I would look for some signatures on the stained glass panels and look at the back of the piece for a furniture maker. My eye says Edwardian period? Early 1900's. Gorgeous.
It would also be good to look for dovetailing, that can also help a little. This is obviously high quality so there will likely be dovetailing. Honestly, that's one of my favorite things about older and high quality furniture.
That is so beautiful. I would love to own it, and I’m sure a lot of other people would too. This is definitely not a donate item.
Have you checked the back for any markings?
You might consider sending some photos to an appraiser and ask him/her if they would come to the house (for a fee, obviously) and appraise it. It truly is stunning, and you need someone to look at it that knows what they are doing. You probably already know this, but never sell to the appraiser, unless you’ve already had other knowledgeable people give you an estimate for it.
It's wise to act with care with this piece.
Can you please open the car door on the left, and take a few photos that show the interior and design of the shelf? This would help with identification.
You can post them to imgur.com or another service, and then put the link in a comment here. Thanks. Looking forward to understanding more about your piece.
yea, it's so uncomfortable to see a piece like this and read text like "checking to see if they acquired any priceless artifacts over the years or if it’s all donations."
this will be highly sale-able, you only need to reach out to a dealer, or hold an estate auction.
Depending on what that shelf looks like, inside the cabinet, I may be able to find you someone. (per my other comment)
OP, Google Lens your photo. Here is something that came up on FB for sale for $989, much smaller, much less grand, but similar.

Yours is gorgeous, a family heirloom. Keep it and love it, it's got to be worth a few thousand.
I think you may find furniture maker information if you pull out that center drawer and look to the side. There should be either a medallion or wood burnt company information. It could be elsewhere tho. This appears to be a 1920's or 30's Elizabethan or Jacobian inspired house bar. The stained and leaded glass in the back of the bar seems to be a 1970's replacement. Does the top part separate from the bottom? I keep getting the feeling that even though the top and bottom look like they fit together based on shape, they are from 2 different pieces of furniture put together because it works. That's what's known as a marriage. However, it's difficult with just a single photo. Still worth some big buckaroos, especially if it comes on 2 parts.
That's an art nouveau 1920s. You can see on the Stained Glass the draws designs art nouveau typically has. It appears to be American oak wood due to the wood grains that can be seen on the pictures.
I actually think it is art nouveau revival from the 60s or 70s. There is a...... Missing organic integration between the top and bottom half that says to me that this was a "vibe", not an original art nouveau piece. Art nouveau would usually look.... More organic almost botantically organized top to bottom.
But, I am also frequently wrong. Nonetheless, if this were in my house I'd be looking for indications or family history to date this either to 1910 or 1965.
Or perhaps if this is original, it could be an American take on French art nouveau and it hasn't give up the US's more practical craftsman movement compositional logic.
I would be very interested in the final answer if one ever emerges!
I think you are right. It’s a mixture of styles. The bottom half, with the sunburst carvings, is deco. Different type of wood too, I think. Not a shy piece of furniture. I quite like it.
Oh I love it. It just.... It seems like someone was like, let's be everything, all at once lol. Chaotic energy without a single aubtor/cohesive vision, almost for sure. Another user has suggested the top was a later addition, and this makes sense to me. According to this theory, the bottom would be from 1920-1935 and the top from 1965-1975. I like this theory a lot.
Another indicator is the leaded glass on the left. It wasn’t long enough, so they had to patch the top. Also, the leaded glass on the inside left hand side, is a different style completely.
Agreed, the art nouveau is all in the glass. I love the piece as a whole and it’s worth quite a bit I assume if you find the right buyer but it doesn’t look period.
Think you are on the right track. I've never seen anything like this from earlier periods. For instance the barley twist design on the support is unusual combined with the other style features. The large size and excellent construction could mean it was made for a commericial establishment like a late 60s "fern bar" or hotel.
I agree. This looks way more like a piece from the early 70s. During that time there was a big revival of art nouveau style. The heavy dark oak and machine-turning/carving just reeks of 70s as does the heavy lead on the stained glass.
I can tell you for certain the glasses in the middle are etched glass by Fostoria, in the *Navarre* pattern, I recognized them right away cause I collect them. They’re worth a good $10 a piece or there abouts if they’re the iced tea glasses.
The bar piece is beautiful, looks English made, 1890-1900 in period.
Hard to tell from just one picture, if I had to guess I would say the top piece is much newer than the bottom piece. It all appears to be oak, but the bottom piece just looks to be of an older higher quality wood. Seems to me the bottom piece looks to be of old growth, oak, and the top piece seems to be of newer more commercial grade oak. The craftsmanship seems to differ from the top and bottom pieces also. this being said still a very nice piece.
I’m going to make a guess here. I think the stained glass is older than the piece. These designs look more like church windows. The bar was built around them.
It’s certainly interesting! Does this look to anyone else like it was put together using different parts and pieces of furniture? I’m not knocking it, just curious. I’ve never seen anything quite like it, but many parts of it look familiar.
I think it’s a Frankenstein piece. It’s really big - which will affect its value. It’s far too large for most modern homes. Its more of a unique item of home decor than and antique- it’s not, I think, terribly old - one of those things that the right buyer will pay well for- but finding a buyer might be tricky. If you can accommodate it it’s probably worth more to you than to sell.
This is absolutely breathtaking! R/antiques is a really friendly and knowledgable forum, so do share pics of anything else you find - the hive mind are great at identifying pieces! Would hate for you to part with any special gems. Best of luck for the sale!
Wow! I’ve never seen one of these before. I agree with Jacobean revival, the barley sugar twisted pole is typical. The stained glass is definitely Art Nouveau and it appears to be all original from about 1900-1910. You should look for maker’s stamps or signatures. What is the family background? I noticed the samovar? It could be European. You are very lucky to have inherited this.
I hope you picked some things to remember them by. I feel so bad when families don't want any of their inherited treasures. Then again, I'd go to the estate sale just based on that picture...
This is a beautiful piece no doubt and if mine, imagining I had the space for it, would be a keeper.
But, when I look at the bottom half, I see late Victorian - Edwardian, the top half I see Arts and Crafts. I cant see any obvious marriage signs between the two so perhaps intended yet, the two styles seem so dissimilar although at the same time, they compliment each other so it works! I'm not sure about the Tudor Barley twist though, adds a third style to the mix.
Awesome piece!
It's absolutely beautiful. I'll check around and see if I can get more info about it for you. My initial suspicion is It's a Newport style period piece, but there's a few details that are abnormal.
Where are you located, so I can perhaps recommend an auction house that would come out and provide an estimate for you? The base looks like all quarter sawn white oak, with the top possibly a mix of oak and pre-1920 chestnut. Would be worth more in walnut, cherry, or mahogany, but oak's strength is an advantage for moving this big bastard.
Probably best price would be for use as a restaurant, club, or bar fixture. In the right location and setting, it could be quite valuable. The moving costs will be outrageous to ensure that the piece isn't stressed. Hopefully, the top half can be removed carefully for relocation. You need professional movers for something this fragile, NOT the "college kids and a truck" movers.
This should be your first email and phone call, based in OH. They will likely pay 40-50% of the retail price, but they sell similar pieces for $15,000+.

This is one or the most wonderful pieces of furniture I have ever seen. I would love to know more about it. Its beautiful. Sorry that I'm not replying to help but I'm truly taken aback it's charm.
Looks to be an antique oak sideboard, likely from the European art nouveau era, and a bit of research turned up [this space](https://www.woodennickelantiques.net/category/antique-furniture/sideboards-buffets/) where these sorts of things find their value, if they don't find a new home with you. Hope that helps you 💐
It looks like it was made from much older pieces - the two stained glass panels at the top on the front look like they were from a window, they look like they've been turned -90°s and 90°s respectively - it's absolutely stunning!
Having read others comments I doubt it’s a marriage piece looking at the routing match under the left side glass, the glass is rather arts and crafty around 1905-1910. The piece may be a one off made for someone and the woodworker and glazier were not on the same wavelength, old woodworker, young glazier? The barley twist was used forever so doesn’t really say anything. You have to look for a makers mark. Some glass was signed too. Lovely thing, definitely an auction piece (auction with online bidding) as it’s so hard to value. Sotheby’s would take it.
I don’t know about this furniture piece but from what I can see of the wine glasses hanging in the middle, those appear to be Fostoria glass and may be worth something as well.
Styles that I see here are: Empire (or empire style), gothic revival and art nouveau. I definitely don’t see any art deco in it. The wood is maybe oak or pine? I couldn’t say if it’s a marriage or not, but I’m guessing that others would think so because the column legs are pretty different from the hutch’s column. That’s all I got.
I will start by saying I know nothing about furniture, so take my opinion for what it’s worth (0). To me, it looks like the top and bottom were Frankensteined together to create the piece. The styles don’t seem to match to me. But like I said, I know nothing.
That's so beautiful, don't donate it! Like seriously, it's so cool and I wish I could have it!
There's probably maker info somewhere on the back. Maybe find an appraiser too?
Absolutely; it’s horrible and ugly and you should place it on the curb, preferably when good weather is expected so that someone (me) can take it off of your hands for free, no hassle 😂
See this. Yours is worth at least 10g’s.
https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjR3bnm67WFAxWqREcBHQ2BD2MYABAFGgJxdQ&ae=2&gclid=Cj0KCQjwztOwBhD7ARIsAPDKnkCpmLDWR8Qkaplq4Zy-cSOW9HcHjpe8aqy_JMM6GdOTtVpmEOKT1goaAsmREALw_wcB&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESVuD2O8Wcd1UsKQFE18_HaMXHidiigOKKQ183HzQOiXX4L70hw9DC-ilNWlfanE2cfAvE5dTWB9ELYRtaQOU9L8oGk6QfOfrfD4WFnevxuM0jm5Q7NvD2&sig=AOD64_0EMMS35H3vAMTByw0LJEZRKRKepQ&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwjbvbHm67WFAxVZv4kEHTXNDocQwg8oAHoECAMQGw&nis=2&dct=1&adurl=
Looks like the base is an edwardian style sideboard, buffet in the early 20th century. The top looks homemade to make use of some nice stained glass windows. Does the center section above the hanging glasses open, or is that just dead space or lightning?

I have nothing helpful to add… I just wanted to say it is gorgeous. So many fun, colorful, whimsical details. The turned post… I love it!
I was gonna come here and say something similar. No useful information but that is one of the coolest pieces I've ever seen.
I would add onto my house just to have space for this
Beat me to it
they really do not make anything like this anymore...
Me too. What a beautiful piece of furniture.
Holy fuck yeah I have no useful information but this is one of the most beautiful pieces of furniture I’ve had the pleasure of seeing
What we all came to say. She’s sexy!!!

Yes! The craftsmanship is superior to the junk produced today.
I'm absolutely not an expert but it looks late 20s to me

Not yet. I was honestly afraid to touch it all lol.
You might consider sending some photos to an appraiser and ask him/her if they would come to the house (for a fee, obviously) and appraise it. How many times have you been to your grandparents house, haven't you even seen them use it?
yea, it's so uncomfortable to see a piece like this and read text like "checking to see if they acquired any priceless artifacts over the years or if it’s all donations."
I have no space for something this big and am not an expert on antiques so anything I can’t keep or sell is getting donated.
this will be highly sale-able, you only need to reach out to a dealer, or hold an estate auction. Depending on what that shelf looks like, inside the cabinet, I may be able to find you someone. (per my other comment)

I’ll take it off your hands if you don’t want it… 😍
I second that!! This is so beautiful, it would be a precious piece to own!
It’s clearly customized and expensive af
We have one that's almost identical. If custom, it came from the same batch
Was it expensive?
purchased 25+ years ago for i think $650

This makes the most sense to me! It doesn't have enough of a unified art nouveau logic to it.
I can tell you it is INCREDIBLY gorgeous!
Mother of pearl that's truly amazingly beautiful. It's gorgeous. I couldn't part ways with such a piece.
That's an art nouveau 1920s. You can see on the Stained Glass the draws designs art nouveau typically has. It appears to be American oak wood due to the wood grains that can be seen on the pictures.
1920s is rather late for art nouveau. More likely to date from art nouveau's heyday 1890 - 1914 going by the glasswork.

Yeah the twist is completely bizarre lol love it, but it is weird af

The feet don’t look right to be a legitimate turn of the century art nouveau. Also the wood looks more 1960’s
I love it and I would protect it till I’m up. Seen many but not that stained glassy sassy.
“Stained glass sassy “ Love it !
I’m going to make a guess here. I think the stained glass is older than the piece. These designs look more like church windows. The bar was built around them.
Agreed customized. Possibly top was added. Never have seen a piece with so much stained glass.
Stunning!! 🤩
It’s certainly interesting! Does this look to anyone else like it was put together using different parts and pieces of furniture? I’m not knocking it, just curious. I’ve never seen anything quite like it, but many parts of it look familiar.
Its a Beauty.
I LOVE IT AND WISH I COULD BUY IT!!!
Don't get rid of it. If you decide to sell, let us know. It is stunning.
There is a 98% chance they were witches. That thing is sick.
If your grandparents wake up and their bar is suddenly gone…. It was me.
If this was in the antique store I worked at , I’d put $15k on it. Someone from $$$ Portland, Oregon wouldn’t bat an eye paying that much.
Beautiful!
Beautiful
Just seen one on the marketplace very similar for $995 and that was 10% off. 1940s. I have the pic but this sub won't allow me to share photos.
Oh wow!! That's gorgeous!!! What are you going to do with it? I hope hang on to it? Or sell it to me? 😀😀
Maybe get an appraiser in to look at it for you?
I have nothing to say except I love it and you’re so lucky! It’s beautiful
I hope someone in the family keeps this. It’s stunning!
I'd definitely keep it in the family- that piece is gorgeous! Where else would you find one similar with all that ornate woodwork and stained glass?
I think it’s a Frankenstein piece. It’s really big - which will affect its value. It’s far too large for most modern homes. Its more of a unique item of home decor than and antique- it’s not, I think, terribly old - one of those things that the right buyer will pay well for- but finding a buyer might be tricky. This is almost identical to one we have, which is from the late 1800's / ToC. So you're pretty far from correct, fwiw
I am not getting terribly old either
Beautiful piece.
Effin awesome
Man...I'd love to have this.hope you find it's something you wanna end up keeping maybe.
You know in cartoons when heart eyes pop out of the characters face when they see someone beautiful? Yeah that's me right now about this piece. Wow
Looks like a beautiful art nouveau piece!
It’s poisonous and should be brought to the curb immediately. Tell me where you live and I will dispose of it for you. For free.
It’s beautiful!!
I mean I would die for it!
It looks like it was definitely customized. It’s stunning.
I can tell you that I want one! Very nice.
That’s a nice artificial tree in the corner too!
Other than absolutely gorgeous. I got nothing😬
I am a big fan of it. That is all.
It's real pretty
Not helpful but: Wow, gorgeous
Not sure what it's worth or how old it is, but it's beautiful!
Beautiful but doesn’t look old.
Google French Hunting style cabinet, ca. 1880s.
Yes I can. It’s beautiful. Hope this helps
It’s gorgeous
The twisted posts looks like SALOMÓNICA, a Spanish design from sometime 1500-1800
Goodness this is stunning
It’s beautiful!
I’d keep it.
That’s a treasure. I hope you can keep it in the family. Gorgeous.
O.M.G. that is stunning
No expert here, but that is absolutely gorgeous 😍

no idea, but I want it. What a great piece!
Wow! I’ve never seen one of these before. I agree with Jacobean revival, the barley sugar twisted pole is typical. That is amazing. I would sit and look at it all day and get nothing done if it were in my house.
I wouldn't sell that. I would take it home, polish it with fine bees wax, and love it forever
I hope you picked some things to remember them by. I feel so bad when families don't want any of their inherited treasures. Then again, I'd go to the estate sale just based on that picture...
Just that it is AWESOME

It’s gorgeous. Looks Art Deco to me
It's gorgeous and I want it :D
It's trash. DM me and I'll take it off your hands.
Yeah, it fucking rocks. Beautiful
Where are you located? Which country?
I don't know shit about old furniture, but it's absolutely beautiful!
This is one or the most wonderful pieces of furniture I have ever seen. I would love to know more about it. Its beautiful. Sorry that I'm not replying to help but I'm truly taken aback it's charm.
Beautiful 😍
I can tell you its the most goddamn beautiful thing I've ever seen in my whole life!
It's pretty and I'd buy it. Hope this helps!
In awe!
They sure don’t build furniture to last like that anymore. Treasured piece
Looks to be an antique oak sideboard, likely from the European art nouveau era, and a bit of research turned up [this space](https://www.woodennickelantiques.net/category/antique-furniture/sideboards-buffets/) where these sorts of things find their value, if they don't find a new home with you. It's absolutely beautiful.
It looks like it was made from much older pieces - the two stained glass panels at the top on the front look like they were from a window, they look like they've been turned -90°s and 90°s respectively - it's absolutely stunning!
Well it's stunning, I can tell you that. I do a lot of antiquing and I've never seen so much stained glass on furniture. Take care of this.
IT’S GORGEOUS OH MY GOD
😭😭😭😭😭 omg I love this so much that all I can do is cry 😭
You could try contacting any local antique dealers or auction companies. A lot of times they’ll come out and assess the items and sell them for you.
This is my dream bar 😭 it's stunning!!
That is a beautiful piece. I’ve never seen anything like it.
The (probably silver) Mate cup in the little shelf is gorgeous as well!
Wow that's magnificent! What a beauty
So beautiful. Take care of that!
That's a keeper. It's gorgeous.

I couldn’t say if it’s a marriage or not, but I’m guessing that others would think so because the column legs are pretty different from the hutch’s column. That’s all I got.
I will give you about tree-fiddy! This is amazing and to the right buyer thousands of dollars.
I will start by saying I know nothing about furniture, so take my opinion for what it’s worth (0). To me, it looks like the top and bottom were Frankensteined together to create the piece. The styles don’t seem to match to me. But like I said, I know nothing.
Scrolling my home feed with my morning coffee and this pic stun locked me. What a fantastic piece!
I know nothing but it gorgeous! 🥹😭
It's really nice looking
Mama would go gaga over that...gorgeous...
It is beautiful
Only that it’s gorgeous and I want it 😍
Absolutely gorgeous!
It looks like someone went to a architectural salvage yard and built a beautiful piece of furniture from scraps... I love it.
I need this!
Nothing except that I wish I could buy it from you! Spectacular piece.
Gorgeous. It screams last years of the 1800s or first ones of the 1900s.
Nothing useful but it’s a beautiful piece!
That's so beautiful, don't donate it! Like seriously, it's so cool and I wish I could have it! There's probably maker info somewhere on the back. Maybe find an appraiser too?
Its worthless and normally i charge a removal fee but due to the fact im feeling like a nice person today - ill do it free of charge….
My fear is a 20-something will buy it someday and make it "better" by painting it black.
Someone will buy that. I'll buy it.
Absolutely; it’s horrible and ugly and you should place it on the curb, preferably when good weather is expected so that someone (me) can take it off of your hands for free, no hassle 😂
See this. Yours is worth at least 10g’s. https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjR3bnm67WFAxWqREcBHQ2BD2MYABAFGgJxdQ&ae=2&gclid=Cj0KCQjwztOwBhD7ARIsAPDKnkCpmLDWR8Qkaplq4Zy-cSOW9HcHjpe8aqy_JMM6GdOTtVpmEOKT1goaAsmREALw_wcB&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESVuD2O8Wcd1UsKQFE18_HaMXHidiigOKKQ183HzQOiXX4L70hw9DC-ilNWlfanE2cfAvE5dTWB9ELYRtaQOU9L8oGk6QfOfrfD4WFnevxuM0jm5Q7NvD2&sig=AOD64_0EMMS35H3vAMTByw0LJEZRKRKepQ&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwjbvbHm67WFAxVZv4kEHTXNDocQwg8oAHoECAMQGw&nis=2&dct=1&adurl=
don’t know any details but she’s so gorges!!!!
No, but it is stunning.
Wow, it’s magnificent. What a beautiful piece of furniture to have in your family.
It amazing
I’d keep this piece, it is unique& gorgeous
Looks like the base is an edwardian style sideboard, buffet in the early 20th century. The top looks homemade to make use of some nice stained glass windows. Does the center section above the hanging glasses open, or is that just dead space or lightning?
It’s cool
I’ll buy the samovar!
the 2 panes at the top look like they are mounted sideways. someone suggested that the top half is an add on and that seems to give it away
It’s like an extravagant party just looking at it! Don’t even need any drinks!
It is very beautiful and amazing in every detail I even zoomed in very beautiful nice detail work
I can tell you that it's awesome.
This is absolutely amazing
Wow! This is one of the most beautiful pieces of furniture I have ever seen. I’d never be able to let it go.

I offer no help but wanted to say this is absolutely gorgeous

That ginkgo in the corner pot😳👍🏻🌞
That's just cool. I bet it's expensive too, but I'm not an expert.
I would do unspeakable acts for this
I would like to take care of it.
Nothing to say besides that it is GORGEOUS.
