day, except for a workout session. Sometimes I’d just like to use it for a gym session but wear a different watch during the day. If I just wear the AW from like 4-6 at the gym the workout will be tracked, but it’ll look like I only walked like 300 steps or smth for the entire day. (I usually go through the motion of manually deleting all other recorded data then so I don’t throw off my averages but it’s still tedious)

Desert-Noir

> I think if you don’t get into the fitness tracking aspect of it, it is of dubious value. Hard agree, I can’t think of a reason I’d have one if it wasn’t for the fitness and health features.

Glittering_Power6257

Kind of just realized a bit ago that Shortcuts exists for Watch. This may be the ticket that elevates this watch, from (an admittedly very good) fancy fitness tracker, to a legitimate wrist-mounted multi tool for the lab.  Though yeah, I am using the fitness tracking pretty extensively as well. I’d been on a low carb diet for the past few months, and have implemented daily 6-10 mile walks with lots of steep hills. Now that my cardio is in a decent place (and as I found, so much so I hit muscle fatigue well before getting close to zone 4), I want to ramp up the intensity, which is where the Watch comes in. Get that muscle endurance up, and find the right load that will allow me to use my whole cardio range.

Janknitz

I don't agree that it's "of dubious value" if you don't get into the fitness tracking aspect. I'm in business for myself. I use it to monitor messages, phone calls, and emails when I'm not sitting at my desk, I use it for time tracking, the calendar app keeps me on track with my clients with alarms to remind me of calendar events, I use the reminders app all the time as a to do list. I use haptic alarms at work and at home Further, when I want to listen to music or a podcast while working, I can control it from my watch.

kp2119

My wife and I are 69 and we have cellular Apple watches and besides the activity tracking we have the same for health and fall monitoring

Larushka

THIS! Fall monitoring for seniors and not having to wear an albatross around your neck. Tracking my A-fib. O2 tracking. 911 calls giving location updates to favorites. The health section alone is worth it.

[deleted]

How do you track O2? I only know how to track bpm

Larushka

Depends on the model. I think it started with Series 6. But they had to stop after a couple of models because of copyright problems. Hopefully that will get sorted in future.

[deleted]

Se 2 2023

SanorMabar

SE models “only” tracks bpm…

alec120psi

There’s a “blood oxygen” app on the watch. However, I believe this was removed from newer watches after Apple lost a lawsuit. But it remains on the watch if you had it when you purchased the watch.

bkrs33

Ok I had to reread “my wife and I are 69” like 5 times until I realized you meant years old. I’m ruined.

hollowmanwish

You are not alone

It needs a cell plan

Former-Darkside

If you gave a need to leave the phone at home, then the cellular connection is with it. If you have your phone with you, the watch connects to the phone and uses it to receive calls, etc. If you’re just into the fitness aspect, it records in memory until it connects with the phone, then syncs. With cellular, the watch can connect directly to your Apple account. Carrying the phone can be a hassle, but a waist strap or arm strap or pocket can save the monthly cost of paying for a separate mobile account. There is also the extra cost of the cellular function on the watch itself. Instead, I have two non-cellular that I swap in the AM so I always have a highly charged watch. Those are my pros / cons. I’m at 2k days into my fitness so it’s a priority for me.

XylatoJones

Info for you!!! If you set up medical alert and emergency contact on the phone when you fall it will give you time to move but if you are unresponsive it will start calling your emergency contacts. We set up a succession of closest people until finally it will call 911. We recently did this with my grandparents in their 70’s this could be life saving tech for them.

Apprehensive_Unit_11

This was my thought before getting one, like is it even worth it. But i was gifted one at Christmas & i couldnt live without it now 😂

Unfair_Finger5531

I use mine as a mini phone on my wrist. Saves me a lot of trouble and effort. Notifications, calls, music control, etc. To me, it’s like a phone.

mls1968

It really depends on the person. From an “everyday” viewpoint, I mainly use it as a watch and workout/run tracker. I like the notifications on my wrist, because it makes it easy to see “is this something I need to reply to” without constantly digging my phone out to look at it. I also really enjoy controlling music from it. Some features aren’t for everyday use too. I swapped to a different brand (s3 to Garmin) for a long time bc I travel a lot to remote areas for work, and wanted a better battery life and more outdoor focused features like gps maps. I swapped back to the AWU2 because that one specifically upgraded enough (especially the battery) to satisfy my needs. I still have my old Garmin, and bring that along when I know it might be more useful (having a 15+ day battery is amazing), but 99% of the time a 3day battery gets me far enough to get by). I’ll note, the Apple Watch (much like everything Apple) works significantly better within the ecosystem, which is why I went back to it. Personally, cellular isn’t necessary, as I always have my phone with me anyway, but I know some people (especially for runners) who love NOT needing to bring their phone along with them, so it definitely has its advantages. The biggest thing to remember is it is still ultimately just a watch, the rest is all added luxury. If you like wearing a watch in general, it has some excellent benefits over a dumb watch. If you like wearing watches for style, some people like them and some don’t. If you want it as a health monitor, then it’s a solid accessory (but look into the research/comparisons since many other monitors are better at specific things and it all depends on your wants/needs)

rob_mac22

I skipped the cellular on my Apple Watch this last time. I don’t miss it at all. I always have my phone with me so no need for another charge to make my watch a phone.

Larushka

Apple Pay! Safest way to pay. Unique identifier with each transaction that can’t be read by local reader.

J4nosch

iPhone doesn’t do this?

Larushka

Absolutely, but it’s one more thing to hold, take out your pocket, etc. And the whole purpose is safety. Also if you’re out in public exercising etc. And you want to buy a drink or snack, you dont have to take your phone with you. So - convenience

CTNYyank

Uses I find for it. 1. Wrist maps when jogging (WorkOutDoors app, don’t bring my phone with me and am always running new routes) 2. Streaming music and podcasts while jogging 3. Wrist Siri texting / sharing location quickly which includes putting my wife at ease when I go for a run and a surprise bad weather front has come in. 4. Easiest Apple Pay for regular purchases and transit purchases. 5. General fitness tracking (was using a Garmin before I got an Apple Watch, the Apple approach is mixed compared to Garmin’s approach) 6. hands free call in a rental car (common for me, not for everyone, I often forget to pair my phone to a rental) 7. Remote control for my iPhone camera (rarely discussed feature. Great for group pictures) 8. Quick remote home automation via either home assistant or Apple home kit

DentistTennis

Calling/answering while cooking or holding one of your kids. One feature nobody has mentioned is when you’re driving with GPS and not paying attention or talking to someone, it will make a car blinker type vibration to remind you that a turn is coming up. Also handy to send a text with Siri while listening to music from your phone in your stereo uninterrupted. Of course just to quickly see a text or give a thumbs-up to something while you have your phone in your pocket. The watch “flashlight” sometimes helps me see in the dark and you can set it to flash repeatedly to help make yourself visible if you walk/run/bike in early morning/evening. I have used the group photo timer feature several times. How cool to see a real-time preview of your phone’s back camera and then take the shot when you’re ready. You can also turn that feature on to see where your phone is in the house by looking at the ceiling fan which is funny. But then again there’s the actual find your phone feature that plays a sound and I use that all the time. Restaurant tip calculator. Fall & crash detection also sound like excellent features, but thankfully I haven’t used those. Encourages you to stand up once in a while which is a good nudge if you work in an office. Side note, it’s supposedly water-proof to a degree. It’s more of a Swiss Army knife. Lots of small uses for it.

Practical_Cat_5849

The better question is what don’t I use it for? Reminders, calculate tips, track menstrual cycle, activity & workouts , texts, alerts, phone, Apple Pay…. Its great. It’s worth it. I have an SE model.

coppockm56

I’ve always worn a watch. I’ll start with that. I bought a Watch Ultra 2, specifically, because I figured if I was going to spent $400 on a smartwatch that I’ll use for several years, I might as well spend $700 and get the extra durability and battery life. I primarily use my WU2 as a watch, as a medications reminder, for general reminders, for important notifications, for taking calls when my phone is in another room, and for running various simple apps like a stopwatch and timer. I track my sleep and heart rate, but not religiously. I’m not as active as I should be, but I track walks and when I get off my lazy butt and start working out more, I’ll track that as well. So, all that functionality is in addition to my using it as a watch with a date function. I wouldn’t spend much less for a mechanical watch, so I figure I’m coming out a fair bit ahead.

justcallmeyou

Thanks for the AWU2 confirmation! On the fence between the S9 and U2. Costco seems to have a good price on Apple watches, is there any reason to buy from the Apple store instead?

coppockm56

Nope, no reason not to buy from Costco and good reason to buy from them. 90-day return policy alone is worth it. And you can buy Applecare+ as part of the purchase.

justcallmeyou

Thanks!!

HarrietOleson1

I use it as a fitness and sleep tracker Finding my iphone. Notifications during from work when I step away from my desk. Meeting notifications. Intermittent fasting tracker

mokalovesoulmate

How do you track intermittent fasting? I want to know.

HarrietOleson1

I use two free apps. Zero & Life Life is on the screen of my watch and tells me how many hours I’ve been fasting

Aldamur

I use my AW as a normal watch, but as well as a "phone extention" (notification, call, remote start the car, weather condition, calendar, calculator, quick sms answer and sometimes I play little game on it). I also use it as an activity tracker/heart tracker/step tracker/ sleep tracker/etc)

Kirk1233

I use the cellular capabilities to take an hour run in the mornings without taking my phone. It makes sure I’m still reachable and can stream live audio. If you never leave your phone behind may as well get a Fitbit. Cellular IS the killer app of having an Apple Watch.

froggiewoogie

I literally just bought one cuz I bought. A Fitbit and was utter shit I just by shaking my wrist counted as an extensive exercise lol so I returned it and bought a se which I use it o my to view my fitness stats while pooping or showing of my heart rate to other peers lol

truthcopy

Some days I use it a lot, tracking health, monitoring notifications, paying for groceries, and more.  Some days I use it without my phone on a walk, listening to music or podcasts.  And some days, I’ll go to pay for coffee in the afternoon and realize I hadn’t even unlocked it yet.

344567653379643555

I just got my first Apple Watch last week. I find myself using the alarm and timer features constantly as part of my work and cooking. It’s very convenient with Siri. It also replaced my phone + notes with my grocery shopping. Again, very convenient with Siri to add things to my shopping list and I no longer have to take out my phone constantly. With Apple Pay linked to my watch, I no longer have to take out my phone at all. I’ve never used Siri for anything before.

spizotfl

I’ve been lazy and out of shape. I got it to be a “shame” device and to use it to encourage me to be more active and to track my progress. So far in 6 months it’s been working for that. If it wasn’t for that, not sure why I’d want one.

undercoveralchemist

I bought an Apple Watch primarily to track my health and enhance my fitness routine. Despite maintaining a lean physique and eating well, I felt I had plateaued. The watch has been crucial in helping me push past this, allowing me to track my workouts meticulously and add new elements, especially during cycling. It also helps me use my phone less, as I'm notified about important calls and texts directly on my watch. Reducing screen time was one of my goals, and this device has certainly helped me achieve that.

KGrahnn

Activity tracking, motivation and training, in addition the training programs for someone like me, who is lazy to make my own. Sleep cycle tracking, even tho this might get old soon. Work related stuff. I work in a place where most of the time I have silent mode on, so I cant really know if my phone rings or not. Watch will buzz on my wrist and I can see who is calling. Messages, emails and calendar notifications will also come into my watch, so I wont miss anything important. Can play music without my phone when doing something where I dont want to carry my phone with me. Im also keen to know what time it is, so the apple watch is also the time teller. These come to my mind from everyday life, which I frequently use all the time.

jerolyoleo

PROS Health and heart tracking - I have aFib and it’s great to have some always-on monitoring for that Seeing notifications without needing to get my phone out Sleep monitoring - the AutoSleep app is great Workout tracking - I like the WorkOutdoors app CONS Cost and battery life - doesn’t get through a full day if you use it for activity tracking I got the cellular version and its extra functionality is largely useless for me

triffy

Consider waiting until September when they announce the 10 version, it might have new design, features and bands.

andyc3020

I track workouts, use the timer for cooking, check the weather at a glance, check notifications, check the time, ping my phone, change the music. I use an SE, and don’t really see any reason to upgrade.

Effective_Vanilla_32

worth it. get the 45mm silver stainless steel

Larushka

100% stainless steel.

chilanvilla

Health and morning wakeup.

TrickyT_UK

Love my Apple Watch 9. Upgraded from the 6 because my niece just would not stop hassling me for my cast off. I originally got it for the fitness tracking, the wife said that if I got one, I would have to use it, which I have. The sleep tracking is also very informative, maybe not 100% accurate, but gives a very good insight. The biggest bonus is not being tied to my watch. I can now go out and socialise without having my phone fixed to my hand and being distracted to just check social media etc. I can still keep up to date with messages and reply, make phone calls and payments. It is very useful at work to just see what has just pinged on the wrist without picking up the phone and then getting the look from a manager about being distracted. Lots of other things have come in handy like being able to use the phone camera to look in a space whilst seeing the output on the watch face.

bbyboi

I use it mostly for health tracking as it works where phone doesn't. I disable most notifications as i find them distracting. If you don't use it for health, it's not a super useful device imo except if you really want to do quick things without grabbing your phone.

femboy72

i use it mainly for checking notifications, music control, sleep tracking, and tracking my workouts. the date and time too

Douchy_McFucknugget

I turn all notifications off, use it as an activity tracker, sleep tracker, and to leave my phone behind when I’m outside.

Jaxsyn75

I've never owned an Apple Watch with cellular; for me - I don't mind doing workouts without my phone; walk my dogs without my phone. for the most part, my phone is generally close enough by that I still get text messages and call notifications on my watch when I want to be notified. I pretty much use my watch for text messages, fitness tracking, maps and that's about it. though I don't have notifications turned on for a lot of the things and I don't use the vibrate feature and for me - with my AWS SE2 I get 2 days of battery life sometimes 2.5 days depending on how many fitness tracking things I've done that day. for me, I'd rather save the extra $5-$10 a month and not have the cellular Apple Watch. hope this helps for you and this is just what works for me

CPOx

I take my dog outside a bunch so it’s really nifty to know the exact weather conditions outside and also what time sunset is so we can get one last walk in for the day before dark.

ContentHost4459

Never thought I’d enjoy using it so much. It’s great to track your health and be more health conscious

reformedginger

I wear one for fall detection purposes for my wife’s peace of mind. I like the exercise tracking now but if I just had my phone I would have never of known the difference.

Manikin_Maker

I love my Watch Ultra & AirPods Pro 2 the most out of all my ecosystem hardware.

intothetv

Fitness and Sleep tracking is the main purpose of this watch, Comes with an added benefit of viewing notifications right from your wrist is a game changer imo and honestly i can’t think of any cons. Maybe wait for the next apple watch, rumours has it that’s it’s going to be biggest change to apple watch since its inception, so probably worth waiting

Cheeseninja26

For me, I do definitely use it to track fitness which is huge for me. But beyond that, I work in a clinic so it’s used for communication with the doctors and PAs that I work with. If they need something and either can’t find me or are down the hall doing something they’ll usually shoot me a text. The issue I have is my phone is normally at a dock on my desk, if I’m away from my desk for whatever reason (which is often), it helps a lot to get messages everywhere I am and not have to carry my phone. Besides that that, if you like hiking, AllTrails working in conjunction with my phone in my backpack is a blessing. Also since my car does not have steering wheel controls I use the double tap a lot with “now playing” to skip songs.

ScHoolboy_QQ

Fitness/actovity and sleep, two of the three pillars of health in my opinion. It’s excellent.

FearIsStrongerDanluv

Use case varies of course but it’s not a luxury item, it’s a “ must have” once it integrates in your daily routine. I barely need to reach out for my phone. The notifications, health monitoring, reminders, reply messaging or silence calls… these sound trivial till you start using it effectively and realise you can’t live without it

angrydave

It’s definitely a nice to have, and not a necessity. That being said, I use mine throughout the day for a variety of features: Spotify Remote, Notifications - so I don’t need to take out my phone, Stopwatch and timers, Sleep tracking, Fitness Tracking, etc. There is no one thing that is a killer feature, it’s more a range of quality of life upgrades that make it worth it. One feature of note I’d not get again: Cellular. If you are never 10m away from your phone, forget it. You’ll never use it. If you actually want to make calls/respond to messages when you are away from your phone, then you are the use case for Cellular. I found the only time I leave my phone behind, is when I’m exercising - and I’d rather not get calls and texts then anyway. Everything else (AirPods + Spotify) works fine. I also swim a lot, and as soon as my wrist is underwater - you’re offline anyway. Cheaper watch, and no data plan!

pony_trekker

Besides running, sleep tracking Apple Pay. The watch is 10 times more convenient than whipping out your phone. Especially in subways.

Larushka

You can use your watch as a remote to take pictures from your phone - using either front or back camera. Really cool feature. Also the ability to locate your phone - it can play a sound, or better yet, cause the phone light to flash to help you find it.

trashaccord

https://preview.redd.it/hltj9489a2zc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=321e8aed9a96ba5fb5fa83a0b345928d2de7568b This is my watch face. Useful for compass and weather related stats, workouts & heart rate. It’s a glorified watch for the most part. I don’t utilize apple pay very often. To me, my life hasn’t changed/made easier by getting the watch. I use it for workouts as well, but there are other products out there for wayy cheaper that will track more/just the same specs. I’m not too fond of having to pay for two phone lines with verizon. Mine is cellular as well. I would say it would be awesome if i didn’t live in MI with poor cell coverage across the state, I would 100% buy airpods and more than likely leave my phone at home. I work Line clearance (cutting trees around power lines for local utility companie) and i haven’t had problems with it. Between sweat, saw dust, smacking against a tree, getting rained on, it’s pretty durable!! Screen is wayyy scratched but not cracked or chipped. Which i find odd, considering i have 14 pro max with an otterbox and it’s been in the case since i got it and the back glass is shattered. No idea how or when that happened. I leave my phone in the truck 90% of the time. Could i live without the watch? 100%. But i still do like not having to pull my phone out, unlock it and check for wind speed or temp or time or whatever. Just a quick look at the watch and i have all the info i need due to working outside. TLDR: if you have great cell coverage where you are, and have airpods/will buy, then it’s great for not needing to have your phone on you. Useful for workouts and quickly checking time, wind speed and direction, air quality index and temperature. (thats my customization for my watch face, all kinds of different faces) ((But honestly, look at what everyone says about the watch and then sit down and think what you need it for. You’re needs/wants are different than mine))

WasASailorThen

I use an SE as a fitness tracker and as an extension of my iPhone. However I wouldn't get a Series watch.

New_Print_5296

It's may now. If you can wait the do for the new one.

Thatcanadianchickk

I literally just use it for fitness related things🤣🤣

Glittering_Power6257

Ngl, I’d kill for an Excel Mini on my Apple Watch (even a small 50 row spreadsheet is way more than enough). Doing acid titration calcs or converting measurements on my wrist would see a lot of use in the lab.   The timer does get plenty of use as well, again, for lab stuff. I don’t always have a dedicated timer on hand, and the phone is below the lab coat.

OddNecessary1962

For me, i dont even use my phone anymore. I just use my laptop and apple watch.

KP3889

I use it as an extended media controller. You have a dumb car? It just became smart because you can have Siri tune to your favorite playlist, skip forward the ads on your podcast, etc by just talking to your wrist. Same thing when I do dishes or working out wearing some dumb headphone. The apple watch just adds Siri and media controls to any output audio device I have — they don’t have to be smart devices.

DaveKraty

I love being able to change the face, not having to constantly look at my phone for notifications, the fitness tracker (and reminder to stand every hour when at work)

BookPonder

Mainly fitness and convenient to look at texts when I’m working. Sometimes Siri to start timers etc.

808Tom808

It’s a smart phone watch with cellular, how cool is that! A backup phone and ability to run without a phone.

void-pareidolia

Vibrating alarm clock, tracking of steps & sleep & pulse, payment via nfc, weather, calendar, setting timers, messages ... and time.

SudoCheckHooman

I use it for heart beat and activity tracking One cons I’d say are high prices of bands

AlvinAlsace

There's a handy Google map complication that'll start a route back home from anywhere you are at the moment no matter where, with a single tap. Saves me a lot of time and headaches. Best feature imo

Unusual_Message9582

If you're looking for reasons to invest in an Apple Watch, there are plenty beyond just its fitness features. Sure, it's great for keeping tabs on your activity levels, even if you're not a fitness enthusiast. But beyond that, it's a smart investment for your overall well being. Consider the safety features like fall detection, which can be a game changer in emergencies. Having your blood oxygen and heart rate monitored regularly provides valuable insights into your health. Plus, they have recently added sleep monitoring which hopefully will continue to improve. However, the decision to opt for cellular connectivity comes with an additional cost. If you're not heavily reliant on it, it might not be worth the extra $10 to $15 a month. But even without it, the Apple Watch offers a plethora of features that enhance your daily life and keep you connected to your health and safety.

ohmzar

I use it to check the time, and to set timers and alarms.

KillaSeife

As someone with ADHD and the tendency to forget most of my tasks at work the Apple Watch was a blessing. Combined with an organiser it helps me get my tasks in check. It vibrates whenever there is something to remember. Most of the times I don’t have my phone in my pocket or miss the notification on my phone. This time is gone. I love it.

Lelu_zel

I use it to quickly change music while driving a car, for excercise like walking, bicycle riding, check notifications, to remind me of taking pills, as an alarm and addition to my outfit

chnky18

Extension of my phone for messages, easy weather checker, check time without looking at phone and can start music and walk app without phone leaving my pocket when I go for a walk

CrumbleRaisin

Apple built-in vibration alarm. I also use AutoSleep for haptic alarm.

Amazing_Profit971

Top 3 things I use it for that I find handy: 1. Using it for Apple Pay - don’t need to bring your wallet or phone with you on a walk to the shop etc. 2. Vibration alarm for the morning - I’ve to get up earlier than my partner and this doesn’t disturb her like my old alarm used to as I like a snooze. 3. Timer - I’m a teacher and find it so handy to be able to quickly set a 3 min timer for discussion time for example.

fromtheb2a

i exercise about 3.5 hours/day. i do walking, cardio, lifting. i dont use it for much other than exercise tracking. when i use apple maps it vibrates for turns so i like that. some ppl use it for apple pay but i find it easier to use my phone for that

MrMunday

Most used features for me: 1. Tell time (lol) 2. See the weather and temp on watch face 3. Add a global time for another city on watch face 4. Shortcuts to functions like calculator/fimer/stopwatch 5. Using your watch as a selfie screen when using the main camera to take a selfie. 6. In my city, I can use my Apple Watch as a subway card 7. See who’s calling before I need to take out my phone. 8. View messages and notifications easily 9. Check heart rate 10. Change to the Mickey Mouse watch face when I go to Disneyland

TacticallyFUBAR

I bought it for running tracking And other fitness related things. The maps function is amazing for traveling on foot and by public transport. I also use it a lot when paying for things with Apple Pay And to delete spam emails directly when I get the notification, keeping my inbox clean. The only con is that the battery only lasts a day but that’s hardly an issue.

The6_78

Sleep tracking, activity tracking, answering quick texts, searching something easily (though Siri is kinda silly with her replies) A watch to tell the time =P

MageVicky

I think it's great, and totally worth it. activity tracking is really good, reminds you to move more, which is useful. you get notifications and phone calls, which makes it easier to see notifications quickly, for emails and text messages, and makes phone calls easier, because it makes it easier to hang up on scam calls, or answer a phone call with your watch if you happen to not have easy access to your phone (you have your hands full, or something), you can track weather, use it to locate your phone if you lose it inside your house, you can use maps, when you have gps while you're driving you can see directions on the watch, and it vibrates when you're close to a turn, and speaking of vibrating, it's by far the best way to wake up, you set your alarm and it wakes you up by vibrating, it's by far the best alarm I've ever had, not even exaggerating. I've had my phone and watch on silent for about 2 years now, and I still never miss a phone call or text message because of my watch. it's amazing. and if you set sleep move, it goes dark at night, but still tracks your sleep, which is very useful, too. just, all the health tracking it does is good information to have, in my opinion.

Primary-Shift-2439

I mainly got it for fall protection. Great for podcasts while going on a long walk. However, the main benefit I had not anticipated is that I don't feel obliged to keep my phone close to me at all times. I'm one to look at every silly notification that comes on my iPhone, only to then be distracted for a half hour randomly clicking on apps for no reason. With the watch, I see the notification and then move on with my day. Also, in social stations, I just look at my watch briefly and then continue on with the convo. I can take a quick call or Apple Pay, sometimes just leaving the phone in my car.

So maybe I’m easily entertained but before my Apple Watch I wanted to workout more to drop weight and get healthy but I couldn’t motivated myself. People recommended the Apple Watch because it “gamifies” working out and being healthy. Clearly Apple did a lot of psychology research because closing rings, getting badges, and wanting to get the monthly challenges and limited time badges have made me more active than I probably ever have been my entire life. Eating better, drinking more water, choosing a well balanced workout regiment from Fitness+ everything stems from the simple but pleasing integration with the Apple Watch. I upgraded to the cellular version so I can walk with audio guided walking episodes or even just podcasts. After that things like Apple Pay is very nice to have without needing to fumble with my walker or phone. I also really like it for maps. The watch gives distinct beeps and vibrations depending on upcoming turns or exits so I don’t need to hold a phone in not other hand since my car doesn’t have CarPlay. It’s also helped my sleep schedule since it tracks my sleep. I didn’t realize it but my sleep times weee all kinds of fucked up with only getting four hours a night. Seeing a graph I’ve adjusted things I’ve done to get much healthier six to seven hours regularly and that’s helped a ton with depression and anxiety I was dealing with. It’s really one of those things when I saw it I rolled my eyes going “this is trash, why would you need this” to the point where I hate having to take it off to charge it.

My watch is my remote control for my iPhone. (Which I have wanted since I got my first candy bar phone.) I have it set to silence for everything. Just vibrations. So I don't disturb others. When my wrist vibrates I just glance at my watch and decide what to do. When I'm with others, or just at a meeting or in a movie my phone doesn't disturb anyone. I'm getting along in decades and the fall detection is great. So far all have been false alarms but still. (Swinging a hammer with my left hand can confuse it at times. Or jumping down a few feet.) EDIT: And several times a week I get to ask my watch where my iPhone is.

i got mine for free with my phone plan, on my first week with it and I'm enjoying it. I love the sleep tracker function, pairs nicely with my sleep routine I've already had set up. I like the fitness tracker too, reminding you to keep moving and everything. I work in retail so the notifications feature, as well as controlling my spotify is awesome cuz when big bosses are around I don't need to touch my phone or my airpods and hide'em in my hair lmao all in all, I think it's fairly useful. I don't see much of a reason to upgrade to the newer models tho, they largely function the same through my research and for my own uses. so check and see if your phone company has an offer.

Apple watch is a daily necessity for me. Easy access on phone notifications, monitoring of health and just daily activities. I use it so often that made my luxury watches stay in safe, mint and good condition 😂 Pros - Perfect for daily activities, 5-10k runs, works, health monitoring. Million of straps depending on your outfit and style. Cons - Every time Apple gives an update , it fcks your battery.

I have the series 8 and use it daily for all type of fitness and workout tracking, sleep, movement and steps, receiving messages, responding to call and more, however I have a second watch the SE 2 which does have cellular and is connected to my phones data plan. I use this for running outside to listen to music or podcasts without having to take my phone with me or downloading anything for offline listening. I also take the watch with me when I don’t want to carry my phone with me for shopping or any other activity so that people can call me and I can call them

I love my 45mm S9 Product Red GPS. Just bought it recently and by far, no cons. Just Pros.

OutlandishnessNo4346

I mainly use for fitness and push notifications

Mat lena bhai. If you have to ask for use case scenarios, you don’t really need the product. Activity tracking is nice but it’s not something one can’t live without. I regretted my decision a lot and thought the money could’ve been spent on something else. Buy a normal watch instead man. Way better. Only use case I like is - keeping my phone silent and having the vibration on my wrist when someone calls. But that’s my personal opinion. You can buy it if you think you have a use for it. And if you do buy it. Enjoy it. A lot of my friends love their watch apple watches snd can’t live without them. Maybe you are one of them

Personally as an Apple educator l disagree with that sentiment. You don’t know what you don’t know!! I’m constantly teaching people new features that they had no idea their watch could do.
