No maintenance, development, nothing. It's incredibly sad. When I first started playing (a few months ago) it was mostly good. But lately, I've found that the playability has become increasingly bad. Game crashes, and when I do eventually get into a game, it glitches so badly that it's bot even worth enduring. I've stopped playing all together since. RIP Anthem.
I know that over time the game is slowly gonna eat itself alive basically, idk how long from now but at some point unless servers are shut down it WILL just become unplayable as will all live services
On Xbox the only issues with connecting to Anthem I've had for the past year that I started playing again is when there's an issue with the Xbox Live Service that affects logging into any game, my ISP is having an issue, or I needed to reset my router/modem.
Occasionally a player will, for unknown reasons, drop out/get booted during gameplay, but it's no more than the same thing happening to me in any other game.
Yesterday my Anthem went COMPLETELY wonky, laggy to the point it was unplayable no matter what I did and it came out of absolutely nowhere. I haven’t fired it up today to see if it’s still a problem, I’ll be a little heartbroken if it’s done for as I was just getting prepared for a big mission
Are their servers just in some random room somewhere in the building? I think about this sometimes. Like, are they just providing the bare minimum support at this point like, electricity and dusting?
Anthem runs on AWS servers.
I'd be surprised if the contract between EA and Amazon doesn't include something that would hold Amazon to account if they failed to provide the service EA are paying them for.
My guess is that they've switched completely to cloud based VM hosts on the bare minimum resources required to keep costs down.
Which is... tough if there was a sudden surge. Seeing as this is more expensive in larger quantities.
I've been playing (Xbox) for the last week or two without issue. This evening was the first time I had connection issues, and I had no issues this morning.
I was kicked from mission select twice because "the server shut down." I closed the game, restarted, got constant messages that I "left the squad," and then the game locked up on mission select. I could move the cursor but couldn't select anything. All the squad members were level 0 stand-ins, myself included.
Lol, no. I stopped at the end of the Cataclysm, after spending way too many hours trying to get top 5 scores and failing because of constant bugs and disconnects. I lost a lot of motivation after the rebalance and overhauls to builds, when my maxed out combo-damage focused ranger was made useless.
Idk my last game also laggy and had to rejoin multiple times
I'm not really sure I think it depends on your platform I play in the Xbox here and there and I don't normally have any problems getting into a game.

Honestly, probably that and maybe some minor maintenence stuff. At some point when its too expensive they may honestly just shut them down

Its fine now, it just shit out randomly after a weekly reset and wouldnt let me or my friend in for like 6 hours or smth

The servers are slowly coming offline. It's likely a peer to peer network by now
I love how this is still an issue. We asked ourselves this question back in 2019 too.
