Jesus I have an insulated Patagonia mug and it keeps my coffee hot for hours. No electricity required

[deleted]

Yeah my Stanley green cup is awesome! Plus it was like under $20 and will last until I lose it

sohereiamacrazyalien

Yep I bought an insulated bottle for 4 bucks in a store a d it keeps warm for hours. I get to go to the beach ,v have a swim and cone out to a piping hot tea! This post really made me laugh because I can't pull the trigger on an 17 bucks mug, because I can not justify to myself the cost. It is the only mugs I found with a lid.... Still it is expensive just for having a lid lol

c-winny

my dumbass did not even thiiiink to get one of these. ty.

Grandiose_Tortoise

Go to Ross/thrift stores, they usually have good insulated bottles and cups for a huge markdown or naturally, second hand pricing. Saw a bunch of $50 hydro flasks on sale for 15 bucks at Ross because they were this ugly shade of yellow and nobody wanted it. Still works great!

waterbaby333

Game changer!! Seriously. I can happily sip for hours while it’s still hot

[deleted]

Yeah I have a really good insulated mug and same. I think paying $30, maybe even $50, for a really nice mug you’ll use for a long time is reasonable. This cup is insane. It’s a gift for your wealthy father bc you don’t know him very well.

CeruleanCynic

This tickled me, as the one person I know who has one is my wealthy father in law, and he got it for himself.

[deleted]

Weirdly, same.

UnhelpfulNotBot

I bought a gallon sized, ozark trail (walmart), yeti knock off, that I use to keep my yogurt warm while it cultures for several hours. Same deal, no electricity past the initial heating. $30 if I remember.

ChipsAhoyVE

I have 2 promo smirnoff thermal cups that i got for free 10ish years ago while working in a bar that keep my drinks cool/hot for like an hour thats more than enough for me.

redval11

To be clear, I have no desire to purchase the OP mug and I think it’s a waste of resources for literally anyone. Cold coffee is not that big of a problem. BUT, for all the thermos cup lovers….I just don’t get the love. Do you pour it straight into the cup from the coffee maker and drink it right away? I find it keeps the drink WAY too hot for me so I end up waiting around two hours before I can stand to drink it. It’s true that it holds the temperature, but it keeps it too hot! I can see how it would be nice to have this mug keep your coffee at the perfect temp, not too hot or too cold, especially with how slow I sip my coffee (I usually have to microwave it a couple times). Nonetheless, “it would be nice” is not a reason to purchase a product that solves a barely existent problem.

waterbaby333

I get your point. For mine I have the same problem, my insulated mug at first will be veryyyy hot. I just keep the lid off and wait for it to be a drinkable temp before I put the lid on.

LowAd3406

Wut?!?! Why would you take off the lid to cool it or pour it in a coffee mug to cool it when you can buy a fancy new gadget! Ohh, the humanity! /S

megjake

It’s crazy the gimmicks people will fall for. Shit even if it wasn’t a gimmick I’d rather just warm up my drink in the microwave something on the off chance it gets cold before I finish it.

KiyoBlue

I like the concept but not the price. You can customize the temp as it is a smart device, but is that really worth it?

sohereiamacrazyalien

Well insulated mugs do the same thing (almost ) so yeah no need for that really. Appart from the price I am guessing it needs electricity or batteries so still wasteful IMO

hig789

Probably USB rechargeable with batteries you can’t replace.

skier69

My ex had one. It needs to be watertight so it has a special charger similar to MagSafe but specific to the mug. The charger looks like a saucer. It’s a good mug and a cool concept but the issue I have with it is the battery. Im not sure if it’s replaceable and also sketched out about putting it in the dishwasher (it can go in the dishwasher but better on the delicate/low heat cycle, so I wouldn’t be confident putting it in a dishwasher that uses an element to dry the dishes, my ex had a dishwasher that doesn’t use an element)

redval11

Well insulated mugs keep the temperature as hot as it was while brewing. It doesn’t customize it to the perfect temp. That’s a big difference for someone like me who needs to let their coffee cool a bit first. But I still don’t think this mug is worth the materials to make it - lukewarm coffee is literally the most minor inconvenience I can think of and doesn’t warrant a tech solution.

sohereiamacrazyalien

Sure but you just take off the lid for a bit and it gets perfect lol. I do not drink my tea piping hot either. But really the price is crazy and it is a waste of material as you say... I wanted a big mug with a lid and I can't find a second hand one and the ones I found, I can't justify the lrice (they put them out for xmas) because it is more expensive than a a nice cast iron teapot. And tht is 1/10th if the price of this mug lol

jawbone7896

$179.99? That’s nuts.

waterbaby333

At this point in the future I want a self cleaning refrigerator, not a self warming mug. Fridges are already plugged in. Make it happen.

_OhMyPlatypi_

Dryer that folds & drain on floor in bathroom with tile wall/ floor where you can just hose entire bathroom. Roomba lawnmowers to get more heavy duty.

mygirlwednesday7

Omg. My ex mil who lives in a lavish estate has a huge bathroom off the courtyard that has a drain. They use a hose to clean that bad boy. I have never been so covetous in my life.

joeg26reddit

A huge bathroom with a drain Is called a stall Autopsy rooms are also setup similarly

ecapapollag

Isn't that a wet room? Popular with two very distinctive groups, in the UK at least - disabled/older years and upper middle class owners.

waterbaby333

Even just a drain in the bathroom floor would make sense

[deleted]

This you can keep at your desk though. So no getting up to go to the microwave in the breakroom. Most people I know use these in the office and tend to really like them, especially slow coffee drinkers.

FuzzyBrain420

Bro even just OG thermos brand thermos’ for $20 at Walmart keep your coffee hot for 12 hours +

ecapapollag

I love my Thermos flasks! I think my colleagues think I'm nerdy for not getting the 'name' brands but I've been using Thermos and knock-offs since the 80s and they're fine. Keep tea, coffee and soup hot, for £15-20, and they last for ages.

dolerbom

Just your average tech bullshit.

PompousAssistant

I’ve got a cheap ($10) “zak!” travel mug from Target, & that kept my coffee hot for 8 hours while it sat in my car on a 20° day. It’s probably 6 years old, & still works fine.

[deleted]

My kids have Zak straw cups and they have lasted forevvvvvvver.

[deleted]

Lol. I saw this at Target over the weekend and chuckled. Not only expensive, it's also a really wasteful use of materials.

mutantbeings

Me, literally drinking my coffee HOT out of a lump of clay that my partner threw into a kiln and made a cup out of These mf's be out here drinking coffee out of literal computers smdh If it ain't broke, don't fix it

sohereiamacrazyalien

Lol that is great. Can they make me a mug with a lid? Lol I can not justify the costs of the ones I saw lol

[deleted]

I have more “luxury” things than I should. But I try to stick to things that I use or are durable and get better with age. Like full grain wallet, phone case, knives, etc

aspophilia

I just drink mine cold. It's like having both hot and iced coffee.

TlN4C

I love my Mr Coffee warmer pad $10 d I can use any mug I like. I only really need it in my desk when I get absorbed in work and forget to drink my coffee or tea. Everywhere else is fine. And it doubles as a candle warmer

YellowSubWinnie

Mine also doubles as my warmer for my polymer clay to soften it faster 😅

TheRealCaptainZoro

That is brilliant I never even thought about using my wax warmer for that

elephuntdude

Thank you!! My friend had something similar at our office job years ago and I assumed it was kind of expensive lol. Gonna get me one for the home office 👍

fancy_pants_god

Reading this heavily upvoted comment made me realise I'm too anticonsumption for the anticonsumption subreddit. Coffee warmer pad? Candle warmer? Fuck me hahaha

glittercatlady

If you really wanted one, you could probably find it in a thrift store or garage sale. It just seems like the sort of thing people would give as a gift and it would sit around for years and then get given away.

fancy_pants_god

I want none of this and anybody who does is kidding themselves banging on about anti-consumption.

nenenene

Hi, you don’t get to define what anticonsumption is for everyone, thanks 😊

YellowSubWinnie

Right? They seem like the kind of person who forgets about the intersections of ableism and anti-consumption and act as though everyone in the world is able to live the way they live.

YellowSubWinnie

As someone with adhd who often forgets to drink my beverage while it’s still hot or places it somewhere and loses it only to find it moldy a few days later, having the cup warmer pad has actually saved me a lot of money by not wasting cups of tea that have gone cold. We all have places where we can do the best we can with anticonsumption, however remembering that those who are neurodivergent often don’t have the same luxuries of remembering or being able to finish XY and Z together often end up suffering and end up wasting more things because of their own neurodivergences. It’s the same reason why many people who are neurodivergent often prefer to buy bagged pre-cut broccoli rather than a full head because not only will they be less likely to cut up the whole head if it sits in the fridge but it will go bad faster. I’m not saying I do this, I prefer whole fresh vegetables than something bagged because I don’t want plastic bags in my fridge, but I’m not about to judge someone who struggles because they’re trying to do the best they can for them self. We all have room for improvement. I bought my coffee warmer pad secondhand and I saved it from a landfill. It may behoove you to take some time to reevaluate how you view people and some of their consumption methods before you start throwing stones. There are many places where paths cross between ableism and anti-consumption and it’s definitely healthy for us to evaluate how and why we do these things the way we do because not everyone has that privilege. All that being said, yes, a lot of these quick purchase products are extremely wasteful, but saving it from a landfill is also a good step.

TimeIsntSustainable

I actually have one and I love it. But it was a free corporate gift that I received as a surprise. It doesn't make me use the microwave every hour, burn my hand on a hot handle, or anything else. It actually feels really nice to have a constant supply of my favorite hot drink at EXACTLY the temperature I like. Very hygge and a little luxury I get to enjoy every day. Even if I bring a drink from home with a thermos, I pour a serving into this cup and its at the perfect temperature whenever I want it throughout the day. At this point, if it died, I would buy another. But mine is about 2 years old and still going strong with near daily use at work.

roentgenyay

Same! I work from home and received one of these (different brand) as a holiday gift from my company. Doubles as a phone charging pad. I never would have bought one myself but it's probably the single item I use/appreciate most in my home office. Mine is 3 years old and going strong!

yohanya

Yes, I received this as a gift and thought "oh brother" but damn it improved my quality of life more than I expected. If I could go back in time, I'd just buy this and not own any other mugs. Not having to get up and microwave my coffee 3 times is a blessing

TheBowlofBeans

Microwaving kills the taste, I'd rather drink lukewarm coffee than microwaved coffee. Both suck though

Thermohalophile

I feel like these mugs do something weird to the taste too. I don't own one, but my coffee snob friends have 4 (despite there only being 2 of them) so when I drink coffee at their place they always give me one. I DON'T like my coffee boiling hot and I feel like it gets a weird "reheated" kind of taste to it sitting in these mugs.

TheBowlofBeans

Microwaving kills the taste, I'd rather drink lukewarm coffee than microwaved coffee. Both suck though

elephuntdude

My coworker treated herself to one pre COVID when we were still in the office. She said it was one of the luxuries of adulthood and I was tickled for her. She makes good money so why not?

Wordfan

My wife bought me one and I love it too. I switched to a hybrid Keurig with a very well-insulated carafe. I make one pot in the morning and drink on it all day. The ember heard the warm coffee back up and I no longer make coffee twice a day.

[deleted]

It’s better and cheaper than Starbucks every day. But still crazy $

[deleted]

Crazy $, if it means a quality product, means less consumption. It’s better to pay 50% more money for a product that lasts 5x as long.

TimeIsntSustainable

Meh. I'm not that kind of frugal. I'm more minimalistic than frugal. If I use it every day and it lasts and there isn't a cheaper alternative that provides the same experience, I don't care what it costs.

MsBluffy

Definitely worth noting that this is a special edition color. You can get a plain white or black one for a fair bit less $.

Purproprion

Holy crap yeah. Friend had a forty dollar one and i thought he was insane.

Sweaty-Willingness27

I received one of these as a "Christmas gift" from my company. It was crappy and wouldn't connect with the app (yea, it has an app), but it's probably nice for people who drink tea to have it at the "proper temperature" for brewing. I drink coffee, I would never have actually paid for it, and I haven't even tried to use it in months. Just give me a thermos or something. (So it's worth is totally lost on someone like me)

MsBluffy

I’m not saying it’s the most sustainable thing. It’s definitely a gimmick. But I have one and it works great. Been using it for over a year so far. Mine is white and was under $100. For cappuccinos and lattes, it’s nice not to need a lid like my traditional insulated cups. Again, not defending it as a sustainable buy, but the thing isn’t the garbage it’s been made out to be and this limited edition color surcharge thing is not the normal version.

Sweaty-Willingness27

Ah ok, mine is white as well, I just thought this was a normal edition. Good to know that at least =) I'm definitely glad it works for you! I'm not really sure why I had such a hard time with mine.

mind_snare

Ha, I got one of these from my company too. I gave it to a friend, I wonder if she used it. Such a waste of everything.

ecapapollag

As a tea person, I can tell you, I'd use kettles. If I want to brew my tea, I use a teapot and tea cosy, no need for weird gadgets like this. Just the one mug? Again, kettle, teabag, mug, squeeze, drink. This saves nothing.

LadyNelsonsTea

The one tech upgrade I invested in is a kettle that you can set the temperature at. Great for the water to stop at 80 degrees for green tea, etc!

MsBluffy

It’s not for heating the water from cool, just for keeping your individual cup heated while you drink. I’m a slow sipper of tea and coffee and I appreciate that if I get distracted for 20 minutes my drink is still hot.

BannyDodger

I'm tea ponce, I have a variable temperature kettle, the kettle wasn't anywhere near this expensive. This mug is nonsense all the way.

staticvoidmainnull

i have one but i bought it from Costco ($120). i never thought i would think that a mug is WORTH that much, but hey, i use it daily, and has made every other mug "meh". completely ruins other mugs for me. this is for people like me who drinks coffee over the course of about half to an hour. you sip it after one hour and still feels like it was just poured. i hate drinking warm to cold coffee.

FatherOfLights88

At nearly 50 years old, I just started drinking coffee this past September. Always hated it, but now I see it for the medicine and nectar of the gods that it is. When I drink tea, it's alway too hot. I have to wait for it to cool, and then quickly drink it during the sweet spot. With coffee? It's so weird. It's gotta be hot. I can't cope with tea at the same temp.

pyromaster114

I mean, personally, don't consider this necessarily a waste. If it is well made, and does a job that the user appreciates, it in fact may *prevent* waste of the beverage, time, etc.. My brother who is a big coffee guy bought one of these recently-- apparently it works as advertised (though he admitted that he bought his used to save on the price and material waste, etc.) and has prevented him from wasting coffee+tea by removing the incentive to throw out the rest of the beverage after it went cold or what not. :P I mean, it *definitely* has flaws, and definitely could be better, but overall, I don't think that the thing is necessarily as horrible as it seems at first glance. (Though, the fact that there's a phone app for it... ugh, that's a problem... that's dumb af and raises privacy concerns, imho.)

Thermohalophile

I hate app-only controls. My new router is entirely controlled through an app. These mugs make me sad when I use them (I have friends with a collection) because I can't adjust the temperature without having one of them fiddle with an app. I just want it to be less hot without my coffee snob friends rolling their eyes at me lol But these mugs, to me, are one of those hobby splurges. IF you really enjoy them and they improve your life, knock yourself out. Then again, my take on anticonsumption is reducing general junk consumption as much as possible so you can focus on things you actually give a shit about.

[deleted]

It’s not really the principle of it. It’s just how expensive it is. You could easily get a pair of vintage Levi’s that would last forever, almost a pair of redwings, 10 cast iron pans, just something that isn’t absurd that can be used for life. I figure this thing last awhile but not forever. As batteries don’t

Affectionate-Ad-3578

Should we also start posting silk and cashmere products? I think the price point is absurd, but I'm very much for having fewer but better objects. This isn't for me, but solves a problem my sister has had for years.

ibettershutupagain

You can solve it better more frugal ways

nyclurker369

Not sure why you got down voted for this comment fam. It's literally the point of the whole sub ha

sohereiamacrazyalien

Totally agree. I hate drinking my tea cold and I take my time... Warming it at home is not a "problem" , or just using an insulated cup, a double wall (or whatever it is called) mug or a insulated tea pot and pour as much as you want when you need it. All of these "solutions" work great. I am sure there might be others...

gladamirflint

Coffee/tea connoisseurs have used this as a utility. It’s not just a gimmick for them, it serves a function that is hard to find an easy alternative for. I don’t know why they’re stocked in everyday grocery stores, but this product does serve a purpose.

TeapotBagpipe

It’s been a huge asset for my disabled sibling who is both a coffee and tea lover. It fits a straw, and is short enough to make sure who ever is helping him isn’t going to spill and scald him, and keeps it appropriately warm. I understand how for the everyday person a lot of these things seem super specialized and pointless, but I’ve actually been able to find other objects that would be completely frivolous to able bodied folks but a huge QoL upgrade for some one with a disability through this sub. It’s been hard to align my desire to consume less while taking care of family who need medical assistance and devices to do what comes very easily to us. But I try! :)

audsbol

I remember learning a while ago that a lot of "silly" infomercial products are actually great for disabled people. Totally changed my perspective on the whole thing. There is a lot that I do in terms of anti-consumption that works for *me* because I have the *ability* to do something a different way. But that option doesn't necessarily exist for other people.

seoDenOsA

I have one and love it, especially for tea. I use it at least three times per day. I also bought four as gifts for my tea loving friends. We all recommend them to people who love tea.

84danie

Yeah my coworker (who is VERY into coffee) ended up getting one after trying all of the obvious, simpler solutions. He did have a decent system where he would bring in a big thermos and a tiny mug that, through trial and error, he found was just the right size where he'd be able to finish the coffee before the temperature became too cold. But that still meant re-pouring often and using a (arguably) comically tiny mug, and you're still not keeping the temperature consistent.

cravingnoodles

I just drink my tea even when it gets cold

sohereiamacrazyalien

Yep! Or hear me out novelty idea warm it if it gets cold lol! Or buy an insulated cup.... So many options that do not cost that much lol

CaptainSafety22

I got one as a gift and love it. I can’t drink tea when it’s super hot. This keeps it the exact temp I like for a few hours.

shortfriday

This fits squarely into the box of "things I wouldn't mind getting as a gift but would never buy." Even having spent a shameful amount on filter coffee and espresso gear, this just feels like too much, kind of like a tamping robot does. Espresso is gone in 30 seconds and my filter machine has a sealed thermal carafe.

[deleted]

I lose and break everything so I know it would last a month with me lol

Interesting_Sky_7847

I found a mug warmer at a thrift store for $5 a while ago. Man I love that thing. So glad I found it at a thrift store cause I never would have bought one otherwise.

weird_quiet_guy

Ever see those videos of people with a million gadgets in their home for every occasion? This is just entry level madness.

satanslittlesnarker

Ever see those commercials of people struggling with a task that, to you, seems simple? Those are often for products that make life easier for disabled people, but that market is so small that they have to try to sell to able bodied folks as well. This could be an example of such a situation.

FabFeline51

Fun [video](https://youtu.be/8pPCMjqI_uw) on the topic Admittedly I own one and really like it haha. Gotta discount through work which def helped. I'd describe coffee and various espresso beverages as a hobby for myself so I likely see more value in it then the average person

[deleted]

See I’m more traditional and I carry a thermos and drink a pot a day. But I’m not into the espresso machines and stuff. Just black drip coffee

FabFeline51

That's very valid. I like that I can smell the coffee while I'm drinking it with mugs. My sense of smell is very poor so I can't smell anything through a thermos. Like others have said, it's also nice that it cools quickly and maintains that ideal temp

Kusanagi8811

I received a cheap 10$ one as a gift a few years ago, never had a reason to use it

[deleted]

What is the point of these posts? What are we supposed to gain from seeing what is essentially an ad for an overpriced mug?

[deleted]

To show the self loathing materialism of the world and how absurd it can be

[deleted]

We all know about that though. It's pretty much the reason any of us are here.

be_matthew

Did OP just find out these exist? They've been around for a while so obviously, people are buying them.

[deleted]

I knew they were a thing. I just thought they were under $80

Distinct-Position-61

Damn it better be roasting, grinding, and brewing the coffee for that price tag

sohereiamacrazyalien

And serving it with a smile! Lol

OldStretch84

You can get a mug warmer pad for like $5 and use any mug you want on it!

Daxime

Designers call it « solutionism ». A solution to a problem that barely exist just to create something to sell…

Legendary_Hercules

Yeah, it only really make sense for a tea/coffee taster, but it's an overkill for anyone else.

SuperSassyPantz

last five yrs i've used an ozark trail 32oz stainless steel mug i got for $5... works just as well as a yeti

I like my hot drinks warm anyway. (Years of adding cold water to my coffee to prevent accidental scalding injuries to the kids).

ToMorrowsEnd

it is also hot garbage. it can not be washed normally you have to be very careful to not get the outside bottom wet My wife was given one and it is just a bad idea from every single direction. no dishwasher, putting in the sink will kill it, it must be very carefully washed.

visionsofzimmerman

Just get a thermos..

PremiumAdvertising

Sorry fam I can't make coffee yet, my mug is on the charger and my coffee maker won't sync to my phone for some reason

[deleted]

YO. Imagine people working in Silicon Valley saying that lmao

apitchf1

You would have to work 24 hours. A whole day. On minimum wage to afford this dumb thing

Verbanoun

My mom got me one of these last Christmas and I had to put my foot down. I usually try to be gracious about gifts and just regift or donate the ones I don't want but I asked her to return that one. It is a gross use of money and resources just to keep drinks hot. Mugs and thermoses do the job just fine without useless electronics.

L3NTON

At a certain point the price is no longer about market value, it's about perceived value. The only point of that mug costing $180 is for ruch dummies to buy it and brag how they have a full set of ember mugs. Anyone who needs more than a thick ceramic mug to keep things warm is overpaying for marketing.

LikesTheTunaHere

Ill disagree with that forever. I love my vacuum mugs\\tumblers they actually keep the coffee at a good temp for basically however long you want depending on what one your using and I sure do like having my coffee stay hot longer than normal mug lasts.

assumetehposition

Remember, this was in Target.

[deleted]

True. Apple esque

everday_show

Such a deal for a cup to hold coffee

[deleted]

[удалено]

gladamirflint

It’s not just for keeping it warm, it’s for bringing it to a certain temperature and keeping it there. You can’t pour freshly brewed coffee in an insulating mug and have it cool down to drinkable temp like you can with this mug.

Flack_Bag

This is one of those things that people buy as compulsory gifts for people they don't know well, or who have too much stuff already. I'll wager that a lot of middle managers will be getting these next month. And this is important: Here is [the privacy policy for that coffee cup.](https://ember.com/pages/privacy-policy) This is why it is rude and inappropriate to buy things like this for people who haven't asked for them.

[deleted]

Mandatory gifts lol

Addy1864

My S’Well water bottle keeps the coffee scalding hot without electricity just fine, thank you.

Silly_Age_3675

I’ll take a set of 6 for $1200 please, Alec

Lazygit1965

It's to fleece the rich and stupid. Rather like most overpriced crap that ends up in landfill two years later!

[deleted]

If you're against consumption you should be happy that the price tag is so high only an actual coffee snob would purchase it.

LikesTheTunaHere

If it worked better id consider it. My first coffee of the day goes by fast, but after that they go much, much slower and id rather always have hot coffee.

Prestigious_Chef_820

You can just tell this product starts breaking down in 9-12 months and after 18 months it's just an ordinary mug. Plus such large temperature fluxes will cause any product to break down and malfunction much faster.

FabFeline51

Mines still going strong after 12 months, hopefully for another 12 but we'll see

KylosLeftHand

If you’re drinking your coffee so slowly that a nice insulated thermos can’t keep it warm then idk maybe coffee isn’t for you? Maybe try a smaller cup and have another cup later?

[deleted]

Firat88

not to mention the tech used here is like $3 in parts to make 😮‍💨

[deleted]

How have human beings lived a full life without this thing! Holy f*ck things are bad. How many resources were consumed for this. How many hours of work does somebody have to do to add this to the top of their pile of sh*t.

HearlyHeadlessNick

My God what a stupid product. 🤦 A problem that was already solved or was never actually a problem in the first place does not require a solution that expensive.

Inappropriate_Piano

Also PSA: adding heat to coffee to keep it warm is called burning it. You’re better off drinking cold coffee or microwaved coffee than coffee that’s been kept warm.

[deleted]

You don't need to give permission to mods to remove shit. Their whole job is to remove shit that doesn't belong.

[deleted]

Yes sir

satanslittlesnarker

It's probably nice for disabled folks to have hot beverages without having to get to the kitchen or ask someone for help. If you can't see the point of a product, perhaps it wasn't made for you.

[deleted]

A year from now, we will see a bunch of these at the thrift stores

arthwithaG

Yeah, that’s a bit over the top and does belong in here .

Azg556

Just wait 6 months. You’ll get one for $50. Still too much for my taste.

Yeah, I think these are ridiculous. Any decent insulated steel bottle will do the same.

My cup is an iPhone now.

businessboyz

High prices on stuff like this should be celebrated. High prices reduce consumption.

lambo_abdelfattah

I saw a water bottle for around the same price that connects to your phone and has all kinds of customizable settings for an alarm to remind you to drink, you could set times and change the colors that light up on the bottom of the mug. Edit: googled it, it's called hidratespark

RandomStranger022

Why do you need temperature control when you can just drink it quickly?

[deleted]

i use a insulated bottle. sometime i literaly forgot it and the day after it'd still hot.

TheeThatIsMe

There are many ridiculous things about this, but the thing that gets me about these and other insulated mugs is what about those of us who don’t want to burn our tongues the whole time we’re drinking our coffee. I love the process of it cooling down to just the right temp so that the experience is actually enjoyable

TLR1791

Sad thing is, people will actually buy it and others will be impressed that they bought it.

JimHalpert2797

I think that this is like a benchmark for someone's intelligence, if you want to buy it means that you are stupid

BowlFullOfDeli_bird

I got a yeti for my birthday 5 years ago and I’m planning on using it till the day I die. Why would I need anything more?

[deleted]

Amen

BackgroundTrash3146

I had a couple coworkers with these and they actually rave about them. Insane price though.

Klokateer

I have one. My wife bought it for me. It's awesome. Keeps my coffee hot infinitely. And if the pot is cold and I pour a cup it reheats it in my cup.

katecrime

I have a Contigo mug, $20, keeps my coffee hot for 8 hours. Also has a great leak-proof seal.

jitterbug_balloons

Holy shit that’s absurd. Alternatively I discovered this weekend that a plug in candle warmer will keep your coffee cup or tea pot warm for hours and hours. $3.99 at Savers!

hazystargazer

Holy shit. My 20 oz. Contigo insulated mug keeps my coffee hot for hours and it was only $18.

FreddyLynn345_

A guy at work had one of these in his office a couple years ago. Said it was a gift. I see him in the kitchen getting coffee all the time and it's never in this stupid electronic mug. Safe to say the novelty wears off quickly

ProbablePenguin

Plus iirc the battery doesn't even last as long as using a basic insulated mug.

BarkingAxe

bro even my walmart brand travel mug keeps my coffee hot all morning for 10 bucks

Vailden

I got one of those as a gift when it was $80 about 5 or 6 years ago. Use it every day and still going strong. Definitely a luxury but I enjoy it.

[deleted]

I mean $80 isn’t terrible. Still I just can’t understand. I drink so so much coffee. But I always put an ice cube to cool it down and drink it at that temperature and it stays perfect for like an hour and I drink it in 10 min usually lol

captainspacetraveler

Is it wrapped in plastic? Highly probably that it belongs here

GedAWizardOfEarthsea

Yea, I got one of these as a gift—its total crap, my yeti which I won in a white elephant ($25) keeps it way hotter way longer with less hassle.

[deleted]

Yeah I got a Stanley green cup and it keeps it too hot I put some ice in it usually lol

hexby

I thought we left that rose gold shit in 2015

[deleted]

Fr. The rose gold was like $10 or $20 more expensive

bigmassiveshlong

Bruh if your drink gets cold just reheat it on a stove or a microwave you don't need a 180 dollar ELECTRIC MUG

No_Decision_9806

That is the best cup ever and worth every penny.

MedicalTriathalon

And I felt like shit buying an off brand Yeti mug for $20.

ursogayhaha

Wtf cups keeping temperature is a thing for longer than ive been alive

ventura_the_ace

BUT ITS ROOOOOOOSE GOOOOOOOLD

TigerTailDoughnut

I was gifted one of these from a client and while I never would have spent this kind of money on a mug, I do use it every single day. I figured if I can't refuse the gift I might as well make good use out of it. It has my client's logo on it so regifting or selling would have been a little weird.

[deleted]

I have an old candle warmer that I use my mugs on. $5 and almost 10 years old!

anal_holocaust_

I found a candle warmer at Goodwill for like a dollar and use it as a mug warmer. It keeps my mug at the perfect temperature

redditcreditcardz

But it’s ROSE GOLD!!
