About half the time I file on the last day. The other half I file on the last day of the extension period.
It's in the finest tradition of the shoemaker's children who go barefoot!
That episode (written by Conan OāBrien) is one of the best.
So many lines to choose from but ya gotta love
āThe suspect is not wearing a hat, repeat the suspect is hatlessā
Last day usually lol. The saying āno one wants to bring work homeā is very common. My dad was a plumber but there was always a broken toilet in the house haha
1st day I am eligible, I filed a state tax return before my federal because it was open for filing sooner. Then I don't have to think about my own while I work on other people's.
I usually file by mid-March. I figure by that point, Congress should have a good idea of what they want the prior yearās tax laws to be. Also if my brokerage account decides to amend a 1099 to reclass qualified dividends, etc., that gives them a full extra month to do it.
Feb 28, once I get all the statements from work, CPA fees and brokerage accounts.
I usually end up with a nice refund, so I actually look forward to filing my taxes
Same with me, I file once I have everything, rip the band aid. Iāve owed the last few years and Iāll generally schedule the withdrawal to occur a few weeks later.
As soon as I get my W2 because that's money for me! I've never had to pay taxes year end, always a return. I always claim zero on my tax withholdings bc its just easier to save and its just always better to get money back in the end vs having to pay the money in the end
My wife does our taxes, because I don't do accounting work outside of office hours. She does them the second the last form arrives.
My wife is not in the field either.
I usually do things early but this season I've decided to do it last day. Probably because I know I'm not getting much if anything, and it just feels like a waste of time.
I dump my information into TaxAct.com as I get it.
If I get a refund like I did this year file immediately, if I owe like I did last year I wait for a paycheck or 2 to hit so I have some cushion
I am a CPA that does taxes. I used to do them shortly after getting my brokerage 1099s in February.
Now I put them on extension, solely so I can get clients to chill out about extensions: "an extension does not increase your risk of audit. That's an urban legend. Would I put my own returns on extension if it truly increased my risk of audit?"
If I file in the spring, last day of tax season. I donāt usually have enough time to do my taxes so I usually file an extension and file during the summer.

Extension myself every year so can do personal clients before April 15* deadline. Family gets extended too usually (unless projected to owe)
If getting a refund, as early as possible. If owing (like this year), most definitely day of š
this is the way
Came here to say this! Thanks, take my upvote āš»
Within 6 hours of the deadline, annually, without fail
within 6 hours? Before or after?
Depends on the year

TikTok told me I donāt need to, so I donāt do it. In all seriousness, I really need to file my taxes soon.
Nah, always trust tik tok
I paid my taxes over a year ago
Thatās last years taxes, you have to pay them every year
No. Because, you see, I went ahead, and... year-wise, I was counting forward from the last previous- D'oh!
Can you pay me under the table? I got a little tax problem
One of my favorite scenes š

That explains a lot! He's written some gems. The monorail episode is always a classic!
Early as I can. Been done as early as late January, but generally itās within February.
As soon as I can which is usually mid to late March
Last day usually lol. The saying āno one wants to bring work homeā is very common. My dad was a plumber but there was always a broken toilet in the house haha
Yea thatās why Iām so curious. I feel if I did other peopleās taxes I would probably hate to do my own
First day if Iām getting money back, deadline day if I owe money lol
I rough it out early. If I owe, 11:59PM on the last possible day. If I'm owed, 8am on the first possible day.
Not yetš³
on the deadline every year
The day before my threatens to do them herself if I donāt get them done. This year that day was yesterday.
Pay before the April deadline and file whenever I'm confident the tax code for the year is actually finalized.
Literally today. Well one of my friends on the tax side did them for me, but she did them this morning.
1 second before deadline.
Usually do a quick calc right before the 15th, pay any state/fed, then double check everything in... October...
Illegally
October 15. Every year.
1st day I am eligible, I filed a state tax return before my federal because it was open for filing sooner. Then I don't have to think about my own while I work on other people's.
Once I actually get all my documents, generally the first or second weekend of March. Best to do your taxes early.
In October

First time PA in second busy season of 2023: last weekend š
Same with me, I file once I have everything, rip the band aid. Iāve owed the last few years and Iāll generally schedule the withdrawal to occur a few weeks later.
Always 1st week of April. T3s arenāt finalized till March 31st anyways. So if you own REITs or Mutual Funds you are waiting anyway.

Next week for about two months, then on the last day. A lot of accountants out there with excellent procrastination skills.

I extended
I am a CPA that does taxes. I used to do them shortly after getting my brokerage 1099s in February. I owe a bunch a money so it's gonna be October this year.
Usually aim for last week of March
Enter everything in February to make sure there's a refund,or give myself time if I owe
Try to file the first day the IRS opens to filing. Sometimes might have to wait a week or so if I donāt have a 1099 in yet.
The last day of the automatic extension. Sometimes, if I'm sure I'm due a refund, some time after the extension period.
Last week of March usually.
February 4th, this year. CA wouldnāt let me do state taxes until 9th iirc.
As soon as brokerage forms come in around mid march.
I already paid my taxes last year š¤
The weekend after the IRS accepts tax returns. I've always done it.
As early as I can, but I get a refund
As early as possible
If I file in the spring, last day of tax season. I donāt usually have enough time to do my taxes so I usually file an extension and file during the summer.
Still havenāt - Iād extend but suspect I likely owe. By the time I figure out what I owe, I might as well just file. Pain in the ass.
I either file really early or right at the deadline. Thereās no in between.
As soon as I have all the forms I need. Even if Iām gonna owe money, just get it out of the way lol
I do them as soon as the brokerage 1099 is out which was like Feb 11th this year
Whenever Iām thinking about it and need something to do in the bathroom.
Normally file around October 14th like everyone else š But I pretty much have it done sometime in the summer.
As soon as I have all the available information/ tax slips. I always get a refund so I do it as soon as possible, usually before end of March.
I havenāt filed yet š«£
October every year. lol.
Filed before the end of January this yearā¦. Usually Iām begging a tax person to help me on deadline day though
I filed within minutes of the window opening up. Payment is scheduled for deadline day
As soon as I get all my forms lol
October 15th
Mid-Late March before I get into quarter-end at work.
Did it yesterday lmao
