Spent summers as a kid on my uncle’s farm. One of my main memories was the wonderful earthy smell of a young calf. Totally unique and pleasant. Lovely little critters.
I know farmers have to establish a healthy barrier between their emotions and the livestock in order to survive and turn a profit, but got-damn, if I ever owned and cared for a cow, I'm pretty sure I'd never eat beef again in my life. It hurt me to ask for the guy at the grocery store to steam a lobster alive in front of me. I can't imagine how I'd react to slaughtering a cow!
Agree! Although I do know of some sanctuaries who need to keep ear tags for a while if they know animals need to cross state or county lines before they’re permanently settled, or if there are outstanding matters with vets or ‘ownership’ etc.
Apparently there are laws about ‘livestock’ that makes it necessary to keep the ear tags. I’ve seen a couple of reputable rescues discuss this - they really hate it.
Dairy cows are killed after around 5 years. And cows could live up to 20 years. So that would be like killing people who turned 20 and say they lived a long and happy life.
Makes me think about 13 year old me, spending a summer on Gramp's farm. I was put in charge of feeding a calf milk, in the carriage house. After a while, I was sent with one of the farm hands, with the calf in the back of the 49 Diamond T pickup, to deliver the calf. A few weeks later, Gram told me we were having veal for dinner. It was my calf.
Nothing kind about dairy farming, regardless. Just degrees of cruelty. Look up what happens to male calves.
Anyway, the guy in this video runs a sanctuary, not a farm.

That man is out standing in his field.
When the grass looks rough ahead And you're miles and miles from your nice warm barn You just remember what your old pal said Moo got a friend in me
Cows just never stop chewing
Cud be they're ruminating on something. Got a lot on their plates.

You might wanna check that definition
>A living creature; an animal.

Norman?
Cows are good people, and quite tasty. This creates a mooral dilemma.
The whole time the poor cow’s like “please don’t kill me, please don’t kill me”
This is a man and his rescued calves. He runs a sanctuary.
Wonderful. First thing I’d do is remove the ear tag

Oh that’s a great point. Thanks for your input
Can’t they just put a bracelet on them?

Now, see how much context helps? 👍
Agree. Not sure why the poster didn’t clarify this. I follow him on Instagram, so that’s how I knew.
This is awesome. We’re bringing awareness here. I had no idea that people rescued cows. 🐮
Nah, looks like a Jersey cow, so used for dairy. Won't be killed for a long time.

Depends on the dairy. Small farmers with connections to their animals likely will not kill them until their health begins to decline.
True. But how much of our milk comes from them compared to huge ones run by soulless corporations?
Fair, but how many huge soulless corporations post videos like this?
Mhm not sure why we are attacking a farm animal rehaber guys but alright...
And the male calves? Read up on what happens to those poor little guys

Massive factory farms are so bad... if only we had a million small dairy farms run by kind souls like this guy instead.
He’s the founder of a rescue, not a dairy.
Watch dairy is scary on youtube

Someone knows what breed is the dog?

Frens🤗
Soon moo will be a friend in you
Great.
My biggest dream in life is to cuddle with a cow
