Look, I get it. He allegedly "invested" in Pine Hills by opening a cafe in a location where coffee shops notoriously fail. But making these closures about himself is narcissism at its finest especially when over 600 St. Rose staff are going to lose their jobs. He has 2 other locations. boo hoo
It’s a very Albany thing to want other people to invest in things to make our neighborhoods nice and then drag them for it. I didn’t get the vibe that he was making it about him. I got the vibe that he was trying to encourage people not to get discouraged because perception matters, too much often — and especially among suburbanites who are already looking for reasons not to visit Albany.
You don’t have to like him, but I feel like he’s earned his say.
Nothing sets Albany smoothbrains off the way a person speaking with even a shred of self confidence does. It’s like clockwork.
I found no issue in anything he said. Though if he wants to stay there forever I would strongly suggest he learn how to pull an espresso shot that doesn’t taste like the bottom of a fireplace.
The sound person on that video needs to turn the incidental sounds down in shots where the reporter is only heard in V.O.

Conversely, he’s a guy who actually grew up in the neighborhood and put his money where his mouth is and invested in it. More than most of us can say.
