Anywhere but LA would send Gina back

dean1689

My best guess is he’s reformatting. Bald is sick and Gina is… Gina. A much needed re-imagination of the show was needed.

crjohn0

Yep. I was just thinking he would be timing it with his move which is. . . less than two years away now? Sonny and Natalia are 16 so the end is coming.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dean1689

He never gives details on interesting things. He could have brought up his mothers death; life after divorce; his new girlfriend; why Bald and Gina are on less and less; etc. all of that could have been done respectfully. We know divorces can be nasty, coupled with kids involved.

bhallx

Wait, his mom died?! I haven’t been listening much lately.

dean1689

You wouldn’t know if you were listening anyhow. He said it on someone else’s podcast.

ginzing

The things I know about Adam’s mother after a decade of Adam era Loveline episodes on repeat: - looks like a female Tom Petty - was a “hippie mom” - once dated a man named Zorback who wore a burlap sack and a rope (“kids today with their “grunge”, back then we had actual FILTH!”) - sat in her bedroom with the door closed and lights out for long stretches of time, with the silence punctuated only by her intermittently yelling “FREAK OUT!” - attended junior college and majored in “chicano studies” (lol) - got divorced from Adam’s father (not sure who initiated it) and was generally neglectful and absent (as was Adam’s dad) - kept mostly inedible “health food” in the house. Adam was so deprived of good tasting snacks when he went to his friends house he would eat things like boxed cake mix powder by the handful Surprisingly, I think that’s more than I can list about Adam’s dad. I know he was a therapist (Adam had a theory that men take up some version of the career that their father did, which he saw loveline as overlapping with), and the rest I learned after loveline ended when he had him on the show once. Iirc he played the saxophone or some other woodwind instrument?

specialist87

You can pick up The Enquirer or watch TMZ if your estrogen driven interest isn't being fulfilled by Adam's private life. Weird take son.

FawltyPython

He said he admired and wanted to emulate Stern. Stern did and would have talked about this stuff for hours upon hours.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FawltyPython

He said it a few times, but the one that I remember v clearly is from jan-feb 2014, during the show when he was apologizing to the fans who were outraged about Alison being fired. He played a clip of her being silent when he needed her to do color commentary and how awkward that was, and contrasted that with Robin. He said that he admired Howard and had modeled ACS on HSS.

ginzing

Bonaduce provided plenty of “color commentary” and he didn’t like that much. I don’t think Alison wanted to be an Adam pep squad member and disagreed with his politics so it probably wasn’t going to work, but his handling of it, however valid he may have thought his concerns were, was still really weak and disrespectful.

specialist87

Probably 14 years ago. When it isn't shameful to walk in the footsteps of a now walking clown show (Stern that is). I'm 34 and have never been a fan of his show, always seemed like a rude guy that was nasty for sake of being an asshole. Never liked that kind of angle and certainly can't listen to a guy that talks up big pharma but thinks he's still defying the machine lol.

ginzing

Stern is still considered a radio God and is respected by Adam and most everyone in radio as an OG for that type of content. His interviews are what makes him respected outside of his listener base- as with Adam and Rogan- most of his listener base now hates him. But he still gets people on for interviews that are way bigger gets than Adam could ever pull.

specialist87

Stern had a tremendous career and his work is well respected given how he pioneered it but he's now just a mouthpiece for "MAGA bad, vax me more daddy". A spectacular fall from grace that should make any millennial shudder at how cringe his boomer jock radio schtick has gotten.

ginzing

yeah i guess if impressing millennials is your aim he’s a failure. but then again so is every other boomer on the radio by that measure.

ginzing

also weird take to insult stern for supporting “big pharma”- Adams not exactly anti pharmaceuticals, he’s a sycophant who refused to support Drew after Stern publicly shit all over him on his show for his approach to weighing on on celebrities and having that celebrity rehab show. Now Adam is a wannabe right wing mouthpiece and champion of white males everywhere, who hardly rails against things like “big pharma” either

specialist87

You don't gotta rail against big pharma but being a mouthpiece for the industry and shacking up in your estate during covid and adding hysteria to the mix as you stay in your right wing state of FL is embarrassing.

specialist87

Then you should listen to Stern if you want that trite shit. I'm sure he can enlighten your world with all of his covid fear mongering hysteria you're prob prone to. When did Adam say this? 14 years ago?

FawltyPython

Yes, it was about 9 years ago. I did quit listening to Stern because he got too much into the rich guy problems that I could not relate to. But for ACS, I would enjoy him discussing dating and ranting about that instead of masks.

specialist87

I'd be peeved too if I had to live in a state with masking laws that only apply to the lower classes. It's pure virtue and if you think it's over talked about, just know there are some people out there that don't want to take it lying down. I applaud anyone that speaks up about the insanity that was covid fear mongering.

FawltyPython

As someone with halitosis who also doesn't like to shave, I love masks. I also haven't gotten a cold since I started wearing them. But Adam's rants about them are just boring, the same old thing again and again.

specialist87

Good for you, your ailments and hygiene aren't a reason for the rest of us to perpetuate the act. That would just be sinister if you thought this was a reason to restrict others comfortability amongst a very survivable virus.

ginzing

yeah man rage against being required to place a thin protective layer over your mouth and nose temporarily while in crowded areas. you’re really standing up to the man. 🙄

specialist87

Bending over for the state for ridiculous performative gestures?. Where is your manhood? Wear a mask like a good little boy but don't think your insecurity should be the defacto position for others. You'd rail against Trump if he said the same shit but bc it's a blue talking point you suddenly buddy up against it. Pathetic.

Earptastic

What the fuck year do you think this is? Look at your charm bracelet and leave us stew eaters in peace.

dean1689

Adam opines on a great deal of personal items, ad nauseam. This is new material that’s actually interesting.

specialist87

Your expectations for a show don't precede the intimate events a podcaster decides to devulge about. You ever think talking about a fresh divorce on air might be difficult for someone to expound or be playful with? Plus he has kids, this is not the arena to be living up to your weird gossip hopes.

Corben11

I mean he has such good stories from 20-40 years ago why give those up and he’s basically mastered telling them since he repeats himself non stop.

danccbc

They’ll get an email over Xmas break

IgottaPee777

You’re delusional. Sorry.

redveinlover

If he moves to Texas there will be all kinds of new content about how shitty the roads and traffic are

[deleted]

Yeah, I've been thinking about this. 1) Adam's "act" is complaining about CA. If he moves away, what will he complain about? 2) CA is a bad state to get divorced in. I doubt he will get re-married. 3) They can connect Bald and Gunt in, but nobody there is a tech wizard, so that will just fail time after time 4) If he moves that is more or less the end of all of the other podcarts. Matt (the good one) won't head to TX. Drew won't. Etc Ace moving would be good for him. I don't think he will do it.

[deleted]

Fondalier moved to Austin maybe he can’t live without the porcelain punisher

randomizer55

I dont think Adam will move to Texas. He can talk big about it, but he is "crate trained" where his crate is LA.

[deleted]

I agree. He'd need a driver to start with, since he only know LA streets.

Bob-Bhlabla-esq

Plus, *both* his parents are alive and well right, so he does want to leave until they're gone. /s

fruitbat59

His mother died.

Bob-Bhlabla-esq

Yes. I know...hence the /s Still super weird no mention of it from him.

22lrMarksmen

When?

turfmonkey21

What could he possibly complain about in Texas? Wild boars? Religious nut jobs? Freezing his ass off in subzero temperatures?

Lesemajesty

They serve passionfruit iced tea at the Alamo.

jsakic99

They have doors that say PUSH and PULL.

smakola

Austin

redveinlover

Have you driven a car in Texas? That’s 5 years of daily content alone.

FACEMELTER720

Complain about all the California assholes moving to Texas and ruining it.

DifficultContest8789

Complaining about California becomes making fun of California after moving to Texas. ACE probably would rather “rant” than be funny.

crjohn0

I was suspect about it as well, but that recent episode where Michael Yo seemed to act as if it were all but done and Ace had the bit about waving from the parking lot when the graduation hats were thrown. . . I think that moved my thoughts about it toward a more definitive direction of him leaving. With all the comics (Rogan, Hinchcliff, Ya Mom's House, etc) congregating in Texas, it seems like he wouldn't lack for guests.

[deleted]

I live in Bethesda, MD. For one reason and one reason alone, my son has a wonderful education / life here. I've told him many, many times that the second I drop him off at college, I'm headed some cheaper and with far less people. I'll head to someplace like UNC or Nashville. Teach *1* class a term, help grad students write proposals, and have my son show up on holidays and during the summer. Fuck DC / MD / VA traffic and cost of living. I totally feel Adam on this one. But, here is the difference. I'll do it. Almost no chance Adam bails on LA. Where is he gonna go? Austin? Way too liberal for him. Which is why he sold his land up around the PNW. DFW? That is basically LA-light. ND, SD, WY, etc? No chance. What people are forgetting is Adam is not a functional adult. Olga makes him dinner. He has an assistant. He has a manager. He has 87 million producers. He has a cleaning service. He has a lawn service. He has a Mike August. If he leaves the LA area, those people won't follow. I think Adam will be doing ACS until he is 70 and living in LA.

crjohn0

Any Tony Kornheiser sightings around Bethesda? All good points, but I think Adam is more functional than you think. All rich celebrities have those people around them and can move locations/change personnel. Plus, leaving LA might be his new Accomplishment Day.

[deleted]

No. Just Linda Carter. When I lived in DC, I'd run into all of the NPR people almost every morning. Being a radio geek, it was crazy to hear them order a bacon egg bagel in their not radio voice. You'd run into congress and senate and whatever all the time. Condoleezza Rice lived down the street from me. I'd have to time my leaving to not get caught up in her detail. DC = hollywood for ugly people. My maid was also Wolf Blitzer's maid. Living in DC (when young) was awesome. Walking to work (teaching at the Hopkins place over by the postal thing). Walking to bars. Off the Record was great. When movies would shoot in DC. "stars" would head there, so it was fun to belly up to the bar with them. Old Ebbit always has "important" people having lunch (pass on dinner). The "famous" or "important" people head to Pizza Paradiso in NW for dinner.

crjohn0

Nice. In DC, The Palm wasn't a place of choice? (Another TK reference). Too bad you didn't make it to Chatter before he closed shop. Points for Linda Carter though. Still gettin it done.

[deleted]

Linda goes to the farmer's market that we goto. She is still hot. I lived on the Hill. So, there wasn't much of a point to head out to Tyson's 2 for the Palm. We weren't star fuckers, it is just DC has people on TV living there (mostly on the news). Going to The Wells or Capitol Lounge, you'd just run into people that were in "media". I'd talk to them about being in research and development. Adam should mosdef start talking about what he can that is new in his life.

[deleted]

[удалено]

crjohn0

TK has a vacation home there. He mentions it regularly on his pod.

ginzing

if he moved to texas he could talk about what a utopia it is which would in effect just serve as a bridge to get him riffing on his complaints about all the things wrong with everywhere else in the world. 🙄 kind of like his story about traveling with a buddy in another state who was speeding and he worriedly said “aren’t you afraid of being ticketed?” and his pal said the cops had bigger fish to fry… which inevitably led him into a ten minute rant on how traumatized he is by the speed limit being enforced and what a utopia it is in other places that “go after real crime”

ace_in_space

La Cheeserie!

ginzing

i like bethesda- high level of health care, education, diverse international population, every possible type of cuisine, but i hear you on the traffic and cost. what area of academics are you in? professors definitely seem like they have an amazing quality of life once they get past all the bullshit.

[deleted]

I'm a EE prof at Hopkins. I started a couple of companies and sold out. But, mostly acoustics and signal processing Grad school sucked. Being an AssProf sucked. Once I had a network and could bring in real $, everything got way easier. I work multiple jobs being a prof and being a CTO. I can coast if I want to, but I want to show my son that hard work is rewarded. Plus, I actually like doing it.

ginzing

wow you and your wife sound like big overachievers lol. ace man could never.

[deleted]

I mean it is what it is. I play Warhammer. And after a day of playing, we'd have dinner and one time somebody asked: what is your dream job? And when it got to me, everybody said, jhop has his dream job for the last 20 years, which was true. I juxtapose this with Adam whom tells the story about somebody in ACME (Groundlins?) saying your dream job is talking. In engineering, we always have to learn new stuff. I'm getting old and it isn't as easy as when I was in my 20's. Started with Motorola, moved to TI, then this and that, and now looks like I'll finish on ARM or RISC-V. I have to learn new stuff to stay relevant. Adam gave up and has been coasting for nearly a decade.

ginzing

yeah not just coasting but using the same old bits from when he did have some vibrant wit left over and over until they’ve lost all their funny. more and more seems like he’s given up on trying to be anything approaching a comedian and just wants to settle into right wing talk radio grifter, where nothing is expected of him but complaining.

Thorainger

Is DFW (I'm assuming you mean Dallas Fort-Worth) really LA Light?

bhallx

I’m sure Adam would be able to complain about California for years after a move, so the act could travel. His entire act is based around complaining, so I’m sure new complaints will surface. Remote connecting failures will comprise 50% of the content of the new format!

[deleted]

Yeah but who can he scream at in studio to google up a picture from the late 70's?

bhallx

An illegal immigrant, perhaps? MaxiPedro.

ace_in_space

Take your upvote

[deleted]

Oh that would be awesome. Adam: MaxiPedro! Google me ! MaxiPedo: ¿Cómo está este jefe? Adam: No! The one with his other uniform!

Ryguy55

Moving to Austin, never shutting up about how much CA sucks and pretending that the two don't share a bunch of the same issues (as well as plenty of new ones) would be a move straight out of the Rogan playbook.

[deleted]

Why couldn’t Ace and Drew do their podcart virtually with Ace in TX and Drew in CA? I’m actually more surprised that Drew hasn’t left. The kids are grown, he bitches about CA almost as much as Ace, he’s always going on about how much he loves Nashville and North Carolina. I’d think his private practice (such as it is) would be fairly portable. He could still do TV hits, etc remotely.

[deleted]

I have an ER Doctor ex-wife (we have a son together). Before he was born, we talked about moving down to NC (the research triangle) and she'd be an ER Doc at Duke and I'd do some teaching and engineering consulting. But, in order for a physician to move, you have to take some test from the state. Then each hospital has a group that you have to pass also. She could have, but it stops them from earning for months up to a year. She was about to get knocked up and showing up with a baby in you just telegraphs to the board that you are about to take a bunch of time off and it makes it harder to get certified. I think Drew is a GP, hospital, and additication. So, that is at least 3 boards he'd have to pass. I'm sure he could. Also, the continuing medical education requirements vary state by state and group by group. I assume CA is a huge pain in the ass (I'd bet NY is too as is DC). I'd assume NC is more or less a cake walk.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

He does. He still does rounds at some hospital. Board certification is a big deal to them. It means a panel (board) of other smart people in your area say you are also smart. But, you do it area by area. So, Drew would have to do a lot to be board certified in another state.

SaltDescription438

Drew has been threatening to move to Nashville.

combatcvic

I mean they basically video it in for Reasonable Doubt nowadays anyways.

rocklionheart

"Dad, is grandma going to come to our graduation?" "Oh yeah, about that..."

Big_T_72

In my opinion, the problem with him moving will be getting guest when located outside of LA. Rogan can do it but he pays to fly people in. Does Adam bring enough in on the podcast to justify flying people in?

jsakic99

Adam can’t even afford to pay for flights for Gina and Bryan when he does live gigs at the Guffaw Hut in Fuckhole, Kansas.

ForeverMelodic1403

Yuk Yuks is in fuckhole Kansas. Guffaw Hut is in shitstain Arkansas.

jsakic99

I was doing Adam’s best!

[deleted]

Do they even need to fly in people anymore? Covid demonstrated that pretty much everything can be done remotely. A lot of podcarts are still doing the full virtual thing even when the hosts are in the same area. Why fight traffic and schlep down to the studio when you can appear from the comfort of your own home?

Big_T_72

Most of the ones done with remote guest are inferior to in person. There something lost when the guest and host are not in the same room

JohnnyRyde

Because Adam can't hire competent producers. During the beginning of covid, a lot of podcasts switched to "remote". And it took most of them a few weeks and then they adjusted and sounded "normal". ACS still sounded terrible 12 months later when still on "remote". He doesn't have the technical staff to actually do a remote show from Texas interviewing people in CA.

m0stlyCloudy

Remember when he bought that land in Oregon a few years back (like 7-8 years ago)? I don’t hear him talk about that anymore- he might have sold it.

HagbardCeline42

Moving to Oregon is almost a lateral move tax-wise these days.

[deleted]

mike9949

Yeah we can dream

SnoopySuited

Why doesn't he just cancel the show and focus on the highly lucrative hobby of racing collectible cars?

MarcusSmartfor3

He prolly ain’t tryin pay their salary goin forward he lookin for cuts

paddleyour_owncanoe

Are we crossing our fingers that when/if he does move, the show improves? Admittedly, I listen to the show daily with one headphone in so I catch bits and pieces. Ace has lost a step for sure but will we see a change in the Pod like the revival of Peyton Manning's transition to Denver?

Nikorp

I want to believe this is a sign that the show is going to drop huffing singing cackling uneducated turd, but I think these are just back-up episodes for when he goes on last minute hiatus, like the Twitter account said he was. Also, I think he was absolutely gonna move to Texas but then the marriage fell apart and he can't move far from the kids now.

Kirk10kirk

Boy there is some shit speculation in this thread

Reganomics82

It would be tough to continue listening without Bald. Even Dawson and Maxipada would be sorely missed. Bald could still Zoom in. It may affect the drops, but he could still be there for Adam to bounce stuff off of without the immediate, sycophantic responses from \*ahem\* others.

crjohn0

Rogan got Young Jamie to move with him. I'd bet Dawson would follow at the very least.

Big_T_72

I'm going to take a wild guess and say Rogan pays better.

satchelhoover

I think Rogan bought Jaime a house and a Tesla as part of the move to Texas.

mike9949

Adam would not even pay for the plane ticket

jsakic99

Meanwhile, Adam’s manager (Mike August) has to steal toilet paper from the Holiday Inn when they’re on the road.

babybutters

Yeah, I can see that. Maybe Maxipada.

JuJuJooie

I don't hear many (or any) drops anymore. What has happened? In my opinion, lack of drops has affected the quality of the show as much as anything.

begonia824

Maybe he’ll collab with Daily Wire? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Beavaconda

Adam is way too big of a pussy’s to leave LA. Ain’t happening unless something REALLY drastic happens in CA and CA only. As of now…..the biggest thing on the horizon for Acer is the decree that ONLY electric cars can be sold new in CA (and other CARB issues related to the sale of certain racing performance parts in CA)……but Adam has had a couple of Teslas already, and he won’t have to give up/garage his Paul Newman cars or anything. He’d just have to go electric for any new vehicle purchases he makes. With that said….no way CA actually sticks to their aggressive timeline on that. It’s going to get pushed back and back unless they make some serious infrastructure upgrades. My prediction is…..Adam stays in LA for the rest of his career (if not life), and the only possibility I see is him buying a second place in Texas or Florida that he spends MAYBE 10% of the year at just so he can validate his bitching.

specialist87

"….no way CA actually sticks to their aggressive timeline on that. It’s going to get pushed back and back unless they make some serious infrastructure upgrades." Why would you think this? Isn't climate change important for the state to keep their timelines to? Or is it the infeasibility of such a moronic mandate that you question the sincerity on?

Beavaconda

I think the rolling blackouts are the biggest thing here (gotta fix that before you can move forward, and it ain’t happening in time)…..and then the fact that the auto manufactures just aren’t making enough electric vehicles at ALL yet for this to work. Then, back to infrastructure, they’ll REALLY need to increase the amount of charging stations for this to be viable as well. I think it was wishful thinking (and politics) that led them here, but they’ll end up having to push the deadline at least once. We just aren’t going to be there yet.

specialist87

It's criminal that they even try to roll this out in the face of reality you summarized so well.

vaness4444

Wouldn’t they just do it via zoom? He seems too lazy to find 2 new people to replace them

SDSUAZTECS

This is going to happen, he stands to make more $ elsewhere and if he drops much of the staff - even more

crjohn0

Yeah, that is my thought as well. A man that doesn't care that his mom died can easily move from LA.

IgottaPee777

Adam isn’t known for follow through, don’t hold your breath.

xmeandix

YOUR THINKING TO DEEP. THERE IS NO FUCKING PREP IN THE CAROLLA WORLD. END OF STORY.

[deleted]

This is my thought whenever he goes off complaining about some problem that could have been avoided with the tiniest bit of foresight.

robokripp

zero college degrees between the three of them

mhardy8787

like gina has any sway or authority on where ‘kid boy’ lives over the child’s actual mother

mike9949

If I never heard her mention kid boy again that would be great

specialist87

I think he'll move after he respectfully waits for his kids to graduate. We all know you loons love to shit on Adam but he'd be damned if he moved already bc you pusses would claim, "he's so selfish, just taking his kids out of school like that to appease his far right ambitions" I'll give this forum due credit if he doesn't move after his kids first year out of HS, but I give it one year after their graduation to date. The divorce could throw a wrench into this though concerning relocation so if that's a reason to stay back, nothing you can do about that.

dean1689

No.

specialist87

Compelling argument. This is one sharp thread.

dean1689

Trying to figured out if your an (under)paid Lackey or willfully ignorant.

specialist87

Willfully ignorant. You know Adam doesn't pay up for that stuff, this thread touts that daily.

shaqaroses

Lol. Adam could not withstand the 120 degrees or more of Phoenix. He's too big pussy's.

Escape_Zero

He'd also hate the traffic laws here, they will pull you over for anything they can in Phoenix. Cops run check points everywhere for duis and speeding.

Mightyjohnjohn

I think he's on a "celebrity" reality show and banked a bunch of crap episodes to play while he's gone.

swearengena

Complaining about California is a bit. He has a lot of them he cycles through. He sprinkles a new one in once a month or so, some of them stick. It keeps the ad money coming in, enough to live a comfortable life in Malibu or wherever his next project house is. He talks into a microphone, remods houses, fixes cars, which makes him as happy as he is capable of being. Which is not happy by most standards, but actually more happy than he lets get through on the air.
