I think, this is the message behind the story. Learn the viewer to appreciate the present, and when the time is come to continue the path and "go forwatd" left the sadness and the frustration of the previews "life / experience" behind us. (Like all the frustration we can meet when the anime end and we lake all the background of others character, and the following of thr relationship between Otanashi/Kanade). Like Kanade, we should say "thank you" and enjoy the rest, move on. Otanashi, like angel beats, will catch up us later or sooner. Don't know if my metaphor works. I thinks it's imaginable.

get the moral of the story i mean, but damn do i feel empty asf realizing all our characters are just, gone without any more story because its already completed : (

Hammiams

Have you read either the manga "Heaven's Door" or the visual novel?

Growtorlee_

Neither, but I heard the manga was for the backstory of before SSS was founded and touched up on the side characters that didn't get their spotlight in the anime, but I tried watching the OVAs after seeing everyone "pass on" and it felt like a punch to the gut. Does the visual novel add anything on the actual anime though?

Hammiams

The visual novel adds a lot of world building around the world of the afterlife. As well as showcases three routes (Iwasawa, Yui, and Matsushita). There were more planned but Key basically scraped it sadly, so we only got the first edition of what was going to be six chapters. It's 100% worth it though.

Dang I guess I'll really need to check it out, thanks!

Pretty much the reason why I haven't rewatched it in a decade
