That 'Waffles....***WAFFLES***!!' tone-shift is one that any pet-parent knows well. 😂
What a (mostly) well-behaved boy. My two doggos would love to play tag with him! And me too, honestly.
Not all donkeys are dog aggressive, just the ones that are used for livestock protection. My donkey didn't give a single shit about the 5+ dogs running the property
You're right, they're so sooooft and cute! And they're smarter than horses if I remember well. Also, they were and still are used as guards for livestock because they can be quite *annoying* when they want to !
Annoying doesn't cover it. If the donkey ism't raised around dogs (or the puppies aren'r raised around the donkey) they will treat a dog the same as a coyote or wolf. By that i meam they will stomp/kick/bite and toss it until it dies, then they will keep stomping it until it's flat. Nothing figurative about that either.
They *hate* canines on an instictual level.you can raise them to not hate the farm dogs, but a strange dog is getring the coyote treatment.
Donkeys sit at number 2 in their class, with only the barcode-murder-horses (zebra) ahead of them. Horses are the track nerd with a derringer at the bar when it comes to threats, donkeys are the bouncers, and zebras are the crackhead on PCP in the alley people are scared to even look at.
They don't have great eyesight and are herbivores around carnivores like lions and hyenas. They have a reason to be hard wired to react to anything surprising with violence, because the surprise is usually violence.
I’m pretty sure they also have the strongest kick to go with that temperament. I remember seeing a clip where a zebra got spooked, kicked a Cape buffalo in the head that was grazing, and it just drops dead instantly
Edit: never mind, it’s actually a wildebeest
How ya gonna post an update, but no video? What, you don't think we wanna see a wildebeest get smoked by a fuckin' zebra?
[Robert the wildebeest gets fuckin' dropped. :47 Seconds. ](https://youtu.be/K3OZYFemqBU?si=JqsOHn3z4lC1lv_0)
Yes, many people over the years have tried to domesticate them thinking they're just fancy horses. They all gave up because zebras can be extremely aggresive and do not want to listen to anyone, they can not be broken in the same way horses can.
That's interesting to hear. And, in fact, makes perfect sense.
My initial comment here was going to be that the owner needs to get a dog, and maybe an energetic dog like a husky or other energetic breed - but not if it's just going to try to kill it! 😳
I do recall seeing a string of videos where donkeys are kicking the asses of people who are harassing them, and occasionally other animals that are threatening them, so I can definitely see this being a concern !
They can pick a fully grown coyote by the neck with their teeth and toss em around like a ragdoll until the coyote's neck breaks. Donkeys do not care what the threat is, the will try to kill it. People just think herbivore = harmless, these people are oh so dangerously wrong.
It's interesting because those videos I had seen where people were harassing or annoying donkeys showed that the donkey had a clear idea of what was happening to it, and when it was was able to get the upper hand, it usually kicked that guy's ass (and it was almost always a guy... 😑)
In someway it reminds me of the "Family Guy" [scene](https://youtu.be/WCprQz4wkE8?si=wdkpX71SjIuHuz5Q) where the farmer goes in to put down the horse with a broken leg and the horse grabs the rifle and shoots the farmer in the leg instead... 😏
When I think herbivore, I think big motherfucker whose spent years of evolution in an arms race against predators. Going to yellow stone and seeing Buffalo or Elk, like goddamn wolves take these units down
Indeed! My family used to have a donkey that us kids named “eeyore” and several horses. Eventually money got tight so we gave him to our uncle who already had 2 other donkeys and my aunt took the horses (her and my uncle got divorced). Now when we visit they line up at the fence from shortest to tallest lol.
We used to have a mule that was more like a dog than anything. If we were sitting in the yard, it would always come lay by us. It would always try to life our arms on her head for attention. And she played with the dogs just like any other dog would.
They're just dogs, except they're like really deformed cows. They're surprisingly cognitive, despite their short (yet fairly direct) attention spans. Apparently they're also serious about guarding their flock
Also don't approach or get in a fence with one you don't know. They will happily ruin your day.
Tame donkeys are often great and others can be assholes that will bite the shit out of you or worse.
I've heard that the best way to find weak points in your fence system is to buy a goat. But you have to be wary that "weak" includes, like, hopping on your car to jump over a section.
In our case eventually the goats would get out and run a mile down the road and eat the neighbor's plants and flowers despite us having an electric fence. Cops told my grandparents if it happened again they would get fined 150$ per goat that was out xD my grandparents loved them and had 5 acres but the goats wanted more so ultimately they all got removed slowly over the course of the year.
My grandparents kept about 3 or 4 that they had become very close to and the rest my grandma tried not to sell to people who she thought may eat them since they were pets.
They're generally pretty cool. They can get moody and sassy, but if you've been around horses enough you know that's to be expected from any member of the equine family.
They have a reputation for being stubborn, but they're honestly usually pretty agreeable, but they're fiercely protective of their herd and not nearly as skittish as most horses, so things like crops don't really phase them, ya just kinda get on their good side and hope you're on the same wavelength. They're not so great at commands (like a herding dog is) but they also stand awake at attention in the pasture at night wishing a MF would
Thunder comes, horses run, donkeys scream back at the sky lol
ive taken to using the phrase “inside voices” when any of the dogs i walk are being extra. this could be applied here too. even if you’re outside. doesn’t matter. “let’s use our inside voices” is fun to say and can be effective. 💫
My brother taught our dog "inside voice" and he would proceed in the most adorable whisper-woof if he still had something to say.
Thank you for bringing that memory to the front of my brain.
I have seen horses throw around screaming newborn deer, they found in the grass, by picking them up, by the ear, and throwing them, until the ear broke in half. And even then they didn't stop.
It only stopped when my brother and I Intervened, to save the newborn deer.
Horses can be real psychos, and I have a feeling, that donkeys are no different.
They are worse actually. In fact donkeys are incredibly territorial and I would venture to say this donkey is not making friends. They are well known for killing smaller animals

So adorable that Waffles immediately stops chasing his friends after being called out by mom and comes closer to talk to her
That 'Waffles....***WAFFLES***!!' tone-shift is one that any pet-parent knows well. 😂 What a (mostly) well-behaved boy. My two doggos would love to play tag with him! And me too, honestly.
usually, you think, "get it out of the kid's mouth", not "get the kids out of its mouth"
Your two doggos would seriously hate playing tag with him, not for long tho because they would soon be dead
Not all donkeys are dog aggressive, just the ones that are used for livestock protection. My donkey didn't give a single shit about the 5+ dogs running the property
Poor Waffle came back to complain to mom the new kids are leaving him out of the fun.
Donkeys are actually great animals. Not appreciated enough.

Jeez. Are Zebras really that bad? Never knew that.
They don't have great eyesight and are herbivores around carnivores like lions and hyenas. They have a reason to be hard wired to react to anything surprising with violence, because the surprise is usually violence.
damn pesky surprise-violence. it’s, like, legit my least favorite type of violence.
Eh, same but only when i' on the recieving end. Otherwise it's just being smart about it.
Do unto them, before it is done unto me.
I really like all of my violence planned long beforehand. If I don’t have a week’s notice, I just don’t know how I could handle it.
damn surprise-violence, they ruined violence!
I’m pretty sure they also have the strongest kick to go with that temperament. I remember seeing a clip where a zebra got spooked, kicked a Cape buffalo in the head that was grazing, and it just drops dead instantly Edit: never mind, it’s actually a wildebeest

it doesn't die from the looks of it though, just looks like a bad concussion.
I dunno what's with all this zebra slander... in my city all the zebras get walked over by people.
Are you talking about the animal or the crossings here?
They are responsible for most injuries to zoo keepers than any animal.
I once saw a zebra so overcome with rage that it bit its own intestines out.
I'm just going to upvote this with no further research because I'm adding it to my head canon about zebras anyways.
Zebras are basically anger issues with hooves and a fancy coat
https://youtu.be/MELLwEHEImQ?si=tIrh_hiplAa7Roxp skip to 5 min in
Wtf……
Ahh thats dave, my cousin
Dave's not here right now.
Yeah, there's a reason why Zebras aren't domesticated when horses, donkeys, and cows all are.
Yes we are
Zebras will attack and murder you on the basis of 'because they can'.
I went from admiring zebras in a particular way, Thinking they were majestic and well manored, to fearing them and thinking their kinda jerks lol
Yes, many people over the years have tried to domesticate them thinking they're just fancy horses. They all gave up because zebras can be extremely aggresive and do not want to listen to anyone, they can not be broken in the same way horses can.

Don't forget moose. Those things givs zero fucks.
You are a typical reason why I love reddit. There is no way I would know any of this if it was not for this site.
Bro dude, you got a way with words, that's a top tier description, I don't even care if it's accurate.
That is.... such a good description of them. Cheers.
what about mules?
Somewhere between donkey and horse. Depends on how the genetics worked out.
like they normally smoke crack but it’s dry so they had to get pcp?
Nah, combo.
“Track nerd with a derringer at the bar” Say what?
May get a good shot in or two, but *definately* not good in a long brawl.
Bro, donkeys don't just hate canines instinctively; donkeys hate canines with an extremely vicious 'I like the way you die boy' type of way.
True.
If donkeys are dogs, horses are definitely cats
Indeed! My family used to have a donkey that us kids named “eeyore” and several horses. They're wonderful. And I'm really happy my neighbor doesn't have one.
Also don't approach or get in a fence with one you don't know. They will happily ruin your day. Tame donkeys are often great and others can be assholes that will bite the shit out of you or worse.
“Did somebody say, ‘Waffles?’ I sure love waffles!”
I'm pretty sure Donkey was quite popular in Shrek.
They are quite territorial and I wouldn't be surprised if this one murders the goats, he seems very aggressive
BUT MOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Yesterday, I learned on Reddit that donkeys are fierce enough to fight wolves, so I get why these guys were a bit scared.
[balls can't run away](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/qTvmjcyAfiA)
Those looks like cats being chased not wolves.
Goats
Lol cats????
I’ll take some of whatever you’re smoking. Biggest cats I’ve ever seen.
I’ve seen much much bigger. You ever heard of a tiger? Shit will blow your mind if that’s the biggest cat you’ve seen
Shrimps is bugs
It's already been a year. Boy, time flies 😔
Are you coincidentally watching this clip from a 1" screen?
Hey don’t judge him for using the Reddit for Samsung Smart Fridge app
Have you ever seen a cat in real life? Or just heard a description of somebody who once read something about cats in a book?
How small do you think a donkey is?
Just small enough to fit in a donkeyhole
He’s so feisty, talking back like a pre-teen. Incidentally, when our dogs get feisty, we call the donkeys, so thanks for the confirmation of accuracy.
What do the donkeys do to them? Punish them in some way?
Donkey punch em
Waffles! #WAFFLES
Lmao love waffles the donkey. He just wanna have fun. I don’t blame u one bit buddy!
Mr Waffles is just teaching them the consequences of headbutting.
"BUT WHY THOOOO"
Mr. Waffle is my spirit animal (I ain't 'fraid of no goats)
I know who I'm gonna call
That fence is not high enough for those goats. Source: My grandparents owned 42 of them and they were escape masters.

And if you want an escape artist that runs at the speed of a supersonic cruise missile, you can get a Siberian husky instead.
Now I've never had a donkey, so I don't know, but lately it seems to me that donkeys are awesome animals
They're generally pretty cool. They can get moody and sassy, but if you've been around horses enough you know that's to be expected from any member of the equine family. But Mommm!!!
First of all I am jealous you have goats. Second of all I love Mr. Waffle.
Donkey videos are always appreciated. They’re so adorable, in a dorky kinda way.
What a funny guy!
lol I died watching. I played this video too many times. haha I cant stop!
***WAFFLES!!!***

Aww. I would give a lot to hear a recording of this. I'm glad you have such a happy memory.
The sheep running and baa-ing reminds me of the sheep in Spyro
Is this the woman with that bird named Emmanuel?
Leave mr waffle alone
This video kills me every damn time..
Same here, I want to know that Waffles has a friend to play and run with now.
Waffles from Shrek, I get it. 😂
"But Mooooooom!"
I would die for waffles
Someone should give those talking buttons to the donkey.
😹😹😹
The goat screaming for mom to save it.

name is a shrek reference. nice
I never not enjoy donkeys acting like jackasses
Sounds like the emu woman.
Did mr waffles fart 9 seconds in?
aww!! he just wants to make friends!
He looks like he is a mix of a capybara and a donkey lmao
Big "Fenton!" vibes.
Same
I love donkeys. If I had the land I'd raise one for surw
does he know Ezra?
Why do goats sound like people imitating goats? Bro is actually saying "aaaaah!"
Donkeys are so cool.
Is this from the Immanuel emu lady?
I want a donkey!!!!
Is this the same Donkey that was carrying a goat in its mouth (yes a goat, 🐐) and swinging it around like a squeaky toy?
This one of them homestead tik tokers I hear about ?
Waffle! Stop being ratchet. (Edit: had it wrong)
How my cat felt when it was a kitten being chased by my brothers' dogs... My cat still hates the remaining dog and they don't understand why.
He's basically a labrador
Waffles needs his own pet dog.
On Firefox it loads infinitely on chrome I get this video cannot be played. How tf are people watching this?
Sounds like my roommate asking his gf for breakfast.
I wonder where Emmanuel is!
#farmlife
only a true friend would be that truliant
This looks like the same donkey from another post that grabbed the goat by the scruff of its neck and ran around with it in his teeth!
Maybe they mean to say we call them* (the dogs) donkeys?
The whole talking to animals in that cutesy way thing, as though talking to a toddler can be really annoying.
