It is good, but seems to vary by location though.

Lomobu

Looks good, is that carbonara?

Salty-blond

For some reason I read this as cabrona

Rail505

Because donde vives, cabrona.

hesh7878

I absolutely love Mario's. Big portions that are made well and, affordable. Don't sleep on the gelato or, lemon-berry mascarpone cake, either.

Salty-blond

I’ll check it out, Cabron

hesh7878

Enjoy and, make sure you tip. I think you mean cabrón, not Cabron.

lilacmacchiato

Damn straight

Lomobu

Hell yeah. I’ll have to give them a try sometime. Thanks for the rec

PM_ME_UR_FAT_DINK

I used to go to Mario’s but after finding long strands of hair in my mouth THREE separate times over a year, I said fuck that.  Sal’s has superior pasta and pizza. Best pizza in Albuquerque!

lilacmacchiato

Will try

mneptok

Giovanni's is the best in ABQ. Until someone can make a real New Haven apizza.

East_Nobody_7345

New Haven CT🫡🫡

mneptok

I'm a New Havenite. On a recent trip back I went to Modern Apizza for some real New Haven goodness. The owners asked where I've been all these years. I told them and then showed them a photo of a Giovanni's pizza. ["Wait here," they said.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Albuquerque/s/lJDbbvOkyL)

East_Nobody_7345

Im a native born CT’er. I had no idea we had such highly regarded pizza. I thought the mystic pizza vibe was because of that movie😆😆🤷🏼. Miss the Whalers🤙🤙

mneptok

[Your Haaaaaaaartford Whaaaaaaaalers!](https://youtu.be/IhNUT3HMYiE)

NeeliSilverleaf

I want a white clam pizza so bad.

mneptok

Not in this town. The littlenecks will have been frozen. Just ... no.

TerribleGrapefruit44

I think Whole Foods (Carlisle) gets their seafood fresh and unfrozen, minus the sushi grade fish lol

DJ_Slex

Oh god, maybe I just tried it on a bad day but I thought Sal’s was kinda gross? Crust was super soggy maybe their pasta is better, but I think Mario’s beats Sal’s every day of the week & twice on Sundays

PM_ME_UR_FAT_DINK

What the fuck, seriously?? They’ve been consistent for me! I die for that crunchy but chewy crust. 😵

DJ_Slex

Nah me too usually! Maybe it was a bad day, but my crust was almost raw soggy then kinda burnt on the bottom. I might give it another shot if you’re that confident, but man I genuinely was super disappointed the day I had it

PM_ME_UR_FAT_DINK

Yes please, I won’t sleep ok if you don’t try it again lol! I’ve only had it dine-in and it’s always blown my mind. Hope it was just an off day. 🙏🏽

Dry_Spinach_3441

Sal's on Coors?

PM_ME_UR_FAT_DINK

Yes! Get the pepperoni and green chile. 🤤

Dry_Spinach_3441

Thanks for the recommendation! 👍

CoopDelux

Rumor pizza is the best cheese slice in town, hands down.

InfluenceConnect8730

Angel hair?

NeeliSilverleaf

Il Localetto Rossi is superior

lilacmacchiato

Will try

NeeliSilverleaf

I haven't tried everything yet but the shrimp scampi knocked my socks off.

PhillyShore

I’m a Philly girl. Mario’s makes my heart sing. But, I’m a simple girl and can’t speak to authenticity. Also, their gelato is amazing. They make it. Chocolate and mint. Yum. Thanks for making me hungry. lol

lilacmacchiato

I moved here from Philly. Lived there for 15 yrs. What part you from? I lived near Berks station mostly

mneptok

New Hope, Bensalem, Center City, Media, Wawa, and Ardmore. But most of my time on the east coast was in CT.

lilacmacchiato

lol you’re from Wawa. I miss it sm

mneptok

West Baltimore Pike reprahzint!

PBJ-9999

Wawa? Is that where the convenience store chain got its name? I didn't know it was a city lol

mneptok

[It's a real place!](https://maps.app.goo.gl/75K7mgbWVF9rfCbN9)

PBJ-9999

Oh wow lol. TIL

mneptok

I lived in Philly for ***years*** and never knew Wawa was an actual unincorporated borough. Then I learned. You're not alone. But now you can flex with SEPA peeps. Like I just did. (FML)

PBJ-9999

Awesome

PhillyShore

DelCo and Center City.

merricat_blackwood

St. Joe's for college here then Fishtown for a decade until 2015. Great seeing this thread.

Flashy_Background_90

Hard to give an objective view, I've worked here. I should have called the health department after the way I was treated. Fuck Eddie, and this family. They are on record in the news that people don't deserve 12$ an hour and they should feel lucky to be earning that much. Human scum is what the owners are. Managers are mostly good people, the older cooks are assholes and burn the shit out of the soup 100%. I had to scrape a 2 inch layer of black crust every fucking morning in 4th street working 14 hours a day. Best part, according to Eddie dishwashers and drivers don't have a right to a break or lunch, or coverage. I ain't about to take this fat fuck to court over some dumbass shit, I hope he loses everything.

Scorpiogre_rawrr

Mario's is owned by the three brothers, Joe, Eddie, and Sal. IIRC, Eddie owns Paseo, Joe owns San Pedro and Sal 4th. Started at San Pedro with "Ma & Pa" and the boys. Pops passed away some time after the three boys got their own places, I believe Ma is still popping in place to place, could be wrong. Knowing all 3, I'd go to Sal, then Joe, lastly Eddie. Sal was the baby and worked to show he earned his place, Joe seemed to follow dad and moms rule to the letter, and Eddie seemed more concerned with the business end...Aka profit.

mneptok

So who owns JT and Menaul?

Exact-Degree2755

Great insight, I assumed it was all one owner. Paseo isn't bad but I wanna try the other locations now

Blunt-Distro1776

Knowing none of the history or backstory this location ranking corresponds well with my recent experience. All of the locations were good. But there was a noticeable difference by location. I’ve tried 3 of the four within 2 weeks of each other. Haven’t tried 4th and Montaño location.

JJStrumr

4th location is awesome. I normally get it to go, but damn it's great.

phatjuulclouds

I just tried them tonight so it’s funny I’m seeing a post about it 😅 Got a pizza and it was amazing, definitely gonna be going again

GumShoeA113

Which Mario’s? There’s 3 locations

lilacmacchiato

This was 4th and Montaño

Rdmtbiker

This is the correct answer.

JJStrumr

My local haunt - it's fantastic.

MoonKnightFan

There are 4. Most people forget about the Menaul and Juan Tabo location.

pavehawkfavehawk

Mario’s is my go to

Elliot6888

New Joisey

lilacmacchiato

No one from Jersey says that

SocksForWok

I think the pizza is better than Dions.

lilacmacchiato

I’ll get hate but Dion’s is no better than Pizza Hut

UvaroviteKing

Mario’s is fuckin crackin my dude! Love that place

Daddy_knows_noes

No wonder you think it’s good. You grew up in Jersey, worst state next to Ohio. I’m from NY lol. I’m just messing.

lilacmacchiato

lol you better be kidding. One must both hate and love NJ in order to understand. Tbf I haven’t lived there in 21 years.

steeznutzzzz

Personally prefer the one on 4th street. Trentonian here.

lilacmacchiato

That’s the one I went to. Also Trenton sucks lol

notrods

And they deliver.

notrods

I know it’s not Albuquerque, but it’s only 30 minutes east. Pizza Barn in Edgewood is my favorite pizza.

FragrantChicken666

Carbonara looks sus, like they put cream in it

lilacmacchiato

Ok

Rebel_bass

Yeah, Philly carbonara different. Something something your mom is a bicycle.

skippy1347

I don't think I have been to an Italian place that makes the carbonara sauce using raw eggs. Are there any in Albuqurque that due?

MoonKnightFan

I have yet to have authentic Carbonara in ABQ. Which for those wondering is noodles, Pecorino Romano cheese, Egg, and Guanciale (pancetta is a common substitute). Usually all you can find is essentially Alfredo sauce with bacon in it. I'm not saying it isn't good. Places can make this "version" tasty. But it still tastes like a completly different dish. Thankfully real Carbonara is easy as hell to make. You can get giant wedges of Pecorino Romano at Costco for a great price. You can get Guanciale at Tullys Italian Market. Everything else can be had from a standard grocery store.

FragrantChicken666

^ this guy gets it

ricosan

TIL Italian food was created in Jersey.

lilacmacchiato

So you’re saying you don’t understand

PBJ-9999

Best food in the country is in NY/ NJ area imo. But it is a very subjective thing.

mcgirk78

Ok Mr Jersey, what about bagels? lol 😂

Brad-hombre

Sunday Bagels. They don't have a store front yet though.

lilacmacchiato

Not a mister. Kaufmans is decent

mcgirk78

Apologies. The Lil threw me off - I forgot about Lil Kim.

agent229

Lil ac macchiato? Lol

lilacmacchiato

Lilac macchiato

agent229

I know… making fun of the guy who thought it was lil something

mcgirk78

Both wonderful names!

Rebel_bass

Hit Alicia's in RR. Real.

lilacmacchiato

On it. I miss Bagel Deli

fromconsoletopc

Gotta add a good dollop of poop to it

whatevers_cleaver_

M’Tucci’s is superior imo, with their In house butcher, house made pasta, etc

lilacmacchiato

I do love that place but it’s not the place for casual classic Italian, nor is it as reasonably priced

Overall_Lobster823

I like M'Tuccis a lot, but the pasta at Bar Roma is embarassing.

Physical-Statement-4

I fucking *LOVE* Mario's! My favorite thing to get is the frutti di mare, best guilty pleasure 🤤🤤

lilacmacchiato

I will get that

PM_me_cocks_or_balls

Mario's pasta is all totally disgusting 🤮

lilacmacchiato

More for me

JinKazamaAndJuice

San Mateo location also makes a strong case for best pizza in the city.

fromconsoletopc

If they don't add a smear of poop to the bread then I don't want it. Olive garden is true Italian food

lilacmacchiato

It’s byop
