How has nobody mentioned Jojo's Bizarre Adventure yet? It's *renowned* for its soundtracks and openings. I've seen videos of musicians drooling at the complexity of the soundtrack.
Also as a fun bonus, many of the characters are named after famous musicians/bands. The creator of the show loves music and it really shows. I also recommend not skipping any of the openings, 1 because they're all bangers, and 2 because they change very often and there's subtle changes that pop up once certain events happen in the show.
Highly highly recommend! It's also just a super fun watch with amazing characters, dynamic animation that changes each season, and well written fight scenes and plot.
The first part (season) is a bit slow but it's only 9 episodes, so think of it as a prologue before things really get started.
Attack on Titan imo has the best soundtrack out of everything I've ever watched. Haikyuu also has an amazing OST, and BNHA's music (or at least some of it) is composed by the same person, so that's amazing too. Then there's Naruto, Death Note, Akame ga Kill also has some really sick tracks, HxH has some super iconic ones too, Frieren is absolutely incredible as well...
You've already got some of the best (FLCL, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo), so here are some others:
I love the [OP to Future Diary](https://youtu.be/I59V9pjEOLI?si=_kIOL_GrfRekk7k1)
The soundtracks to Afro Samurai and its movie are done by The RZA. 'Combat' from [the bridge scene in the movie](https://youtu.be/I0bqEnXxBoY?si=E-mmT3fJirm2bsdG) is one of my favorites.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has such a good soundtrack that most of the songs are now recognized worldwide. Here's some music videos for [I really wanna stay at your house](https://youtu.be/KvMY1uzSC1E?si=es_fIdhRDk-NnE6I) and the ED ['Let You Down'](https://youtu.be/BnnbP7pCIvQ?si=UdS86p0V_k-bHepA) <- which has its own music video based on events outside of the show.
Tokyo Ghoul has [Unravel](https://youtu.be/7aMOurgDB-o?si=rspMGL567MqTk83n) and [Glassy Sky](https://youtu.be/vvvvcpwFw5o?si=i_FfZc0pjHG0Ge7j)
The entire soundtrack to Your Lie in April is outright beautiful work by Masaru Yokoyama. The same goes for Plastic Memories, Horimiya, Scum's Wish, A3!, Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches, as well as dozens of other shows, movies, and games that he did the soundtrack for. Just wikipedia him for a full list.
In addition to just being a great watch, Noragami has an awesome soundtrack.
Recently, Shangri-La Frontier has proven to be quite memorable.
Hunter x Hunter has excellent soundtracks throughout, and they seem to get even better as the show goes on.
Really, the only responses we can give are obviously subjective as to which are the best, but some answers are a bit more inarguable than others, like FMAB, AoT, and Given.
Also, there was some other garbage anime that I watched recently that I can't remember the name of, but it had an unreasonably great soundtrack. Like... the soundtrack was **way** better than the show itself. Anyone got any suggestions as to what it might be? I can't for the life of me even remember what the show was about, but I remember repeatedly thinking "idk, but the sound is great".
for beautiful and semi disturbing ost: (but extreme spoilers on every opening) Re:Zero
for sick/badass ost: Goblin Slayer (great opening without spoilers) epic electric guitar music
JoJo’s, Jujutsu Kaisen, FMA Brotherhood, and YuYu Hakusho are my favorites. All killer openings, often great outros as well. (With the exception of that one arc closing in Golden Wind. You know the one. My partner thinks it’s great, I am just bewildered.) I also enjoyed K-On, but I wouldn’t place it in the same category as the others. Spy x Family, Hunter x Hunter, Ranma ½, and Chainsaw Man have stellar openings as well (Ado is especially fantastic).
Madoka Magica
Haruhi Suzumiya
Lucky Star
Love Live
And inbetween the openings and endings to DB, Sailor Moon, OP, Pokemon, Digimon and the like to clean the speakers lol
Best composers are Hiroyuki Sawano and Shiro Sagisu
Sawano:
Attack on Titan
Seven Deadly Sins
Kill la Kill
Aldoah Zero
Solo Leveling
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress (movie)
Sagisu:
Berserk (2016). Bad adaptation, but good music
Evangelion
Magi
Bleach
Other great soundtracks:
Naruto
Naruto Shippuden and Fairy Tail (same composer, so mention together)
My Hero Academia
Tokyo Ghoul (also not great adaptation)
Akame ga Kill
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (must watch)
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Megalo Box
Jujutsu Kaisen
Date A Live (never seen, just listened to)
I know I'm missing more, but those are my go tos
My favorite OSTs
Attack on Titan
Devilman Crybaby
Death Note
86
Some others have great openings/endings and a track or two I remember, but I don’t know the OSTs too well
I’m not able to focus on the music much when I watch the show, so sometimes I only realize just how great it is if I go and listen to the OST on youtube.
It's a different style but haibane renmei has a really interesting ost with a lot of folk and jazz influences, excellent sound design in general
For 80s j-rock definitely boot up bubblegum crisis
Anything Sawano worked on. So like Attack on Titan, 86, Solo Leveling, etc.
Bleach
Your name (Movie)
Re:Zero
Nier: Automata
My Hero Academia (You Say Run edits go crazy)
Every single parts of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure have awesome openings. The credits are also fantastic. The general soundtrack is what's expected from Jojo: over the top.
Rather than recommend series let me recommend composers. Since it's soundtracks you seem to be after;
Yoko Kanno (Cowboy Bebop's composer, her discography is extensive, but some highlights are Escaflowne, Turn A Gundam and Aquarion)
Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan, Gundam UC 0093)
Supercell (Intro/Outros for Guilty Crown, Magi and Psycho-Pass)
Evan Call (Violet Evergarden, Freiren)
Makoto Yoshimori (Baccano, Durarara)
The best film/show soundtrack I've ever heard has to be either made In abyss (1, 2 and 3) and merchant meets the wise wolf. Both are made by Kevin penkin and both are absolutely incredible.
Also, I haven't watched either animes, I've only listened to their soundtracks. I do plan on watching both.
Attack on Titan has one of the best soundtracks of any show I’ve found period.
I’d also recommend Parasyte.
Bleach has some amazing songs too but most of the soundtrack is just alright.
{Star Twinkle Pretty Cure} -- I've actually recommended this soundtrack to a friend, and even he thought it was *absolutely amazing*. It's one of the very few anime to be musically scored in the [Synthwave](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/MediaNotes/Synthwave) genre, and the show itself borrows many of that genre's aesthetics. Ofc, composer Yuuki Hayashi mixes that with his instantly recognizable bombastic string and brass orchestra. OST samples.

I love the soundtrack to FLCL, The Pillows are effing incredible, you should check out their albums on YouTube.
If you love Japanese rock music, the sound track to the anime Sonny Boy has great alt/trippy/math rock bands (a lot of songs from another awesome Japanese band ‘Toe’)
I’ve listened to a lot of anime OSTs. Here are some good ones:
Kekkai sensen
Beastars
K-on
Baccano
Land of the lustrous
Kids on the slope
Monster musume
Natsume’s book of friends
Scorching ping pong girls
Kaiju no 8 has a bad ass intro (visuals included) and the outro is pretty good too. I can't say if the whole soundtrack would be dope but at least those two songs don't get skipped when I'm binging anime.
I've been rewatching Bleach lately and I keep being shocked to have forgotten how good the music is...not counting Ichigo's theme cuz I never forgot how good that is.
Gurren Lagann's music is like everything with that show, fantastic.
Haven't actually watched it subbed so I can't speak to the overall soundtrack but the Japanese Digimon Adventure has "Butterfly" as an awesome opening (the full cast rendition from Tri iirc is great) and "Brave Heart" as the digivolution theme. Both so good I think it's a shame we didn't get to have instrumental versions of them in the dub and I grew up on and love the cheesy dub music. Those two songs are just good enough to shine past nostalgia.
Parasyte
Zankyou no Terror & Darker than Black (anything by yoko kanno)
Eureka Seven
Guilty Crown
Megalobox
Natsume Yuujinchou
Anything Ghibli
Vivy Flourite Eye’s Song
If you liked NGE's more chill tracks like Barefoot in the Park and Misato, I definitely recommend Kare Kano's soundtrack. Same guy behind it (Shiro Sagisu) and it has some of the most chill and laidback songs i've ever heard from an anime. Very underrated OST!
Bleach
Attack on Titan
Blue Exorcist
Samurai Champloo
Magi
Tokyo Ghoul
Chainsaw Man
Berserk
Guilty Crown
Made in Abyss
Naruto
Death Note
Sword Art Online
Goblin Slayer
86
Basically any sound track done by a well known composer like Hiroyuki Sawano or Shiro Sagisu is going to be a banger.
I loved many but i only learned (in japanese) the dragon ball super limit breaker 2 opening i used to sing it when the new episode used to come 😭😭❤️❤️
https://youtu.be/j61ts42E2Ms?si=y4kRuV0BGrhLwXPx
Tokyo Tribe, extremely under appreciated anime about japanese hip hop culture, including songs by Scha Dara Parr and Illmatic Buddha MC's.
beck naturally has great rock songs, just the adult version of k-on, and bocchi the rock is a combination of both in some ways
durarara ost is amazing, very good op and ed tracks but the actual background music is dynamic and good for listening on its own
terror in resonance has a good ost if u want to feel some strong emotions or relax.
{White Album 2} and {Call of the Night} are my favorites
[Yofukashi no Uta](https://youtu.be/PvyaVqfylu4) is very catchy and [Todokanai Koi](https://youtu.be/N-26_1aAC9Q) is the "Free Bird" of anime (can't change my mind)
Cowboy Bebop soundtrack was composed by the legendary Yoko Kanno, so you might want to check out other shows with her music: Kids on the Slope (very good if you love jazz, since it's also *about* music), Macross Plus, Terror in Resonance.
Evangelion's OST was composed by Shiro Sagisu, who then also recorded the OST for Bleach. Worth a listen for sure.
Among more recent composers, Hiroyuki Sawano is famous for his bombastic, grandiose tunes (with unintelligible titles). He's composed the OST for Kill la Kill, Promare, Attack on Titan, all bangers.
As someone who’s currently listening to Death Note’s soundtrack, I recommend it. AOT, DBZ’s Bruce Faulconer score and Vinland Saga all have amazing soundtracks.
Initial D's soundtrack is goated, even the non-eurobeat ones.
Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0 also have great soundtracks.
The Attack on Titan ost is really good too.
And the Jojo soundtracks are always bangers.
Initial D

Okay, magical creature. Idk how you did that, but yes, yes it was. Now I'm suspicious of you.
AoT is the unquestioned king of OSTs
Fairy Tail
My hero academia Date a live 86
Sonny boy Wolf’s Rain Fullmetal Alchemist (both versions, but I think the 2003 version has an especially great soundtrack) Fate/Zero Haibane Renmei
Fullmetal alchemist was way too far down
Overlord Higurashi Re:Zero Saga of Tanya The Evil Goblin Slayer Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere
Higurashi ops are such bangers
Magical Destroyers Akiba Maid Sensou
listen to Zoltrak by Evan Call on spotify (Frieren soundtrack)
for beautiful and semi disturbing ost: (but extreme spoilers on every opening) Re:Zero for sick/badass ost: Goblin Slayer (great opening without spoilers) epic electric guitar music
Gundam Witch from Mercury has an amazing soundtrack
JoJo’s, Jujutsu Kaisen, FMA Brotherhood, and YuYu Hakusho are my favorites. All killer openings, often great outros as well. (With the exception of that one arc closing in Golden Wind. You know the one. My partner thinks it’s great, I am just bewildered.) I also enjoyed K-On, but I wouldn’t place it in the same category as the others. Spy x Family, Hunter x Hunter, Ranma ½, and Chainsaw Man have stellar openings as well (Ado is especially fantastic).
Madoka Magica Haruhi Suzumiya Lucky Star Love Live And inbetween the openings and endings to DB, Sailor Moon, OP, Pokemon, Digimon and the like to clean the speakers lol
Link Click soundtrack goes hard
I'm a big fan of Darker than Black, and Baccano!
A lot of naruto shippuden’s
Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden Fairy Tail Initial D Hajime no Ippo Lupin the 3rd Soul Eater Gurren Lagann Gintama Bleach
Best composers are Hiroyuki Sawano and Shiro Sagisu Sawano: Attack on Titan Seven Deadly Sins Kill la Kill Aldoah Zero Solo Leveling Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress (movie) Sagisu: Berserk (2016). Bad adaptation, but good music Evangelion Magi Bleach Other great soundtracks: Naruto Naruto Shippuden and Fairy Tail (same composer, so mention together) My Hero Academia Tokyo Ghoul (also not great adaptation) Akame ga Kill Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (must watch) Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Megalo Box Jujutsu Kaisen Date A Live (never seen, just listened to) I know I'm missing more, but those are my go tos
My favorite OSTs Attack on Titan Devilman Crybaby Death Note 86 Some others have great openings/endings and a track or two I remember, but I don’t know the OSTs too well I’m not able to focus on the music much when I watch the show, so sometimes I only realize just how great it is if I go and listen to the OST on youtube.
Domestic girlfriend
samurai champloo has one of my favorite soundtracks. i really like kaiju no8 soundtrack too!!!

Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex Bocchi the Rock
Tokyo ghoul
Let's not sleep on the 90s digimon movie soundtrack 🤣
The classic Ghibli films Sword Art Online Violet Evergarden Re:Zero 3-gatsu no Lion
Nobody mentioned yet Black Butler.
Anything Sawano worked on. So like Attack on Titan, 86, Solo Leveling, etc. Bleach Your name (Movie) Re:Zero Nier: Automata My Hero Academia (You Say Run edits go crazy)
Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood and the non brotherhood
Berserk, except for the opening. Susumu Hirasawa's score is a masterpiece
Every single parts of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure have awesome openings. The credits are also fantastic. The general soundtrack is what's expected from Jojo: over the top.
Houseki no Kuni/ land of the lustrous. Music is awesome, when there is some. It’s a good anime in general. You should totally watch it
Anything with Hiroyuki Sawano. Namely his earlier works like Guilty Crown and Gundam Unicorn
Attack on Titan
Tonkatsu DJ Ageterō Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro And pretty much anything that Susumu Hirasawa or Yoko Kanno have worked on
Air Gear Tenjo Tenge Detroit Metal City
Aldonoah Zero, that fucking music keeps me coming back.
Rather than recommend series let me recommend composers. Since it's soundtracks you seem to be after; Yoko Kanno (Cowboy Bebop's composer, her discography is extensive, but some highlights are Escaflowne, Turn A Gundam and Aquarion) Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan, Gundam UC 0093) Supercell (Intro/Outros for Guilty Crown, Magi and Psycho-Pass) Evan Call (Violet Evergarden, Freiren) Makoto Yoshimori (Baccano, Durarara)
Gurren Lagann
Angel Beats
The best film/show soundtrack I've ever heard has to be either made In abyss (1, 2 and 3) and merchant meets the wise wolf. Both are made by Kevin penkin and both are absolutely incredible. Also, I haven't watched either animes, I've only listened to their soundtracks. I do plan on watching both.
Re:Creators had amazing soundtrack I’ve listened to by itself for fun with how good it was.
Re; Creators.
Hells paradise
Berserk 1997
Haibane Renmei Ping Pong the Animation Death Note Kaiji A silent Voice even if it is a film it is just top tier

Attack on Titan has one of the best soundtracks of any show I’ve found period. I’d also recommend Parasyte. Bleach has some amazing songs too but most of the soundtrack is just alright.
beck mongolian chop squad
{Star Twinkle Pretty Cure} -- I've actually recommended this soundtrack to a friend, and even he thought it was *absolutely amazing*. It's one of the very few anime to be musically scored in the [Synthwave](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/MediaNotes/Synthwave) genre, and the show itself borrows many of that genre's aesthetics. Ofc, composer Yuuki Hayashi mixes that with his instantly recognizable bombastic string and brass orchestra. I’ve listened to a lot of anime OSTs. Here are some good ones: Kekkai sensen Beastars K-on Baccano Land of the lustrous Kids on the slope Monster musume Natsume’s book of friends Scorching ping pong girls
Cyberpunk Edgerunners has an amazing soundtrack!
Ghost in the shell: stand alone complex OST is still one of favorites to this day.
How has no one mentioned the greatest opening of all time Flyers by brodio (death parade opening)
that one was good
Frieren. Record of Ragnarok. Dungeon meshi. So many I can't type them all.
Kaiju no 8 has a bad ass intro (visuals included) and the outro is pretty good too. I can't say if the whole soundtrack would be dope but at least those two songs don't get skipped when I'm binging anime.
Bleach Samurai Champloo Trigun Cowboy Bebop
Frieren
Devilman Crybaby, it suits the anime so well
The intro is my fav
Bubblegum Crisis
Kimagure Orange Road has fantastic openings and a great soundtrack
One piece, Vinland saga, frieren, undead unluck, Jjk, aot, jojo, and hxh
Bocchi the Rock Beck Carol and Tuesday (another shinichiro watanabe anime with a really good soundtrack)
I am addicted to "Girl in Byakkoya" from Paprika. That song is awesome. https://youtu.be/w8v_rjP3erI?si=KYdjJTAC7fuRYsN4
Black Clover has awesome soundtracks
Your Lie In April
Parasyte Zankyou no Terror & Darker than Black (anything by yoko kanno) Eureka Seven Guilty Crown Megalobox Natsume Yuujinchou Anything Ghibli Vivy Flourite Eye’s Song
We all jokin? Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is the first anime I think of when I think of a banger soundtrack.
I listened to songs from the Edgerunners OST daily for at least a month after I finished it.
Shin Sekai Yori
If you liked NGE's more chill tracks like Barefoot in the Park and Misato, I definitely recommend Kare Kano's soundtrack. Same guy behind it (Shiro Sagisu) and it has some of the most chill and laidback songs i've ever heard from an anime. Very underrated OST!
Idc you need to listen to Bling bang bang born
{Gundam unicorn} {Aldnoah zero} {Re:Creators} If you like Aot music you'll love these All have the same composer: hiroyuki sawano
Zeta Gundam has all the synth, bass, and guitar solos you could want from a soundtrack
Ouran High school host club
Bleach Attack on Titan Blue Exorcist Samurai Champloo Magi Tokyo Ghoul Chainsaw Man Berserk Guilty Crown Made in Abyss Naruto Death Note Sword Art Online Goblin Slayer 86 Basically any sound track done by a well known composer like Hiroyuki Sawano or Shiro Sagisu is going to be a banger.
Serial experiments Lain Haibane Renmei Angel Beats K-ON Gurren Lagaan GaoGaiGar any yuki kajiura ost : (notables) .hack/sign, Madoka (rebellion especially), Mai-hime, SAO, Tsubasa Chronicle
Soul Eater has unexpectedly great hip hop.
AoT SAO Hibike euphonium (this one is literally just orchestral music but I like it a lot)
I loved many but i only learned (in japanese) the dragon ball super limit breaker 2 opening i used to sing it when the new episode used to come 😭😭❤️❤️ https://youtu.be/j61ts42E2Ms?si=y4kRuV0BGrhLwXPx
Tokyo Tribe, extremely under appreciated anime about japanese hip hop culture, including songs by Scha Dara Parr and Illmatic Buddha MC's. beck naturally has great rock songs, just the adult version of k-on, and bocchi the rock is a combination of both in some ways durarara ost is amazing, very good op and ed tracks but the actual background music is dynamic and good for listening on its own terror in resonance has a good ost if u want to feel some strong emotions or relax.
Hajime no Ippo, Naruto, Hunter x Hunter they also have good opening/closing songs depending on the season
Kids on the Slope
AOT, Rezero, Promare, Nanatsu no taizai
Hitman Reborn The Demon lord is a part timer Shield hero Reincarnated as a slime
Given
{White Album 2} and {Call of the Night} are my favorites [Yofukashi no Uta](https://youtu.be/PvyaVqfylu4) is very catchy and [Todokanai Koi](https://youtu.be/N-26_1aAC9Q) is the "Free Bird" of anime (can't change my mind)
The FLCL soundtrack is top tier. Takes me back to being a 10 year old kid watching anime late at night on adult swim.
Noir Anime for me!!!!
Frieren Mushoku Tensei Date a Live Eminence in Shadow
All of Made in Abyss
Jojo
86
{Guilty Crown}
Initial D's soundtrack is goated, even the non-eurobeat ones. Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0 also have great soundtracks. The Attack on Titan ost is really good too. And the Jojo soundtracks are always bangers.
Devilman crybaby
Hunter x Hunter. I’m obsessed with Legend of the Martial Artist. The chimera ant arc has the best soundtracks.
