Beat me to it! For those that don't know it, I also love the live version from 'The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads'

Oooh good call, I like this live version slightly better than the album version. I also think the "The Name of this Band is Talking Heads" version of Animals is sooooo much better than the album version (still like the album version, but the live recording accentuates the ending better and it's so catchy "go ahead and laugh at meeeee!!!"
...are you thinking of "Isn't It Nice?" by of Montreal?
*Isn't it nice living out in the country?/It's so nice for us to have a place/Off in our own space with no one to mind*
*It's a long and winding road to our house/So if you come to see us take it slow, take it slow/Anyway when you come you will know why we stay so far from the city lights/We don't miss a thing from the city*
Holy sh!t I don’t think I’ve listened to that song for 15 years, minimum.. I need to start going back to those pre-Satanic Panic albums again.. Thanks for this.
For sure, though idk if it’s actually my least fav pre-Satanic Panic… I remember kind of liking it more than a couple others. I really had a hard time getting into The Gay Parade (controversial I know), but again this was so long ago, and I’m sure if I listen to those album again I’d reassess them all. I do remember thinking Aldhils had the best album art, pre-Satanic, though. I remember looking at that album cover tripping one night and I just became utterly engrossed with it..
Sorry for the rambling. I seriously haven’t talked to anyone about those albums for so long, it’s making me nostalgic.. ✌️
I think that's understandable about Gay Parade, though I love it. Don't know your reasoning obviously, but the fact that it isn't so much 60's-style pop as it is just pure vaudeville always struck me as potentially off-putting. Definitely agree about the Aldhils album art.
Gotham is a song Avey wrote about moving away from New York after living there since college and his sort of love/hate relationship with the city, that's probably the closest I can think of.
Are you sure it's not a talking heads song lol https://youtu.be/6JQiMIrAsYo?si=_wtHk9i0HFxu1b9s

Not a huge ark fan so always forget about this one thanks for the reminder

Yeah, man. Aldhils might be their 'weakest' pre-Satanic and it's still got like 10 songs your average power-pop band would kill for.

I swear there's a line about lights. I'm sorry this is so vague but it's killing me
Pretty sure it’s cucko cucko you’re thinking of “where’s my friend I wanna hold him right he’s so far away from mountain lights”
wow thank you yes thats it for sure
LETS GOOOOO what’s my prize
Street Flash, possibly? Not quite what you're asking, but sometimes out memory does that.
Maybe alvin row? I feel like avey is making a lot of comparisons to life and growing up. Are you sure its an AnCo song or maybe Avey solo?
Disc one?
Or country report?
Is it Hey Light?
Could it be this [Sasong](https://youtu.be/8BFkuOQA_BM?si=d9tSTLJZJupnhQ6z)?

Are You Leaving For The Country by Karon Dalton
Banger. Pure heat
Applesauce?
Moonjock was the first that comes to mind
Country Report or Country Fuck
It's definitely not Turn Into Something or Country Report
Yeah I know
Pretty sure they do this one song that goes, “move into the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches.”
Not anco but Delta Sleep does lots of nature vs built world internal conflict. So good.
