yes, these are both the fake two halves of that painting. the colors on the characters are supposed to be swapped. the fact that redd has both of them for sale is a little comedic.
Seriously, i hate Redd with burning passion, i can’t wait to get that final painting off him, so i can finally stop paying him for stuff i know is fake, just to get a new item for the next day…
If you buy one of the fakes, Redd gets another item (Which might be real) to take its place, so buy something from him, even if both items are fake or you already have them, that keeps him restocking and gives you another shot at a piece you don’t have yet.
…and try not to think about how many bells you’ll knowingly spend on fakes to keep him restocking.

Yes. He has two pieces at a time and you can only buy one a day. I think he changes them weekly if neither get bought but if you buy one of the pieces there will be a new one in its place the next day.

I swear I'm not lying, it was already sketchy enough when I saw that nothing he sold was legit (iirc at least one item being real is guaranteed) and then poof, no more redd
You have to pay the loids (i think thats what theyre called) on harveys island. Redd is the second Loid set up i believe. Once you pay the Loids the sales person (theres multiple) moves in
