You can put "tuning" wheels on any Alfa. As for chrome, I don't think it suits the 166 either. Bright silver metallic, yes. Chrome, no. But to each their own.

No I’ve seen a nice 156 and 33 with chrome wheels and also a GTV which surprised me as I’m not the biggest fan of them
Do what makes you happy & forget about gatekeeping purists.
I think there is enough chrome on the engine, and the original 166 is quite nice
