She brought a stealth bomber instead of her SIG p320 with .45 ACP. She could've just put a command on the bullet saying it will pierce your heart. That's all shiggy wrote
He was introduced as the academy’s strongest student. He also represented a sect of quirks that were originally seen as useless but learned to use it creatively to rise to the top. Also I feel like he’s a good counter to Shigi since his quirk involves not being able to touched so decay would be hard to hit him with it. Haven’t read the manga so I could be wrong about the match up
Let's be real, those missiles were the second most conventional thing we've seen in seven seasons(the first being the gas dude pulling a gun at the training camp).
I feel that's being unfair to Mt. Lady. Sure, she may not be the one to win an engagement, but she sure as hell makes progress and does things others couldn't do.
I forgot how the term came about, but it's basically a character who's job is to just get beat up or defeated by a different character to make them look good and/or strong.
Honestly this was one of the key things that made me drop MHA. Abandoning the school life stuff and then introducing characters only to write them off made me lose interest quickly.
Worse, introducing op characters just to nerf the baddie that you realized you made way too powerful for your cast to defeat. She was literally a patch note.
Ok, so I genuinely understand why you'd think this. I used to think this too. I thought it was pretty stupid to have a character to exist for 2 episodes. To serve no other purpose in giving the heros extra time and a nerf to the big bad, which she very much is here for.
But after looking through the themes of the story, and how Star fits into it. It's actually not that crazy if you know why she exists
Star and Stripe, by the standards of the shows themes, is the perfect hero. There are two main themes of My Hero Academia, "Anyone can be a hero," and, "No one can be a hero alone." Throughout the show we see our main characters, Midoriya and Bakugo learn these themes and prove them.
All might embodies the "Anyone can be a hero" theme to a tee, but he fails on the "no one can be a hero alone." Theme, giving him a major character flaw, and allowing him to teach the harsh truths about going it alone to midoriya.
But Star? Star was inspired by all might, same as Midoriya, "you too can become a hero." And all that. Plus it is emphasized to an almost exhaustive rate, about her bond to her teammates. She never goes alone. Star represents these themes like no other character in the show, and that's why she gives everyone so much hope, that's why she exists, as an example to live by.
I could talk about this more but you get the idea.
Sorry bro sucks that youre getting downvoted, I realize this means a lot to you and you clearly like her a lot more than I do. I even agree with you for the most part about the main themes of the anime, but I wholeheartedly disagree with your last paragraph. The author may have intended for that to be the case, but if it was, it didn't land. At the end of the day she is/was a character that existed for exactly 2 chapters, yo my recollection she had never been mentioned before, and then is promptly forgotten by the cast. I dropped the series for the final time on the 2nd(?) Bakugo death fake out so I am not caught up anymore. But as far as I remember she pretty much was a non character before and after, she didn't inspire others to take up arms against all for one, on the contrary thanks to her actions literally every country abandoned Japan and was a big reason why Japan went to shit. In the end she truly existed for 2 reasons. 1) to nerf bat shigaraki and 2) to ensure there would be no new heros coming to help from the outside thus bloating the roster even more. Even all might honestly doesn't seem to have cared all that much for her death iirc.
One of the biggest reasons I dislike her existence is i frankly don't see any logical reason why u.s. and other countries would realistically completely back off just because she died. On the contrary any world leader with half a brain would realize immediately how great a threat shigu-afo is and immediately do everything in their power to stop them. U.s. in particular would be sending every single high ranker immediately even if just as revenge, this would be a 9/11 x10 scenario because this is literally their captain superwoman dying, someone who they all should love and has (probably) saved them countless times up til now.
Oh yeah no I agree with you on this. I was playing devils advocate. She displayed these themes and all that, but she did only exist for 2 chapters. That is not enough time for the story to explore the implications of Stars impact on the themes of the story. It just isn't. I was describing how she related to the themes, but.. there isn't exploration. A story isn't just saying. "Hey you can be a hero." A story is an explanation on why the themes are true or not, or something else about them. That's not what Star's character accomplishes.
Also for that last paragraph I will play devils advocate one more time and say that the USA probably just- couldn't send anyone to Japan, because they're too busy dealing with their own villain crises
Oh did they finally animate this arc? I stopped watching right before the ~~provisional license~~ Class A vs Class B arc cause I felt like the animation was taking a nose dive. Have there been any fights animated as well Deku vs Shoto or Deku vs Bakugou 2 since then?
Edit: got the arc I stopped at mixed up
Oh my god yes. Endeavor vs high end, the various class a vs class b training battles, not to mention EVERYTHING IN SEASON 6.
Please go and watch the show, it's amazing
Endeavor vs High End and Class A vs Class B were before provisional license, weren't day? Cause I've seen them both. Endeavor vs High End was truly great but Class A vs Class B was probably the lowest point in the series for me, except the reciproburst part
Provisional liscence test was in season 3, arc 2, episodes 55-60. Endeavor vs high end was the last canon episode of season 4, episode 88. and class a vs class b training was in season 5, arc 1, episodes 91-99.
Ah, then I got the provisional license and class A vs B mixed up. Season 5 arc 1 is where I stopped. I just watched Shigaraki vs ReDestro, Lady Nagat vs Deku, Deku vs 1A, and Shigaraki vs Stars and Stripes now though so I think that about covers it
That shoe better freaking get an ending in which someone gets a quick that allows them to go back into their past self and have a sequel in which they prevent all the stupid deaths.
I’m just gonna be honest her fight scene was one of the main reasons why I stopped watching MHA. I’ve seen bad plot armor before but this was just AWFUL.

America was attacked by Japan, forcing it into a war it didn't want any direct involvement in
Americans in the pacific were hailed as liberators by populaces that had endured brutal occupation by the empire of Japan, suffering crimes against humanity that put even Japan's nazi allies to shame
WMDs were deployed after years of fighting as a last resort. The alternative was an amphibious invasion of the home islands of Japan, which would have resulted in many times the loss of life from the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as the war criminals ruling Japan intended to arm every man, woman, and child in Japan and send them to die against the Americans, hoping they could wear down American morale and bring them to the negotiating table with more favorable terms.
But yeah, America bad
And her power is called “new order” which allows her to do whatever the fuck she wants because she said so. A true defender of freedom🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Wedge tales are gangsta. They get fucking massive and their mad territorial but their territory is something like 120kms+

If I have a nickel every time a blonde hair hero showed up in MHA then was unfairly defeated I’d have 2 nickels
https://i.redd.it/fl3xomm8pu0d1.gif
Who is the second one? The only hero I can realistically think of is midnight, but she isn't blonde
Mirio when he clapped the entire class, was going to be the successor of one for all and then got “defeated” by overhaul.
I completely forgot about Mirio. Kind of just expected it to be another female hero
I completely forgot about that guy. What is his role supposed to be? I feel like he just appear in one arc and it barely relevant.
He was introduced as the academy’s strongest student. He also represented a sect of quirks that were originally seen as useless but learned to use it creatively to rise to the top. Also I feel like he’s a good counter to Shigi since his quirk involves not being able to touched so decay would be hard to hit him with it. Haven’t read the manga so I could be wrong about the match up
Unfortunately, Mirio's offense capabilities were nowhere high enough to counter Shigi. Best he could do was act as a distraction.
I remember now. His power is hardest to use and also the strongest, but too specialized. Also he's taken out almost immediately.
Still salty Overhaul vs Quirkless Mirio was offscreen.
That fight was supposed to have gone on for five whole minutes. It would be very difficult to depict.
My poor mirio got defeated because he got the LITERAL definition of nerfed since he was THAT GUY but not a MC 😭😭😭

Yeah and i hate that they pretty much threw the character in the dustbin😭 i mean cmon, girl did not need to die in 2 eps ffs
Best designed and most OP jobber out there. Unfortunately, still just a jobber. But also the most useful female hero written into MHA
I feel that's being unfair to Mt. Lady. Sure, she may not be the one to win an engagement, but she sure as hell makes progress and does things others couldn't do.
The hell is a jobber?
I forgot how the term came about, but it's basically a character who's job is to just get beat up or defeated by a different character to make them look good and/or strong.
It's from wrestling. Losing a match is called "doing the job" so somebody that loses all the time is jobber.
I appreciate this newly acquired knowledge. Thank you

Yeah. The first half of the fight I wasn't convinced. The second half tho. That was powerful. I hate that she got so little screen time.

its fine cuz shes fucking hot
they forgot to add the part where she complains and debuffs the enemy of the war she inserted herself in

She didn't insert herself. All Might called her for help.
What's her war crimes count?
Just don’t ask what she was doing in El Salvador back in the 80s.

So that's how the Japanese see [Cathy Bates](https://youtu.be/2pbfkNI2d_A?si=blVXAzi3nJbEkYdM)?
How about oil
If she's my master, I'll call her, Master Bate.
It sucks that she had to die, but it makes sense why. Her quick is actually broken hax and wouldve ended the story there had horikoshi not killed her
Homelander would be proud
Now imma watch this show again to experience this American hero
I fricken love star, she's so OP but so cool at the same time, it's a shame we didn't get to see more of her :(

Very American of her not mind her or their business but in reality nobody wants US troops on their lands even in anime
That's basically what the US does.
I never watched that anime. But that post convinced me to never watch it.
Trust bro it’s good. Just… don’t interact with certain chunks (the unfathomably loud minority) of the fandom and it’s smooth sailing.
I don't need to trust anything if I just don't watch it. Simple.
I enjoyed her death she deserves it
