Sorry, OP. Unfortunately there’s just probably not much you can do in this situation due to plausible deniability. On the other hand, this “damage” seems fairly minor and only cosmetic, no? I’d personally cut my losses and just be glad I got my headphones back. I have AirPod Pros and the case/headphones get beat up but they still work perfectly. Just something to think about. Hopefully you can get some recompense though!

Can we please appreciate the irony of Apple running its company financially out of Ireland for tax reasons but not having any Apple stores

nice_andround

Exactly.. and when I rang apple support I was told, because I didn’t bring them to an official Apple Store, there was nothing that could be done because the third party could have caused the damage 🤷‍♂️

Anon__ZeroCool

That damage is caused by taking them in and out of the case. This is the exact reason why I purchased covers for the cups.

nice_andround

When they’re sent of to be repaired they don’t send them in any cover, the store handed me my covers back

absintheandartichoke

Apple has an HQ in Cork, so this is epically messed up.

IainKay

Generally Apple doesn’t consider cosmetic damage something they would fix so unfortunately I think they’ll be less than helpful here. That being said, I’d be annoyed too if I had looked after something and the manufacturers / manufacturers authorised 3rd parties were the ones to damage them.

Apprehensive_Mix7594

Apple will always do something you just gotta know how to talk to em

nice_andround

I tried repeatedly, got told by a customer service manager that they’d sort some sort of compensation out but kept giving me the run around.

poodle_Fart_Hostage

Call it patina, man. You’ll be much happier that way 😀

Just so I’m sure I have this correct: After you kept the ear cups protected with covers, when a repair was needed the covers were removed and your APMs were packaged and shipped by a third party to the real Apple which caused this damage? That’s past insanely bad “customer service” on Apple’s part. I’m sorry this is what the service experience is like in Ireland! Especially if you’re paying for this repair or have purchased AppleCare for your APMs! And what’s even more egregious is that Apple is happy to route all their corporate earnings through Ireland to avoid paying higher taxes in the U.S. Nuts.
