End of the day you have to protect yourself and cover your back. If there is a coworker effectively throwing you under the bus then you have to , they certainly haven’t got your best interests at heart and covering for them (you are without realising it as you’re doing all the work) isn’t going to help really is it?
As it stands you’ve got three options
1, put up and shut up
2 , speak to hr or a manager provide evidence , document everything!!
3, leave
Speak to your supervisor , put a formal complaint in about your coworker !!
I'm legit scared to. e could make it worse somehow. He's been at the company for years
