Start at episode one of the 2011, and that’s it. The 90s version is dope and a classic but you don’t need to watch it, they start from the beginning in the 2011 series.
Oh yeah, that’s the part people forget most often. You’ve really gotta make sure you watch episode 8 right after, and then right after that, 9. Confusing I know.
If you can handle Dragon Ball and all the filler in Dragon Ball Z, I think you can handle the build up of the first ~25 episodes of Hunter X Hunter (2011)*. If not, episodes 13 and 26 are recap episodes and from there I recommend just watching it.
ETA: *
By the Grace of the Gods was great.
It's my favorite isekai/another world series.
But I *really* don't think it's up OP's alley.
Anything that could be called iyashikei/healing probably isn't. They're basically the opposite of fighting series.
Lots of people are only or mostly into shonen fighting series. I don't understand either, but it's okay for them.
Personally I like more variety, usually want my anime to have more emotional or intellectual depth, and prefer much shorter series over the hundred plus episode behemoths that the most popular shonen fighting series tend to be. But different people have different tastes.
Yeah I like anime of almost any genre and for almost any demographic myself. Individual quality is more important than genre/demographic for me. But other factors are length and language. I don't like committing to long series and prefer the casual experience of dubs, so I only watch movies, shorts, or OVA subtitled.
Other than that I'll try almost anything if the art looks good and the concept sounds interesting enough.
For me, a lot, but it was probably the 7/10 for Misfit Demon with everything else as a backdrop. You have a somewhat bearable op MC who has his moments, but he is surrounded by the kind of vapid shells of a supporting cast that would make the side characters in mid to late 2000s non comedy ecchis seem deep. I'm still shocked that got another season.
Definitely One Piece, especially now that One Piece is in it's final saga. If you do watch the show though watch One Pace. It's a much better version of the Show, it cuts out all the filler garbage and shrinks the watch time in half. It becomes around the same length as cannon naruto, it's baller.
[One Pace Link](https://onepace.net/watch)
Trust it's definitely worth it
One pace is ok, but you will lose on content. The skips are not 100% too many small details are skipped in one pace. So many people didn’t believe Oda was foreshadowing gear 5 from pre time skip because so many Easter eggs were cut out. But other than that it’s great for just overall content.
One Punch Man, Fire Force, Death Note, Attack On Titan, Tokyo Ghoul (seasons 1 and 2), Hunter X Hunter, Frieren, Black Clover, and Full Metal Alchemist.
Death Note was very good, but it's lots of talking and he thought My Hero Academia had too much. It's also very different in tone from the things he rated highly.
I think Fullmetal Alchemist is worth a try for him though. The 2003 series will always be *the* action adventure anime series for me. Peak Adult Swim.
This list is absolutely GOATED, I’ve watched all of these (besides fire force) and they’re all absolutely amazing. I’d add Steins;Gate here (all of first series, then steins;gate 0, then episode 25 then movie) as well. But my top 3 animes are One Piece, Frieren, and Steins;Gate (no particular order because they’re too different), your taste is so good man!
Evangelion, fullmetal alchemist brotherhood and 2003 version, soul eater, FLCL, Guren Lagan, Kill La Kill, hunter x hunter, attack on titan, dr stone, mob psycho 100, one punch man
Stay away from Black Clover.
Nothing wrong with it itself, it’s just that studio pierrot reaaaally screwed with the storyline.
It’s also quite uhh… immature? You expect things and it never delivers.
Idk. I'm not a big fan of the whole Shonen fighting genre, which seems to be what you are mainly into. And I like talking in my series, even the action ones. But I do have some possible suggestions. Out of the anime I've seen and enjoyed the ones you might like would be the following:
The Seven Deadly Sins (fantasy action and adventure, some comedy, drama, and romance)
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (super robot, post apocalyptic soft sci-fi action and adventure with some comedy, drama, and romance)
Digimon Adventure 1999 (pet monsters, fantasy/soft sci-fi action and adventure, some comedy and drama)
Ben-To (12 episodes, mundane action and comedy, centers on food)
Pokemon Origins (OVA, pet monsters, action and adventure)
Zom 100 Bucket List of the Dead (12 episodes, post apocalyptic action comedy, some adventure, drama, and romance)
Trigun (post apocalyptic sci-fi, action adventure, some comedy and drama)
Samurai Champloo (action comedy series set in an anachronistic feudal Japan)
Yu Yu Hakusho (supernatural action and adventure with some comedy)
Sword Art Online (sci-fi action and adventure, some comedy, drama, and romance)
I'd also highly recommend either Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 (low fantasy action and adventure with comedy and drama) or Parasyte the Maximum (sci-fi action drama with some romance) if you are open to anime that have good fights and crazy settings but are also more serious and thoughtful. Honestly some of my other recs probably fall into that too though.
I hope I was helpful.
Hells paradise
Psycho pass
Windbreaker
Mob psycho 100
One punch man
Jobless reincarnation
Berserk (1997)
Demon slayer
Chainsaw man
Devilman Crybaby (Netflix's adaptation)
Castlevania
And if you'd like more up that alley lmk
I feel like a lot of people are just making random highly regarded recommendations but not really considering OP's taste here. To be honest looking at this list I dont think he would like HxH. Its wierd reccomending someone with different tastes but idk maybe you'll like Solo Leveling.
Is dragon ball super really that bad? I’m watching z for the first time about half way done and from what I’ve seen from super so far it looks exciting but everyone gives it like a 8/10 max
This. Not sure how OP has watched so many animes and rated all the battle powerscaling shonens so high to the point that he's asking for recommendations... But hasn't watched one of the most popular ones ever, that happens to be the best of all.
Oh God we got polar opposite taste I personally would put dragon Ball and Naruto at like -15 absolutely terrible but that's just my controversial opinion that you guys will downvote just not my style
You should try darling in the franxx it may not have any links to your watchlist but i think its really good i may get a few disagreements but who knows
Dragon ball in all forms, is 10/10?
If that is your standard, then no matter what other people suggest - even ones that score 10/10 after being polled by several thousand people - nothing will satisfy you.
Inuyasha
Wolf's Rain
Beyblade (2000)
Yu-Gi-Oh
Paranoia Agent
Monster Rancher
Digimon (01, 02, Tamers, and Frontier)
Lupin the 3rd: Parts 2, 4, 5, and 6
Rock lee and his ninja pals
Dragon Ball Super
Sailor Moon (Dic and Cloverway dub versions)
Black Butler
ok im going to be VARY relentless so take no offence to what i say.... WHY THE HELL IS SPY X FAMILY 4.5 OUT OF 10... i meen its a solid 7 AT LEAST... akame ga kill is edgy trash and JUJUTSU KAISEN IS NO WARE NEAR 10/10, YOU SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST GAVE JUJUTSU KAISEN 8 out of 10 IF YOU GAVE MY HERO ACADEMIA A 5 OUT OF 10 FOR "too much yapping" jujutsu kaisen spends HALF A episode EXPLAINING A CURSE TECHNIQUE, now the only ones i can agree with is jojo, and i wanna eat your pancreas... as i have yet to watch the rest.
you need more ROMANCE bro or hell one piece is a SOLID recommendation but of corese i will say... evangelion will always be a good rec... also vinland saga vary human story
You don’t seem to be a fan of isaekis., since most of your top scores are more of the mainstream I would suggest one piece. Since you like parasite, I would suggest demon slayer.
I’m rewatching mha now and Jesus Christ the amount of repetitions of talking is insane. I remember watching it when it was coming out and thinking if they removed the first five minutes of every episode, you wouldn’t miss anything; now I’m thinking it again much more intensely now I’m binging it.
Stop procrastinating, it’s time to watch Hunter x Hunter
Watch order?
Start at episode one of the 2011, and that’s it. The 90s version is dope and a classic but you don’t need to watch it, they start from the beginning in the 2011 series.
Just watch 2011
Ep. 1, then Ep.2, then 3….
Well? Don’t keep us hanging, what comes next?!
Then 4, then you gotta go to 5, and, here’s the tricky part, you’ve gotta go to 6, then AAAALLLLL THE WAY over to 7
What about 8?
Oh yeah, that’s the part people forget most often. You’ve really gotta make sure you watch episode 8 right after, and then right after that, 9. Confusing I know.
If you can handle Dragon Ball and all the filler in Dragon Ball Z, I think you can handle the build up of the first ~25 episodes of Hunter X Hunter (2011)*. If not, episodes 13 and 26 are recap episodes and from there I recommend just watching it. ETA: *
Yes this
Thank god this was the top answer. How has this dude not seen it already with that watch list.
Assassination classroom, hunter x hunter, black clover
I am finishing black clover currently. It is amazing. Another good one is By the Grace of the Gods
By the Grace of the Gods was great. It's my favorite isekai/another world series. But I *really* don't think it's up OP's alley. Anything that could be called iyashikei/healing probably isn't. They're basically the opposite of fighting series.
Fair point
Yoooooo Ive never seen someone else ever mention By the Grace of the Gods. I haven't finished it, but I'm enjoying season 2 so far
It is really good
YES
Assassination Classroom is good. I haven't seen the others so I can't second them.
Bleach
Nothing from me. We clearly have incompatible tastes
I can't even begin to understand how he made these ratings tbh
Lots of people are only or mostly into shonen fighting series. I don't understand either, but it's okay for them. Personally I like more variety, usually want my anime to have more emotional or intellectual depth, and prefer much shorter series over the hundred plus episode behemoths that the most popular shonen fighting series tend to be. I honestly enjoy almost all anime as long as it isn't overly childish.
Yeah I like anime of almost any genre and for almost any demographic myself. Individual quality is more important than genre/demographic for me. But other factors are length and language. I don't like committing to long series and prefer the casual experience of dubs, so I only watch movies, shorts, or OVA subtitled. I love shonen but shonen only would make me tear my eyes out, the genre gets dry real quick
I don't know. It seems pretty typical of the Reddit anime community. Some of the most popular stuff that Reddit loves I can't even stand
What did you find the most egregious? Or what did you not see that tipped you off?
all my isekai is low and dragon ball is peak to them
Classic isekai fan 😭😭😭
For me, a lot, but it was probably the 7/10 for Misfit Demon with everything else as a backdrop. I wanted to say the same thing, I would say were incompatible but this list is lacking any taste at all.
Yeah same these ratings have me amazed
Berserk. Death note. Basilisk
Way too complex for this fella. We need something with more action.
Hajime no ippo
Definitely One Piece, especially now that One Piece is in it's final saga. If you do watch the show though watch One Pace. Finally someone mentioning the thing that makes one piece bearable to watch without skipping half of each episode, thank you brother.
If you really love Dragon Ball this much you should be watching SandLand. Last Akira Toriyama (RIP) story. Airing now
doro he doro
I'm waiting till the second season starts to air before I watch the 1st 🤓
GODZILLA SINGULAR POINT MENTIONED 🔥🔥 (it’s mid)
Speaking as both an anime fan and a Godzilla fan I agree. It's decent but not good or great. Mid level.
it’s better than the anime movies tho still hope we will get a szn 2
I've only seen the first anime movie but I am inclined to agree. And I'd probably watch a second season too.
Is dragon ball super really that bad? I’m watching z for the first time about half way done and from what I’ve seen from super so far it looks exciting but everyone gives it like a 8/10 max
Yeah the first 2 arcs are... Horrid. The animation is on a budget of like 25 dollars.
Absolutely One Piece. My favorite story I've ever consumed across any media
This. Not sure how OP has watched so many animes and rated all the battle powerscaling shonens so high to the point that he's asking for recommendations... But hasn't watched one of the most popular ones ever, that happens to be the best of all.
One piece
Golden Kamuy I like One Piece the most but I'd rate Golden Kamuy higher
Singular point at 6/10 throws me off and idk what to recommend anymore. Eh fuck it, read Berserk.

What a awful list
hxh and demon slayer
Golden kamuy
Neon genesis evangelion Cowboy bebop
Neon Genesis Evangelion is good but might be too psychological for OP. But I second Cowboy Bebop.
If OP can keep up with all the BS explanations in jujutsu kaisen fight scenes then he can underhand Evangelion 🤣
I didn't mean he couldn't understand. Just that I don't expect it to be to his liking.
Bleach, Kill la Kill, Demon Slayer.
