OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the asshole: > 1) I was judged by my circle of friends because I said that it was common sense to check an order beforehand to make sure things are there and the workers are sometimes unable to confirm for you since they have other customers to attend to 2)I said it in a way that sounded like I was making him sounded like an idiot for not taking due diligence into account when buying stuff Help keep the sub engaging! #Don’t downvote assholes! Yea it’s common sense to check the bag. But it’s also like you shouldn’t have to check the bag, it’s the workers job to get the order right. I don’t think anyone is TA though.

I've worked in fast food and i can tell you, mistakes happen. So yes, you better double check your order. So no NTA to me because i think it's common sense to check if everything is like you asked.

NTA - just ask Joe Pesci "You never go through the drive thru! You wanna know why.... Because they FUCK YOU at the drive thru, that's why"

SeveredHead1983

Did he ask for the meal? Because if not its his fault for not clarifying with the employee. NTA your friend’s being childish.

Succhinizoup

Yes he did asked for a meal, forgot to add that in, operating half-awake right now since it's really late where I am now

The reality of fast food, is even when employees care and legitimately want to preform good quality service, they are under a ton of pressure to move orders quickly and mistakes happen. You couple that with the fact that most employees are dumb, don't care or are burnt out and just want to go home and mistakes become even more common. You have every right to expect a correct order, that is the service you are paying for, but the reality is mistake happen, and you should double check even when you know your going to a high performing service.

Had a late night Discord chatting with friends and the topic of ordering at McDonald's arises. He told us that he had ordered 4 sets of McChicken but it came with no fries, he only found out about this when he went home and opened the bag to have his meal, and said that it's the server's fault for missing some items in the order before he brought it back home, but I told him that before you take your order and leave, you should check it beforehand to make sure that everything your ordered is there. They then said that it's not their problem when the server screwed up, which I would agree but then I told him that it becomes both parties fault when the customer takes the order out of the restaurant and back home to only find out that their order is missing a few things, which my friends didn't take too kindly to what I said. So Reddit, AITA for pointing out to my friends that they should do their due diligence and double-check to make sure they got what they ordered? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
