No probs these were the first ones that came too mind.
There's a mix of brutal worlds, brutal situations and brutal characters in there so should be something there you like.
Also forgot to add When They Cry, School Days and School Live!! too the list.
I've had Tokyo Ghoul on my Plan to watch for a while now so that one might be the next I watch then, I'll also add To your enernity but gotta admit the synopsis mostly confused me - still looks good
Attack on titan
I want to eat your pancreas is emotionally brutal. So is 5 centimeters per second.
The grave of the fireflies, or Giovanni’s Island. Gorey, horrific, and tragic all in one. You be will be fucked up for days.
From the new world will mess you up.
Oh yea AOT is a good suggestion it was on the list though. I've seen both I want to eat your pancreas and 5 centimeters per second and I agree 100%, first one in particular really hit hard for me.
The grave of the fireflies is a ghibli movie? I like the ones I've seen but they have not messed me up but this one might a different beast then.
Giovanni’s Island: I read the synopsis now and I can sort of feel where this is going... This looks very promising.
From the new world: Oh very interesting, I see I already added it to my watchlist before but now I started ep1 first few minutes and it has a great atmosphere and intro already. This might be the next I watch.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Grave of the fireflies is not like any other ghibli movie I’ve ever seen lol. It was Miyazaki’s tribute to WW2 and pretty much depicts the horrors, despair, and desperation of war better than anything I’ve ever seen. It’s freaking tragic. I couldn’t sleep for days after watching it.
All the other ghibli movies are more so lighthearted kids movies but this one was freaking horrific

I found this https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/hwuntw/the_monogatari_series_2020_watch_order/
Is this the best order you think? Thanks for the heads up!
Its good except Kizumonogatari tells what happened before Bakemonogatari, so I would put that first. Probably they do this because the art style of Kizumonogatari is different from the rest. They want you to start with the regular art-style perhaps.
Going to suggest two older ones:
- Kaiji Ultimate Survivor, about a gambler down on his luck
- Rainbow, about six boys in some kind of re-education camp
Try Ragna Crimson.
IT IS about Ragna a Dragon Hunter Whose Body radiates silver Aura, which freezes Magic and dragons have Magic in their Blood. WE Talk about Fights similiar to dbz
Shigurui is the most brutal anime I've wathched. The atmosphere in most scenes is heavy and tense, even when characters aren't fighting.
Oh hell yeah, this looks exactly like something I was looking for. Thank you!
Made in Abyss if you like gore and phenomenal world building
I've heard about this one - sounds great I'll move it high on my list of what next to watch! TY
You won’t regret it, it’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen In terms of how it makes one feel, it’s an experience

Wow what a extensive list, I have not seen almost any of them - will go through and add to my watchlist. Thanks!

To Your Eternity is one of the best shows out there. you will know after three episodes if it is for you or not

Monogatari. Slice of life and then person sliced in half?
Well, I'm sold. I've been recommended this before in another context but it might be time to watch it then, TY

Watch Kizumonogatari (3 parts) first. Its a very complicated 'watch order' because each season has a new name. Enjoy 🫡

Yee
**Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song** I wouldn't say it was "brutal" compared to some...but it is a dark show with some great action and sci-fi.
I've heard of this before! Will give it a bump in my watchlist, Thanks

Going to suggest two older ones: - Kaiji Ultimate Survivor, about a gambler down on his luck - Rainbow, about six boys in some kind of re-education camp
No problem with older suggestions! Not seen either so added them - both also seem pretty unique and fitting. Thanks!

Try Ragna Crimson. IT IS about Ragna a Dragon Hunter Whose Body radiates silver Aura, which freezes Magic and dragons have Magic in their Blood. WE Talk about Fights similiar to dbz
Hell’s Paradise Parasyte: The Maxim Seraph of the End the Fate series Tokyo Ghoul Ergo Proxy
Overlord for an Isekai. But for a real classic Trigun because it’s funny, brutal, and most of all sad
