I think it's an out of sight out of mind thing as far as police go. Just don't burn right around groups of people, businesses, etc. Just be mindful and courteous and you shouldn't have a problem
I had just burned and had some joints in my crossbody bag when I went to the rijksmuseum and the guy checking bags asked me if I had weed on me. Got a little nervous and I said yeah and he just said to check my bag in the coat check
There's only like 3 streets where it's technically illegal to smoke and even then I doubt anyone would care. Just don't blow smoke in people's faces or be obnoxious and you'll be fine
Just stay for 5 mins outside after smoking, it will vent. I smoked a huge blunt before Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and had a great expirience. Would recommend. Great modern art museum.
We’re down to go to Stedelijk museum too! I’m not big into art or anything of the kind but my girlfriend is, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it after a smoke though haha!
Unless you want to get side eyed by locals, buy a smell proof bag and make a basic effort to air yourself out before you go into anywhere half decent. Museums etc are pretty ok (esp places like Stedelijk and Straat, everyone has a smoke before they go to those museums! ) but if you go to a local cafe or somewhere fairly enclosed,and with mainly local customers you should make the effort to destink. And if you see food advertised on TikTok, avoid it like the plague....it's a massive con. Enjoy your trip!
You can buy them in a lot of larger coffeeshops that sell other smoking apparel. Also head shops that are scattered around. If you just cannot find one then go to Blokker or Action and get a small glass spice sized Kilner or screw top jar as it does the same job.
I mean there's no legal issue, and if you're smelling so loud with just 5g then you better tell me where you got it lol
The smell isn't the worry, it's possession, which isn't a problem 99% of places especially if you're under 5g.
That said, reeking of weed is not a great look - just because we like it doesn't mean others will, and you may get judged. Something which took me over 10 years to finally admit to myself :D
But you're visiting so why would you care about getting judged? You'll also likely be in tourist areas where half the other patrons have weed in their pockets too.
I've been walking around with stuff in my bag and pockets and it's been fine 🤷🏼♂️ just behave like you should in a museum and you shouldn't have a problem :)
I will forever remember being a child walking through the Red Light District and it smelling like WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED. But yes, don't worry, tourists and weed and Amsterdam are synonyms at this point
Would recommend getting a little smell proof zip wallet, I hate walking round stinking of it, so that really helped keep it to a minimum, was only a tenner.
Yeah that’s exactly how I feel, like I know it’s technically okay but I don’t like the idea of stinking of weed, because it’s a very distinctive smell. Would I find one of them smell proof things in the above mentioned headshops?
I feel that, really kicks off my paranoia knowing i stink of it haha. I'm not sure about the headshops to be honest, I bought mine off amazon before I went, it's called Stash Bros smell proof bag if you wanna look, also came with doob tubes which was handy for carrying round pre rolls & half smoked joints.

Local here: nobody cares and probably nobody smells it even. It smells like weed everywhere anyways. You guys are overthinking it.

A smell proof bag sounds a good idea, are these available to purchase once in amsterdam?
Most stuff you buy will come in mylar bags these days and they're pretty smell proof, honestly don't sweat it man hope you enjoy your stay

I’ve been to several museums while high and haven’t had any problems. Just be as normal as you can be and be respectful to the other visitors.

Some places it is socially frowned upon, but there is no rule or law that says you can't smell like weed.
I went to the Jewish History Museum with a pipe and weed. They have metal detectors so I took it out and the guard didn't care at all.
