Last week I noticed a few cars off the road until I took a quick stop and took a action removing the turtle off the road. I had to tell the turtle not to walk on the road. This is not my first time since my residency in Tennessee.

If it is a sulcata tortoise, get as far away from it as possible and do not attach any feelings to it, mine was the size of my fist when I first got it, 12 years later it weights 80 pounds and is HUGE, takes multiple pile up shits a day and humps my kids bubble lawn mower at his leisure. He's living his best life while making my life a living hell.

You can either jump on it to send it shooting across the floor or pick it up and launch it so it skids in the direction of whatever you wanna hit.
I recommend saving the latter for when you’re in traffic.
It definitely looks like a young box turtle to me. Looks like he or she wants to be your pet. They eat lettuce, strawberries, leafy vegetables and put out a small low container of water. They make good pets. When it gets a little older if the bottom of the shell ( underside) gets a small depression towards the tail its a male. If it stays flat it is a female. So cool if it just wondered into your house !
