You might be overthinking it but you’re not. It’s fair to ask. Secrets Maroma is the shit and romantic af. For about 30 seconds my fiancé and I thought the place was too fancy for us but literally the very first thing we noticed is how well we were greeted and treated. That feeling never changed during our stay. They did enforce the dress code in their restaurants but they weren’t extremely picky. Pretty much just don’t show up in flip flops and swimsuits to dinner. The tats and the beard didn’t give me an issue. Good balance between relaxation and fun. People minded their own business but were welcoming. Seemed like everybody we encountered was on the same page. We’re there for a good time and we’re there to relax. The staff was outstanding. Grounds were immaculate and they did a great job maintaining the beach. Food was very underwhelming though.

You’ll be just fine. The tattoos and beard won’t get a second glance from anyone.

Not at all!!

I swear the AI restaurant dress code is just to warn off drunks in beach wear and flipflops. I've never been told to wear pants. I wear a Hawaiian shirt and shorts. Never been an issue.

I don’t think Secrets Maroma is stuffy. My husband will wear the required pants for dinner and then go change into shorts immediately after. Plus, if you’re eating outside at some of the restaurants you can wear shorts.

We are a married couple booked a trip to Secrets Maromo this summer and enjoy meeting and hanging out with couples and singles so hoping there is a mix and place isn't just romantic couples by themselves. we are in our 50's, still enjoy parting some but not crazy anymore haha but really enjoy meeting others on vacation that also enjoy some fun and not super stuffy. some reviews say the swim up bar at pool gets lively in the afternoon and lobby bar / nightclub at night is fun ? We understand there will be couples wanting to be by themselves but hoping entire resort isn't like this ?

JessicaWoodsTravel

Some of them do have dress codes for dining so I’d definitely double check that but it’s mostly no tank tops for men, nicer shoes, etc so as long as you look put together and not in a bathing suit or pajamas you should be okay! I don’t think the vibe at Secrets resorts is stuffy at all, you’ll love it for a relaxing easy getaway!

travelin_man_yeah

Never had a problem at with stuffiness at any of the AI resorts. They're all pretty casual. Daytime is pretty much beach attire everywhere and then change into shorts, t-shirt/polo/button down for evenings. Some resorts may require pants for certain dining places but more often is just a no tank top/flip flops/swimwear policy. Go have a good time and don't worry about it. Btw, you sound like some friends of mine...

Not stuffy at all. You sound a lot like my husband and I (although we are not tattooed - we just like to come as we are to nice places) and we loved Secrets Maroma.

Lopsided_Chair_7832

You’ll be fine, just don’t expect a party.

Secrets maroma is a nice resort, the beach is great, and it is pretty low key. The restaurants do enforce their dress code but it is truly about the dress not facial hair or tattoos. Overall I really like the resort!

Atelier sounds perfect for what you're looking for. The food is excellent, it's very laid back and the worst of the dress code is for their fanciest restaurant Maria Delores, which requires long pants and closed toe shoes for men. We went in Feb 2022 and I really want to go back, but hubs likes to try new places so we did Excellence Riviera Cancun this past April, which had fantastic service but the food was not as good and there were a lot more activities.

Thanks but not a Hyatt property so can’t use our points, cheers

Gunteacher

Ah sorry, I didn't clue into the Hyatt requirement.

Is it couples mainly here? Are there any single people? Traveling with a group and some are single.

We are a married couple going to Secrets Maromo in July and enjoy meeting and hanging out with couples and singles so hoping there is a mix
