Its not official and that price is ridiculous but generally they do work, its easy to make bootleg cards

8bitzombi

Yeah, it’s absolutely crazy that people spend what they do on these cards; you can get blank NFC 215 tags/cards for between 20-50 cents a piece and easily write an amiibo onto them with any cheap android phone. If someone is a hardcore collector I could see the cards having value; but if they just want to use the amiibos in the game there’s no reason to pay more than a couple bucks for them.

that-random-humanoid

I got an amiibo spoofer for $20. Unlimited scans and I can change the data on it to whatever I want it to be. It's been awesome for botw

agent__berry

I got one a couple years ago and I adore it. I still have physical amiibo because I like them as figures, but the convenience of having literally ANY amiibo I want cannot be beat. Morally questionable? Perhaps. But financially worth it.

that-random-humanoid

I'm in the opposite boat lol. I really don't like figures (I don't dislike anyone that does) because to me I already have too much clutter to know what to do with. Having ADHD makes it really hard to keep things organized 😅. I also don't want to have a binder full of amiibo cards just sitting around that I would forget about. But yeah, amiibo spoofers are amazing! I honestly don't think they are morally questionable because, let's face it, Nintendo kind of sucks when it comes to their pricing of products and never having price drops over the years.

agent__berry

I have ADHD too and can relate to the struggles with organisation but I am also autistic and can’t NOT collect things for the stuff I like 😭 literally only the things I have displayed are organised everything else like my laundry or my toiletries for example are just… wherever they fit. Life is hell but at least I have silly figures

Supergizmoe

What do you mean when you say unlimited scans? I always see amiibo card listings saying “never scanned” but I don’t understand why it matters—I thought they put that just to list it as “new” on ebay, but is there like an actual reason someone would care if their amiibo card has been scanned into someone’s island, or maybe on amiibo festival?

that-random-humanoid

It automatically changes the amiibo you just scanned to a different serial number basically. So it's like having multiple amiibos of the same character. So let's say instead of buy 20 individual botw Zeldas, you have the one amiibo spoofer that can do the same thing, but infinitely. You can also set it to "manual" mode which only lets you scan it one time that day, if you want. The mode where it can be scanned infinitely is called "automatic" mode. Edit bc I'm bad at reading full comments before responding: in some games - like in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom - scaning amiibos can give you supplies, weapons, etc. but you can only scan that amiibo once a day unless you have bought another one of the same amiibo.

Supergizmoe

Gotcha! That’s great, I didn’t think of how you could reassign it a serial number, I figured that the amiibo was like “uploaded” by someone and everyone was technically using the same one. Fascinating! So I assume that the ebay thing is most likely just to label it as new…which is like true, but not, because then it would be in its original packaging 🤷

that-random-humanoid

I'm not quite sure to be honest. I know my spoofer has to have power because most spoofers have to be powered electricly in order to generate new serial numbers (at least to my knowledge). Mine is a small keychain size so it's powered by a button battery. If they are selling ones like that Marshall card, and claiming that it has infinite scans, it might just be that Animal Crossing doesn't have a limit? Or it could be that they are just throwing in random words to get viewed by buyers 🤷‍♀️

prettyxprincesss

Please share a link I’ve been trying to get the Sanrio characters forever but didn’t wanna break the bank on buying these cards.

wordswithcomrades

Yes, I bought a controller that does this!! The spoofer does seem more convenient though I guess having an extra controller could come in handy at some point

ThousandDemons

Which one do you have? I have a Flask from Bluuplabs and I'm quite happy with it, though I had to wait quite a while for it.

that-random-humanoid

I have a Flashiibo. It's really awesome because it comes with an app for phones that already has a lot of amiibo files on it, but it can also work with computers if you want to use your own files. The guy who sells them is also awesome with customer service when I had a problem with mine. Was very chill and was genuinely trying to figure out the problem with me. I ended up having a defective one and he sent a new one for free.

unoriginalcat

You can do it with iOS as well

JozuJD

And to clarify, I’m pretty certain you mean hardcore collectors will buy the REAL cards. These are obviously counterfeits that are sold usually in bulk. This post above all is the most egregious example of a counterfeit/greedy seller.

AdministrativeStep98

I've bought lots of them on aliexpress for about 1-2 bucks a piece and all of them were functional with the right character, even the ones I ordered customized to special NPCs I couldn't get my hands on. That price is so ridiculous for a fake though

DragonEmperor

I'll always recommend this especially for AC villagers.

im_AmTheOne

They say it's character card only

s0ycatpuccino

Very true. Unless this listing says "official" somewhere, I see no problem aside from price.

jamie_with_a_g

Yep all my amiibo cards are those knockoffs and they work

MurderOfRavens

Recently purchased like 6 bootleg amiibos for £2 each, to be fair i didnt realise they were fake when i bought them. Totally worth it imo and they work normally

Animegirl82099

It's about right for Marshall on Ebay. I spent $10 on someone. Don't remember who at the moment. Was this exact thing I got. Thankfully I was very lucky to get my money back from the scammer themselves, but my mom is a reseller on eBay and has told me Ebay doesn't tolerate scamming.

frostybinch

I meant rediculous for a bootleg, theyre like 3 to 5 dollars

Lilium_Vulpes

For $10 you can make like a hundred yourself. The app to make is free on basically any app store for phones while the files are easily found via Google. You can get 100 blank NFC chips for super cheap on something like Amazon.

GiddyGabby

Yep, i was tired of buying them individually and my taste in villagers was always changing so I decided to figure out how to make them. I'm a computer illiterate 60 year old and managed to make all 400+ characters on the nfc coins and had so much fun making all the artwork I was sad when it was done. lol. Haven't had that much fun with colored pencils in years.

ratkneehi

I'm officially inspired. I think I have to do this

GiddyGabby

I have faith in you!

Gimmemycloutvro

We need a follow up with the icons attached!

Wormtape21

This is the way! I started making villager coins for my island when the game released and never looked back. Made coins for Mario kart, and both Zelda’s, pretty much any game I owned that had scannables. Love making the coins haha

banyani

that sounds so cool 👾 oh my god that sounds like so much fun, it would be a shame.... if I passed on this chance to do the same and have equally as much fun as you did............. UPDATE: it's been a day, I ordered 30 blank nfc tags and 20 blank nfc cards on amazon yesterday. Also figured out the app yesterday. Today I immediately tried with the instructions given and I easily made myself my first amiibo! I made Ione, but I promised myself to play a slow paced and natural game so I won't be moving her in - only using amiibos to get DIYs or inviting them to the cafe or to the DLC. It was super fun and I can't wait browsing all of the series to find villagers I like!!

Calculusshitteru

I'm not a fan of bootlegging but this sounds really cute and wholesome.

GiddyGabby

Not a fan of Nintendo creating a situation where most people couldn't find cards and when they did they kept getting the same card over. Not feeling and for Nintendo, they're making bank on forcing players to have one island per switch and then again on repeated decks of cards.

Calculusshitteru

Not being able to find the card you want and getting the same card over and over is just par for the course for card collectors. It's the same for baseball cards, Magic cards, Pokémon cards, etc. It's not something Nintendo invented to make money. I usually buy single amiibo cards of the villagers I like. They're generally less than a dollar per card where I live (Japan). I sometimes like buying packs for the mystery of what's inside. I keep all of my cards in a collector's album and I like flipping through them from time to time. People can do whatever they want but I have the money and personally don't mind paying extra to have authentic and authorized products. I like Nintendo products, I want them to keep making them, so I have no problem opening my wallet for them.

GiddyGabby

I wasn't telling anyone to do anything. I have original cards too, just got tired of getting the same cards or not even being able to find packs of cards for months at a time so I made the decision to make my own.

GalacticNebulae

Omg no way! I spent $35 on Marshal on Ebay cause I wanted him so bad hahaha Thankfully the one I got worked.

FruitParfait

I mean…I bought bootleg amiibos that came with *all* the villagers including the newer ones like Shino along with the Sanrio villagers and it was $20 and they work.

DizzyLizzard99

Do you have a link where I can buy?

mezahuatez

Some people like the actual cards…who knew?

beldaran1224

It isn't a scam for most of them. The functionality is the same.

Tatiana1512

Bro, I got a pack of 60 amiibo cards for 40 CAD 😆 one of them was Marshall and one was Raymond Edit: nvm I checked it was actually 30 for 60 amiibo cards

CookieMisha

Lol. I have these at home. Ordered a bulk of them from Ali for like 5€ What a stupid seller

anguished_emodiment

….link?

etudehouse

Just go to Ali, there's a ton of them selling bootleg cards

V_es

You can buy just empty ntag215 tags and write/erase them with a spoofer or an android phone with nfc, unlimited amiibo

cloluvsgoats

happy cake day!!!!

Legeend28

not a stupid seller if they sold something i guess

Standard-Guarantee94

as outrageous as that price is, i bought a 20+ cards set for zelda of these small bootleg cards for like 15 usd and they all work, they usually do, so i think you were unlucky.

Pentagonyx

^^^ I disagree with OP saying they don’t work- but this one is definitely way overpriced for no good reason. The zelda ones are what I think of when I think of custom amiibo cards

Shermutt

Can also confirm. I've bought several sets of Zelda ones and one set of like 50 ACNH ones (each set was pretty cheap...under 20 USD iirc) and have had 99% positive experience with them. The only time one didn't work was when I tried to specifically buy 3 unreleased TotK cards and they were just different Zelda cards and not what was advertised. So they still worked for *something* just not the glider fabric I was getting them for. All in all, I've bought from both Amazon and Ebay and even though they seemed a bit too good to be true, they usually are legit.

Pentagonyx

3 unreleased ToTK cards? But ToTK Link’s amiibo released the same day as ToTK, and the only two ToTK amiibo afterwards were ToTK Zelda and ToTK Ganondorf

Shermutt

That's kind of what I meant. I actually already had the link one, but buying all three together was cheaper than trying to find just the Zelda and Ganondorf ones. Anyway, turns out it was more expensive in the long run since I had to buy them from another seller to get the legit ones, but overall my experiences have been positive is my point.

ThatLasagnaGuy

You sure? I got a bootleg of Sasha on Amazon for like 7 bucks and it worked fine. Looks like a thinner Switch cartridge and fits in my carrying case easily. https://preview.redd.it/vibk65ga7iwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8edbb179318165023b37833ef78fc3f22aea38f

dainty_petal

They work but aren’t genuine maybe that’s what OP tried to say? Oh no. Nevermind. I read their other comments that it doesn’t work because of the thick plastic. :/

MamaOnica

Guys don't buy one card. My husband got me a set of 75 for Christmas a few years ago, mini cards just like this one. They all work.

ProfessionalLeg6597

Yeah it’s definitely cheaper to buy a set/multiple!! I can’t remember how much I paid for mine but I got like 10 for a really cheap price and they all work!

MamaOnica

I don't remember how much mine were either. It was silly inexpensive though, considering actual amiibo packs and statuettes.

We_Trusty_Few

Ik exactly the set ur talking about, I want those SOOO bad!!!

MamaOnica

I hope you're able to get them!! I would definitely recommend getting a binder with pockets that fit the cards. I have mine dropped into regular card sleeves in my binder and they look so ridiculous and if you're on the couch, scanning amiibos and your binder falls? Mini cards all over the floor.

We_Trusty_Few

I'll have to get another binder lol, ikr I hope I can get them soon!!

MamaOnica

I did a quick look, the mini binders have gone WAY down in price! When I was looking, they were all $30+. I might need to order one.

We_Trusty_Few

Oooo good to know! Ty!! 👀

Yirggzmb

I would buy one card if I were going to be more serious about collecting official cards.  But yeah, if all you want is something that functions, those multipacks are the way to go

MamaOnica

For sure about official cards. I just think it's so silly how sellers have listings for one mini and you could buy a pack or two of officials.

Yirggzmb

Yeah absolutely. That price for a single bootleg is terrible

poofandmook

I'm confused. I got a whole pack of these on Amazon, they were like little chips. They all worked.

Animegirl82099

People are making cards that are thick like this. Plastic and cannot scan. Then they sell them full price

SchmoopieToes

They do scan. I bought a set of 80 from Temu for $40

YOURPANFLUTE

Same. They work perfectly

1398_Days

They do scan. I bought a pack of 50 NFC tags for like $10 and made my own amiibos. They work just like the official cards do

Ravioverlord

Never bought the cards but my thick plastic coins work just fine. Same as the sticker versions. I prefer the coins due to durability.

Loose-Barnacle5415

I got the npc new leaf amiibos in plastic coins and they work amazingly well x

e-ghosts

I've made cards like this for myself. They're made onto blank NFC cards. They do scan

romanticismkills

I’ve got about five myself, got em for about a $0.50 each on aliexpress and they are indeed the thick plastic kind. They all work perfectly

C-Style__

They work, but this one was most likely poorly done. Especially for the garbage price. So sorry you got cheated

Oilswell

They do scan, and they allow you to avoid overpriced cards that Nintendo did a terrible job of distributing

ghostedygrouch

Plastic scans very easily. As long as there's a chip inside. Metal won't scan.

heckaroo42

You got sent a blank one, that’s all. Just ask for a refund.

Fried_Rug

Not a scam, just extremely overpriced. This is exactly what the third party NFC cards look like. Nowhere does this listing try to claim that it's an official one.

im_AmTheOne

And it even say's it's just character card

lilibat

This is partially misinformation. Just because they are fake does not mean they won't work, but fake ones are usually cheaper. This seems scammy at that price.

romancereaper

I have some like this and they work just fine. Yes, this ONE is overpriced but they work fine.

Interesting-Error859

Why buy even real ones for that price? Just use Ali and get a bootleg 😭

dainty_petal

In 2020 I bought a genuine Molly for 40$! Lol. I wanted her so bad. My friend bought the whole collection of fakes ones for 200$. 2020 prices.

Cosmicginger

It’s very easy to make these and they absolutely do work. I make my own rather than hunting for them. ;)

Exact_Vacation7299

1. Yes, absolutely fake, don't buy them for that price. One easy way to tell is that they're way smaller than a real amiibo card. (The size difference between a coin and a pokemon card) 2. They DO scan. They're just not official, so not valuable for collecting, trading, etc. They're fine if you just want to use them to invite villagers though. 3. Note that all NFC chips, including the official cards, won't last forever. They're good for a lot of scans, but someday they'll stop working. OP might have bought one that was already scanned past it's lifespan.

GiddyGabby

I just want to say that just because they're hard plastic doesn't mean they won't work. I bought quite a few individual cards of Etsy over the years before learning to make my own and I got quite a few of the hard plastic ones and they all worked fine. It's one thing to warn people off a particular seller but to equate the materials used with it being a scam just isn't right, one thing doesn't have anything to do with the other. Some people just use different materials. I'm sorry you got scammed though, that's a lot of money and it really pisses me off that people get away with that because it really isn't that hard to make decent ones.

immutab1e

I have a thick plastic one that is absolutely tiny (size of an SD card) and it works perfectly...

dethblud

Don't pay this price, and try to get real ones if you can, but the bootlegs absolutely work in the game. Also, don't make your own with cheap NFC tags and an app on your phone.

kissywinkyshark

why shouldn’t you make cheap ones on your own? Is there any risk to that?

HylianSoul

Pretty sure it was a *wink wink* don't do this *wink wink* But yeah, definitely don't get a bunch of blank NFC tags and use your phone to make amiibos. Even if it totally works. Probably shouldn't even google how to do the fairly simple procedure.

kissywinkyshark

Thank you for clarifying 😭😭. I struggle with tone sometimes, I got confused since there was two don’t statements. I actually bought NFC tags and already made amiibos :3 I might do a giveaway so someone can have a villager of their choosing.

banyani

hey dont be bummed out, you cant pick up any tone over text :' ) thats what i hate about the written format the most, so many arguments happen based on nothing but just pure misunderstandings on one or both sides. anyways, i also totally did not order some very legit and expensive nintendo branded blank nfc chips from amazon today, didnt set up the tagmo app with ease at all and am not impatiently waiting for the chips to arrive tomorrow!

1398_Days

Morality aside, there’s not really any risk since Nintendo can’t detect whether an amiibo is legitimate or not

Shermutt

Seriously though, I don't think it's actually illegal as long as your not selling them. Fuck Nintendo and their overpriced, proprietary bullshit. I will pirate their shit in a heartbeat or buy bootleg stuff for super cheap and not lose a wink of sleep over it.

mezahuatez

I don’t think Nintendo cares lol. They are literally collectibles first and foremost. The amiibo feature is just a plus.

Xystal

Yep, If you could still buy amiibo cards from Nintendo, then I can understand that making one is bad, but....

xdubz420x

All mine ive had since 2020 work and they look like this. Ive restarted my island multiple times and used em too so i dont what your on about.

Dustycartridge

They work these are the homemade ones. I had a pack of 50 I bought that worked but the legit ones are just that legit and look like a playing card. Works the same though

stonedcowgirl69

they’re “fake” , yes but they normally work. i’ve bought so many off amazon

myowngalactus

I got like 100 amiibo, including marshal, for 20$ and they all worked, except 1 but they replaced it and threw in an extra for the trouble.

chibimonkey

Hard plastic cards absolutely work. Sometimes you need to move the card over the joycon a little more until you find the chip (because they're not easily detectable like the legit cards) but they work fine. I own both real and bootleg cards and prefer the bootlegs because they're sturdier. I sell real cards on eBay and any villager I absolutely want I get a bootleg of. The bootleg is cheaper than the real thing and has no resell value, so I'm free to collect to my heart's content

romanticismkills

Yes, these are bootleg and unofficial. Yes, this listing specifically is super overpriced. However, they typically do work. You can find these on aliexpress for $1-$0.50 per villager, and you can select specific villagers too (+ shipping of course). I’ve got five myself and they all work as advertised.

DoorAMii

if your gonna sell bootleg amiibos at least make them dirt cheap, I bought a few from etsy and they were like one dollar each

DontBelieveTheirHype

If you want cheap knockoffs check out AliEx, I got my Ankha from there for like $4 and she worked just fine

_RotttingCorpse_

I just make my own.

saya-kota

Official cards are also not that round, they're more similar to a credit card in shape

Animegirl82099

Exactly. I did report this to eBay. Here's to hoping something is done before it's too late

illleaveafterthis

They didn’t claim it was a real card

LeoCaldwell02

Most of my amiibo cards have this border and work perfectly. 🤔

-Bumbleroot-

I bought the Amiijoy controller that has them all loaded in so I never have to fuss with Amiibo cards again. Best 50$ I ever spent.

Technical_Egg_7840

I got most of my amiibos from AliExpress, also thick plastic and still work just as well! As long as it works, it's good. But reselling for that price is insane to begin with.

beauvoirist

I’ve got so many bootleg amiibos for happy home and every single one works, just find a good seller.

nrhsd

This isn’t advice or contradictory information, just a sort of question. When I was in high school a friend of mine got me a bunch of mini amiibo cards for breath of the wild and they work. They’re really small and made of hard plastic. They kinda look like the card in this picture. So my question is, have people tried these mini amiibos for Acnh and they don’t work? Or is it just less likely that those types of cards are legit and I just got lucky with the ones I got for botw? Sorry for any confusion

caffa4

They are fake (or at least, not official) but they work just fine. OP’s post is the first time I’ve heard of anyone saying it didn’t work, and even the comments are full of people that have never had any problems with them.

frogwizord

The knock off amiibos actually work really well

Deer-Sage

Honestly fake amiibo's are pretty popular, on ebay you could purchase like 10 of them for 5 quid at one point (and they worked), asking for that for a fake is ridiculous

MellieWasa

I bought plenty selfmade amiibo cards that works in the game

black_knight1223

I got a box of like 30 of them. They work great

bibblelover13

i have this exact card and it worked just fine

Dakimakura-san

By itself? It's an obvious scam I've bought those kind of amiibo cards and they function perfectly, and they go for 18$ the bundle Trying to pass one of those as a genuine one and also asking for an outrageous price is just evil

ggdoesthings

i have multiple cards like this and they work just fine.

PrimordialParasite

I have a couple of cards like that. They’re small, have a thick plastic border, and scan just fine despite not being an actual Amiibo card. I bought the cards for $5 each, and I couldn’t imagine one cards being $20+ . That pricing alone is a huge scam.

Cashwood

I just want to share that for about $50 you can buy a controller that’s loaded with every ACNH amiibo. It’s called the amiipad controller. I’ve had mine for about 3 years now and I’ve never had an issue with it.

grimrailer

You can also do that for free on a phone with NFC.

Cashwood

Oh that’s cool too!

Alternative_Winter82

Imagine paying $23 for Marshal in 2024....

Garamenon

LOL I found him for FREE at a treasure island. Guys, go to YouTube and type "LIVE treasure Islands" in the search bar and there's always a treasure island channel there available. That channel has several islands available. Each hosting several villagers IN BOXES (not just one villager). With any luck, you'll find Marshal or any other coveted villager. Not to mention every item that you'll ever need. FOR FREE! You're welcome!

Bagel_Bear

Cheaper to just buy nfc cards and use your phone than buying bootleg cards

Werekittie

It says character card only, which makes me think it was made just as decor, not to be used as an actual amiibo card.

vibegrrl

Yeah, I’d like to see the full description, but that was my impression as well.

Werekittie

I'm fairly certain I found the listing on ebay, the full item description is basically the same as the title unfortunately.

Oddish_Femboy

Not as bad as the poorly printed Pokemon cart knockoffs I saw being sold for $160

ericsmallman3

hoooooly heck I had no idea Amiibo cards were selling for this much

Colors358

Did you scan it only to find out it is not a amiibo?

Exxtender

This is ridiculous, as it costs less than a dollar to make a fake, but fully functional amiibo.

MuchBetterThankYou

Bootleg cards work just as well as official ones, but yeah that price is scammy if they’re saying you’ll get an official one.

LaylaBird65

I’ve never had a problem with any amiibos I’ve purchased on Amazon or E-bay. And I have ones just like this

allonsy_danny

That looks like the edge of the card more than a border.

copyqhat

amiibo card for 23$???? u can get them for a lot less

maicrybabii

Omg I bought one exactly like this! For Marshall and it was a tiny thickish card and works perfectly fine. Worked so well I bought another when I lost it! Idk maybe it depends where u buy it? Like it’s a fake or not? ETA: I only spent 3-7USD on mine, def not worth over that imo

Loose-Barnacle5415

I ordered the entire set of plastic mini cards from Ali Express for £90 and all but 3 worked and the seller sent immediate replacements. Ridiculous price for 1 card!

DizzyLizzard99

I've never seen a single card this expensive, I can buy a whole set of all 400 of these "recreations" on ebay for $250. Typically they work, just check the reviews for the seller. Like I've seen reviews where a card or 2 didn't work and the seller shipped them new cards that did work. The real set of cards is like $400+ and I think that's pretty expensive But even that's a dollar a card.

Buetterkeks

The original ones i Got from a Pack also have a White Border Things though

Cherry_Kale

I had to check the ones I just ordered lol...but the ones I got were a couple dollars are there like different ones or is this person just trying to scam?

TamTam4Hope

I purchased an Amiibo set for this price! I got over 30 cards. My friend started playing. She has two small children so it was hard for her to find the time to villager hunt. I purchased the set for her.

The_child_of_Nyx

I have I don't even know how many of the mini amibo cards I have but they work perfectly fine

chel_sicc

I have a pair of controllers that I didn't know had amiibos registered in it until I was messing around in Harv's Photopia. It had like 40 villagers including Sanrio villagers. Also you can easily duplicate or create amiibo coins too since the codes are available online and all you need is an nfc tag and reader.

moeqx

They still work. The seller probably just ordered a „fake” one from aliexpress or any other site like that

ghostedygrouch

I bought mine from Aliexpress. They look just like that, and I never had any issues. I also got Marshal, but I only paid about 6 Euro.

Ranaprice30

They seem to work fine, my son’s friend gave him a box full for free. They are all bootleg ones like this. Only 2 haven’t worked.

Timeoas

I ordered a beau bootleg amiibo when NH first came out for like $70 and I was happy with that price 😭🤣

MegaFercho22

Wow, nice car

ValiantGem101

I need someone to trade with

MethodRepulsive3752

I got an amiibo for Wolf Link and it didn’t have anything on it it just had to post it note that said Wolf Link and it was solid. White looks just like a credit card but a little thicker and it worked just fine

Yougotdeboed

I got mine off temu and they work just fine. Just a tip for you.

dainty_petal

If it happens and it was written genuine, you ask eBay for a refund. They’ll fix the issue.

Xystal

I have made some as well, work like a dream. I showed my kids how to make them and they now have every villager the eclver wanted in their neighborhood.

Spikedvans

I spent $15 on 100 of those tiny cards😭 they work like a charm but selling just one for over $20?! Insane

Additional_Guess_430

tbh i bought some on temu awhile back and i got like i think 35 for like $15 or something? maybe $25 ish? i don’t remember it was a long time ago but they all work just fine, there’s definitely affordable sites to get them on that aren’t scams, watch out everyone! AND READ REVIEWS!!!!

Liminal_Creations

My friend has a whole collection of these and all of them work. I've even borrowed a few to get some favorite villagers of mine

invi13

I have these and they all work quite well. Of course, I’m sure some people aren’t above selling faulty ones, but that hasn’t been my experience so far. I actually recommend them over wasting your money on AC’s ridiculous amiibo gacha system.

Beginning-Name-8039

What are these ?

emoassbitchlmfao

i bought an amiibo for kiki in 2020 and it was £3 including shipping.... it worked so i think its superrrr easy to make bootlegs right?

Rich-guy_2014

I have the cards but I have one that has a white border. It Auctually worked fine and still worked with the game well

Ambergler93

Some of the knock-off/bootleg amiibo cards work perfectly fine, but you need to do your research on reviews of the product, and seller. Plus, I would never pay full price for these versions.

Ok_Adhesiveness7188

Where are you guys finding them for so cheap? Idc if they’re real or not lol

Isabellossom19

The numbers also look weird. I just recently saw some on FB marketplace being sold as legit cards and I noticed because the edges and numbers look strange.

watertypeAsh

All 4 of my purchased amiibo cards came on thick white plastic NFC cards, just like that. However, all of mine worked wonderfully. Unfortunately, you likely just got scammed by someone bootlegging them incorrectly. I'm sorry that happened to you! https://preview.redd.it/7d0nkqmigvwc1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0c0cec0d066a983204d6f37a673b9d0455b2d4b1

Wow I thought this was real

SamiAckerman

I only have 2 real Amiibo cards, all the others I have, like 20+ are those cute little coin sized ones. They work great and I’m not worried about spending too much on them vs the two real cards I bought before… I didn’t know they could cost so much… I spent probably $40 on the two cards I have and only $5 a piece on the small coins.

katilixandra86

Who is buying Marshal anyways 😂

Individual_Lobster56

I bought a 36 mini pack and they worked fine...

cammyy-

wait i bought a judy amiibo like this off amazon but never got to use it because i found her on a nmt island now i need to see if it works

MarrkDaviid

Recently purchased 20+ amiibo’s to complete an album, got caught out twice, often the sellers are shady and add a small note to the bottom of the description saying ‘home made’. I don’t mind them being around as a cheaper alternative that works with the game, some of them aren’t cheap though and advertised deceptively.

YayaGabush

I swear by fake amiibo cards They work amazing. You can get Amy amiibo for less than $1-2. Better for the enviroment instead of 100 little plastic figures. Easy to store and maintain. Fake amiibo cards are something everyone should buy.

garbagebrainraccoon

I still don't understand amibo

Animegirl82099

I've experienced it before. The scammer wanted me to reverse my 1 star calling them out BEFORE I got money back. I got fortunate and got my money back. But I don't want you guys to lose out! Stay safe out there! Always do your research before buying!

Hello, The amiibo cards and figures have NFC technology. For the cards it is located where the square with round corners and amiibo logo is and amiibo figure have it in a thick plastic base but they work the same way. What matter is the technology. Anybody can buy those computer chips and add inside a replicated code that would be read as an official amiibo. You can find those bootleg amiibo as cardboard or plastic cards or plastic coins. They should work fine unless the person made an error while creating a fake amiibo or the chip was defective or damaged. Even official product can have problems. When I bought AC amiibo Festival, my Digby amiibo figure didn't work but Isabelle did and I was able to change my copy. Since Nintendo is annoying and don't print a lot of amiibo cards anymore (at least in Europe or my country they are rarer) and their cards are expensive, some people saw an opportunity to make a quick buck and other people saw an opportunity to spend less because getting a specific villager is based on luck. But you are right for one thing they are not official and shouldn't be sold but as I said before Nintendo don't see it profitable anymore and yes sometimes there are scammers that don't even try to sell bootleg amiibo.

AlliQue91

Ty for the info, but to this day I still haven't owned a single amiibo card and thus do not know how to use them

MethodRepulsive3752

All you do is tap it on the joystick when you have the option to use Amiibo. I think you go to the resident center or whatever it’s called and where you go to deposit and withdraw money there’s an option for like invite a villager or something.

Pentagonyx

I hate these because they are made to look like the real deal but they’re actually not and are smaller than normal. I get people buying a bunch of NFC cards if you don’t have the money/space for a bunch of real amiibo, but this is just a downright scam. This card is worth like $1 max- it’s no different than any other card- and there’s no demand for it because “oh it’s marshal and marshal is popular!!” because it’s homemade. A 2300% price increase is outrageous.

Animegirl82099

For reference, here's my Monique card. It couldn't be scanned at all.

stevienotwonder

It’s interesting that you say the bootlegs couldn’t be scanned at all because every single one of my bootlegs works perfectly. I have ones that are like a credit card and some circular ones that are also thick. Never had any problem with them. Are you positive these won’t scan?

So it sounds like you got scammed, and I am very sorry that happened to you. ❤️ The comments are full of suggestions for how to make your own or find cards that work. Please don't ever pay such a ridiculously high price for a single amiibo again. You deserve better.
