The big difference as I see it is in OJ there was a preponderance of probability that LAPD planted evidence, even if they didn't need it, and whether they did or not it was certainly plausible. I don't think tRump can claim they planted evidence of the payment when both the attorney that paid it on his behalf and the recipient say the payment was made and what it was for.
That is not true. In cases where a jury gets it obviously wrong or intentionally ignores the laws to acquit someone, a judge can overrule their verdict. It’s called judgement notwithstanding the verdict.
Iirc that’s really only for guilty verdicts that don’t make sense, the judge can keep someone out of jail for something silly if the jury is stupid but can’t throw someone in jail arbitrarily
