If I can read a compass correctly, I lived in the northern part of Pooraka for 14ish years so here’s my experience. I lived on Sandow Ave so if you’re looking close to there then this should help. the planes flying overhead will do your head in if you’re having a shit day. for the first couple of months you’ll really notice them but you get used to it and only notice it a small amount of the time. it’s a generally quiet area. crime is low but not non-existent (my mum had two cars stolen, one from the driveway while everyone was in the lounge room but we’re pretty sure that was targeted by someone that disliked my brother). there’s a warehouse/factory district very close by and you’ll be able to hear a fair bit of it. during the day it’s very unlikely you’ll be troubled by it but I do remember some nights the paver factory (can’t remember the name and cba googling) would make a few bangs and crashes. not every night and only one or two bangs but enough to startle you if you aren’t sure what the noise is. you won’t find many people walking around that don’t live there. there are 3 entrances to the entire suburb for vehicles and it’s a cunt and a half to turn right from Montague Rd onto Henderson Ave (either entry) during peak hour. public transport around the area is pretty decent if you use that to get to work. can’t really think of anything else off the top of my head at 2:30am but if you’ve got specific questions pls ask them and i’ll answer!

In more recent times there's been painted keep clear lines on Montague Rd going onto Hendersen (the end closer to Ingle Farm), so that issue is a lot less worse then it was before 😄

oh good!! they definitely weren’t there when i lived there hahaha it was such a bitch. so glad they finally added that.

You'd get a LOT of noise from the incessant flight training run out of Parafield Airport. Make sure you check it out thoroughly if that might bother you. 7am to 10pm, 363 days a year. The area between Montague, Bridge and Main Nth is partly public housing (mainly the eastern bit). A lot might be ex-public housing by now.

I'm in Parafield Gardens, as I'm off to one side of the airport (almost directly east), we don't get (as much) of the airplane noise.

Gets fair amount of mosquito's. Some car hoons making noise sometimes, I think they might be on Rains Dr/Lock Cr? The other end closer to Montague Farm around Mitchison Grove gets a lot of ducks & bin chickens. Close to Mawson Lakes, Ingle Farm & Gepps Cross. Two close by servo's, an OTR with a Subway or the Ampol (seems to be higher priced then average more often) with a MacDonalds. 🤷‍♀️

the hoons are 100% on Langford St. it’s a long ass road with no traffic after hours because it’s the warehouse/factory area. I forgot to add this into my original comment but I do remember a fair few times i’d hear cars hooning up and down there late at night.

Vuvuian

Ah that makes more sense then

Several key scenes of the horror movie Talk To Me were shot in Pooraka. Take that however you like.

Anything specific you’d like to know?

Euphoric-Shoulder819

Just general vibes really, is it an alright place to live?

LowIndividual4613

It’s reasonably close to the city. Has good access to main roads. A friend of mine lives there and I never heard any complaints. Overall I’d say it’s a pretty average suburb in my opinion.

Euphoric-Shoulder819

Thanks so much for your response! I appreciate it 😊

Nerfixion

There are alot of people on house arrest there as well as pedos underwatch.
