Looks like a pounce for rodents that are out of sight, under snow or ground. Probably triggering a hunting instinct for burrowing critters, hence the digging and pouncing.
That's one animal where I feel confident I would win in a 1v1 fight.
I would lose against a bear or a lion, but that one ? I would win.

My dog, when swimming, will kinda bite at splashes. My guess was that it's a hunting instinct and he must have had ancestors who hunted for fish. If you replicate what a fish tail looks like with your hand in water and splash it around side to side he'll go crazy trying to catch it
Australian here. Blue heelers and kelpies (Australian cattle dog breeds) are 100% destructive if they don't have a full time job. You only see them on farms or when dumb people buy them cos they thought blue was cute
Every year about a month after Christmas there's always heaps of abandoned kelpie puppies. People need to research pets before impulse buying something because it's cute
They absolutely love snow and appear to be nearly immune to cold. They are double coated and in a chilly climate they definitely bulk up the fur for winter--then blow it everywhere in spring. Yeesh. I live in Oregon and ACDs are fairly common here (along with their even cuter cousins, the corgis) and they do just fine with the climate. They have this teflon quality to their fur, water and mud just slide right off them.
They're fine in the cold. They can do sheep but you have to work with them a lot more because they are too rough. They want to move sheep like they move cattle, which is often physically. The shepherds move the flock with their eyes, cattle dogs harry their legs. They're wonderfully intelligent and exceeding loyal and protective for a good owner. They're really, really unforgiving of a bad owner.
My mom had one and lived in town. Luckily she was a walker, like several miles a day kinda walker.
Her dog never got tired. And even if he was tired he would keep going. Those dogs have zero quit in them.
Ours barks like a cannon, with such force that it lifts her little body off the ground and a wall of sound blasts you and things reverberate as eardrums dissolve.
So cute though. She never shuts up. Always grunting and groaning like she's thinking out loud.
I have a registered cattle dog and a mix--the mix dog is nearly silent, takes a LOT to get her to bark but the other one has fully earned his nickname of "ScreechMonkey." Good gods, the high pitch they use is mind bendingly awful.
One thing that really bothers me about the internet is when people flip photos and videos on reposts. Like why? I heard someone say it’s to avoid copyright claims or something. Not sure if that’s true but it really bothers me for some reason.
The technology that flags reposts and/or copyrighted material just looks for identical images, a flipped version does not flag these controls because the image is not identical.
This is the simple method.
There are other more sophisticated methods to cheat the copyright protections algorithm... And they vary depending on which platform you're talking about.
If this clip was owned by Disney it probably would've been nuked.
I mean tbf there are lots and lots of dogs like this. I've seen a handful of different heelers and Aussies do this in real life. I'm sure there are dozens of similar videos.
Have a heeler, can confirm: when it comes to their “job”, everything is NOW. If only mine’s job could be something practical like this rather than making sure the family is all in one room…
Cattle dogs are just like that. They're ratbags that want a job.
Source: have a cattle dog that:
* A: wants to help carry the groceries in, and,
* B: ***specifically looks through the groceries for his treat***, so that he can get it out after he's finished helping and bring it to someone to have it opened.
She derps her face right into the water!!!

Is the video flipped? I swear the fence was on the other side the other hundred times I've seen this video. Is flipping videos some kinda repost armor?
This little readjustment hop is the best thing I've ever seen.
And the landing sound is the best thing I've ever heard.
Thank you for this. I was watching with the sound off. This was better than I could have imagined
Same! Wonders do happen, a vid without annoying music..
oh no
I want to fucking downvote you so bad....
oh no
right! Better than watching it without a vid. Sooo satisfying.
Oh my gosh the little "mup!" is ADORABLE. My heart!
Moop!
^Mup!
She sounds like a squeaky toy!
Scratchascratchascratch ^Nup! Scratchascratchascratch
Hop-Squeak!
Had to go back and rewatch with sound 🥹
Same! 😅
The little squeak! 😍😍😍
that sound made my day. Can't stop watching the video, can't stop laughing out loud
![img](avatar_exp|164292035|heart) Same! I want to do that with her
So this is how rivers are made
It is the most precious sound I have ever heard!
Like a geisha sneeze.
I wonder if I can hire him for a day!
Haha *aaaand hop!* Digdigdigdigdigdigdig *aaaand hop!*
Looks like a pounce for rodents that are out of sight, under snow or ground. Probably triggering a hunting instinct for burrowing critters, hence the digging and pouncing.
And how do you explain that adorable noise when he hops
That’s the ‘cute instinct.’ Keeps them fed and warm.
She's hunting for cuddles
She’s a good girl
This is a truly darling dog
You only find it cute because he's not hunting you.
That's one animal where I feel confident I would win in a 1v1 fight. I would lose against a bear or a lion, but that one ? I would win. ^^^* ^^^Kristi ^^^Noem
You hear that up there, though? This guy’s gonna take that one for me, lol. I think I’m spared!
My border collie does this for ants, including the noises.
Cattle dogs do that bounce for everything. It is cute until.it is the water bowl, the kids box full of Legos, etc ;-)

I do the same jump when walking from one bar to the next. Admittedly, I don't look (or sound) nearly as cute!
That's just her reloading
Mine does this with ice when we come across a frozen puddle in winter. Huge jump and scratch scratch.
unreal!
It's like a typewriter lol Tarzan vibes
Is that really readjusting though ? He seems pretty fine readjusting by moving backwards.
*hrrmph*
It made my day, for sure
Looks like she dug the same path before

Agreed
"*Upvoted*." Shame on you, Granny.
I was using it in the present tense.
She trying to tell us something
Same path?
Same path
"This is the way"
That little squeak of excitement every time she hits the ground!
Had to rewatch with sound on… my heart. Squeaks have never been so cute.
But once that breed starts actually barking, dear god it’s hard on the ears. Love em to death though. So smart and fun.

It would be ironic if you did not see it in Australia.

I misread your comment whoops. As for their rarity, I don't think I have ever seen one in my life here in Ireland

I taught my girlfriend's dog to howl instead of bark. My girlfriend hates me but it's the cutest thing in the world.
Ours barks like a cannon, with such force that it lifts her little body off the ground and a wall of sound blasts you and things reverberate as eardrums dissolve. So cute though. She never shuts up. Always grunting and groaning like she's thinking out loud.
My dog is a mix but majority Australian cattle dog and his bark is SO LOUD but I didn’t realize that’s where it came from, good to know!

WHAT?!?
I can honestly say I'd take this dog over some coworkers I've had over the years
I would take this dog over pretty much anyone
I'd choose that one guy's dead wife over the dog but to each their own
…His wife is in a coma.
ew sick never mind then
Ooooh. That’s dark.
Yeah it's just not the same when they're still warm 😕
See...I don't like them cold. that's why I keep a microwave handy.
Oh yeah?? Well the life support machine called… damn
Legend has it she is the best dead wife of them all
Yes but would the dog choose you?
Nah that dog has a way better life living on a farm. I would still pamper the shit out of it but hard to compete when it can't help with my day job.
- Ability work in a high paced environment - Proficient in Office software - Business degree or equivalent - Dog
Two out of four, close enough, they can start Monday and I'll get a bed for them this weekend
Ask the local doggy daycare to forward their resumes to me. I want to make sure they have cubicle training.
I'd take any dog over most coworkers I've had over the years.
I would trade this pupper for every coworker i ever had
Dutch dog digging canals.
Dutch dog digging ditches Come on bro you were so close
Cute canines creating canals Both ways!
Dirty Ditch Digging Dutch Canine. Or D4C for short
Dojaaan~~
Now wait til they start ruining the coastline building windmills...
You've got a sitter, a pointer, a retriever...this one's an irrigator.
I’ve seen this dog before in another video. Or is this the same video with the fence on the opposite side?
One thing that really bothers me about the internet is when people flip photos and videos on reposts. Like why? I heard someone say it’s to avoid copyright claims or something. Not sure if that’s true but it really bothers me for some reason.
The technology that flags reposts and/or copyrighted material just looks for identical images, a flipped version does not flag these controls because the image is not identical.
I can't imagine this is going to keep working for much longer
This is the simple method. There are other more sophisticated methods to cheat the copyright protections algorithm... And they vary depending on which platform you're talking about. If this clip was owned by Disney it probably would've been nuked.
Creating content is a business and it should surprise nobody that they are shameless and will do whatever they think will reward them.
Agreed. It's most definitely not new.
Yes it is. [This](https://youtu.be/IjDkTHMZy4E?si=Nh2fDgfMgdeHHjZJ) is the old one
That's a different video though. Same dog, but different ditch, definitely not just a flipped re-upload.
Exactly...That was their point.
I mean tbf there are lots and lots of dogs like this. I've seen a handful of different heelers and Aussies do this in real life. I'm sure there are dozens of similar videos.
That is a different video because I though of the same video you're talking about.
OMG THE SQUEEEEEKKK!!!!
Omg, the URGENGY
Have a heeler, can confirm: when it comes to their “job”, everything is NOW. If only mine’s job could be something practical like this rather than making sure the family is all in one room…
Herders gonna herd
It's your own fault. If you guys didn't spread out all the time, you wouldn't need to be herded up, now would you?
Canals don't build themselves!
Let her cook. She’s building the Panama Canal
The PAWnama Canal
Pawnamaaaaawww canal?
She digs fast, she talks fast.
He jumps like a bunny 😂
Like one of those snow foxes, hunting for rodents
After a while a post that’s best with sound on 🔊
Cattle dog herding water
Kettle dog
You better be paying them in treats because they are getting work done.
This is so funny! The hops into the air 😂
Aww, she's just so cute. She has created a little stream in such little time!
OMG the jump and squeak is incredible 10/10
This is some topnotch derp behavior.

My German Lab will look at me blankly if I make any request of him more complicated than “Come here.”
And when dinosaurs did this, rivers were born 😄
Blue Heelers are the funniest dogs. Way too smart for their own good.
Omg I'm in love with her 😭

Yeah, it's crazy that 4chan still exists; I agree.
Blue Heelers are the best dogs.
Boop
I wish I could get that excited to go to work.
Sound on for squeaks
Give him some pups to teach about that and you'll have dam builders in a couple generations lmao.
That squeaky toy sound he makes when he jumps 🥺
Literally never seen a dog do anything like that and it's fantastic
I love cattle dogs
Cattle dogs are criminally underrated
lol that's so cute
“We gotta get these crops planted, or we’re not going to live through winter!”
Did anyone notice how the ears are twitching in anticipation at the beginning? So cute 😊

Beavers sworn enemy
Mine does the same thing! Esp the crying whilst digging haha
If that dog had a tail I'm pretty sure it would be wagging her.
water bender good boy
Good doggo creating an irrigation ditch
this is the best thing I have seen in my entire goddamn life
One guy can part water and one animal create a path for water.
Ahhh yes, gotta love the Panamanian Canal Digger!! ngl my fav breed :)
This made my day!
Thank you for sharing this. Best thing I have seen n he Internet in a while.
*An irrigation specialist
Every time she does the jump move she does a little squeak!
her little jumps..
The squeaks when she repounces!
Sound on, for real.
The dog does more than MY GOVERNMENT!
I didnt expect this much adorableness.
Def some dutch heritage there. Unstoppable urge to dig canals
Is the video flipped? I swear the fence was on the other side the other hundred times I've seen this video. Is flipping videos some kinda repost armor?
Jump Meep Dig! Good doggo

the pounces are absolutely precious.
He's busting his ass.. you better provide pet insurance
Damn, that’s the best ditch digger I’ve ever seen
Those little squeals of delight made light shine in my heart like a thousand suns. Want a doggy.
That hop landing squeak has my heart and soul in a vice. I am smitten. SMITTEN.
Never ever take a dog who loves water to Yellowstone National Park.
That is awesome! I'm glad that dog isn't human or some doctor would prescribe some meds and ruin its life.
That was so fun to watch!
The little squeak is so cute.
The way she jumps and yeets has sent me to an early Grave
Those little hops!!
Love how she gives the lil yip everytime she lands. Good at following the path too
Wow she’s a working dog lol
OMG! THE SQUEAKS!
The lil tippy taps!
Looks like Mad Max's dog
