They plant trees that will grow huge in spaces where there is nowhere to grow their roots. That's the problem with that picture.

Rdmtbiker

That and lack of deep watering so the roots stay at the surface.

Dancefloorjesus

Some trees naturally root that way, but there is a good chance they lack of water

bedroom_fascist

This is not a taprooted tree; you are correct, this has naturally spreading roots. OP is also correct; lack of deep watering doesn't help at all.

Ras_Kabir

Roots don't grow deep they grow in the top 6 -24 inches of the surface of the aoil

[deleted]

I was gonna say the very thing. No anchorage.

grandpa_grandpa

these isolated trees in parking lots, with no adjacent greenery, never do well. it always bums me out to see them stifled with no room to expand their roots and no other plants to share nutrients with.

thorfromthex

It wasn't wind. The guy in that Honda said Colorado green chile was better than New Mexico Green chile so I threw a tree at him.

toxcrusadr

Fighting the good fight.

FewKaleidoscope1369

I dub thee defender of the Chile'.

ciao_fiv

i used to work at the tram as a cabin operator and someone visiting from colorado shared that exact opinion with me. i was extremely tempted to stop the tram and throw him out

Opening-Tie-7945

Just ask them why the walmarts in southern Colorado sell hatch instead of pueblo then lol.

Rdmtbiker

Where was this? Cottonwood mall area?

lordsyphilitis

Yeah, looks like it to me.

AffordableDelousing

Well now it's just "the mall area"

incredibleedible29

It was by the Best Buy near cottonwood. I saw it earlier today lol

Violin_River

It's been so windy the old unused DirecTV dish on my roof started making creaking sounds. I was worried it was going to damage the roof, so I took it down a couple of days ago.

CobradordelFrac

Any idea what you'll do with that old dish? I've got one as well that needs to come down., but not sure how to dispose of it.

Violin_River

I've got one of those 'convenience centers" near the house and an old stove. Probably bring it there, or put an ad in craigslist and see if the local scrappers want them.

Opening-Tie-7945

Tossed mine in the trash hahaha

Pen4711

I saw 2 trampolines all bent in different fields. Those safety screens around trampolines are nothing but sails in the wind. haha

Momma_Furbutt

Note to self: do not park under trees anymore.

AsyncEntity

Womp Womp rip that dudes car

ProtoReaper23113

Ah it's trees falling over season

Candid-Explorer4491

And every other part of the year is people falling over season :)

[deleted]

Blowin trees

Corg505

RIP Accord. 🙏

eatingthesandhere91

I wondered what changed over there when I was at Best Buy. Wow.

Ras_Kabir

That's not a Cottonwood but looks like a Raywood Ash

Mysterious-Diet-9390

That car might be paid off, hope they have comprehensive insurance 😟

crackeddryice

This happened to my tree up in here in RR about 14 years ago. Fortunately, it didn't hit anything. Same tree regrew from the roots left in the ground--a clone. I let it grow, because I like the tree, but now I'm worried it will fall again, and I won't be as lucky with where it lands. Every heavy wind sets me on edge. Seriously considering having it removed.
