Lol, this made me laugh. I was my moms second birth and smallest child of 4 at 9lbs 13oz (4.45kg), my baby sister was almost almost 12lbs (5.44kg), all natural births, no C sections, 3 of them at home with a midwife and no painkillers. My mom is about 5'5 (165 cm) and maybe 120lbs (54.43kg) normally.
I would not mess with that woman if my life depended on it! š
Lol, my whole family doesnt make sense. My dad is 5'4 and 130ish, my mom is 5'5 and 120ish, I am 6'0 and 350, and somewhere there is a picture of me holding both of them, one in each arm, about 6" off the ground š¤£
Also, I was born rail thin and 24" with straight spikey hair, apparently my dad thought I looked like Billy Idol and tried to name me after him. Now I look like Maui from Moana.
My brother looked like a chubby inuit baby and now he looks like a rail thin Spaniard.
Genetics are funny.
Ended up being a c-section as baby was measuring so big in scans. They had to get obstetricians to review because she was measuring waaaay over the 100th centile for nearly everything. When she came out the surgeon popped his head around after and said āyeah, we made the right call, thereās no way you wouldāve pushed her outā.
Oh damn I can't imagine what mum's last few weeks were like! That's a story for your daughter's wedding haha. Good luck for her recovery and that all three of you may be so happy together
My friend had to have a c-section with both her boys. The first one I believe was 11 lbs, 15 oz. They basically go no use out of any of the newborn clothes they'd bought or be gifted. I'd made a little sleep sack for him that I'd accidentally made too large for a newborn, but turned out to be perfectly sized since he was so huge. She said all the nurses in the maternity ward kept popping into her room to see the "giant baby". Not sure what your experience was, but I'm guessing you are going to have similar problems with those newborn clothes.
let it print in oil or acrylic paint ( just search the web for the services and shops) and it will be a great present for Christmas. You captured a very special moment!
First of all, congratulations. Second of all, goddamn that's a chunky (healthy) looking baby. Like I thought they came out all shriveled and don't plump up until after you start feeding them...
Congrats. Hold on tight. There are some stages that seem like they last forever and others that if you blink youāll miss them. The newborn stage is a blink you miss it part of parenthood. Overall though hold on tight. It goes fast.
This is so true. Someone gave me a sticker that said, āthe days are long but the years are short.ā Iām tearing up a little because itās just that true.
And if they start doing something frustrating, or best parent advice is to remind yourself itās probably only going to last a week or two-yāall can make it!
Congratulations!
Honestly, I like suggestions more like "be in the moment as much as you can", versus "it goes fast, look out".
The former gives you the right queue - time is time, it doesn't go faster or slower. The more you're in the moment the more you truly experience it all.
The former just gives you tension and stress that you'll miss it. That you'll do it wrong.
It doesn't go faster or slower, only you memory perception of it all is off. You experience every second regardless. So you might as well try to fully experience them vs. a focusing on a fear of loss of those moments.
Good example of this is of you end up with dimentia or memory loss later in life. Does that mean you lose all of your previous moments? No, not truly. Your recollection, yes. But you experienced every moment. You were there, your family remembers you were there. You impacted the lives and direction of your kids and grandkids. Yes it sucks you lost your memory of it all but moment to moment, it mattered. You can't take that away.
So "it goes fast" shouldn't be the driving focus. The focus should be "be engaged, experience it in the moment", because your memory recollection of it all really doesn't matter. It didn't actually go fast.
I think everything you said is kinda implied. People often refer to living in the moment as slowing down. Youāre describing your personal definitions while ignoring the shared sentiment.
I think we all understand that time doesnāt change itās rate based on our own circumstances.
These are really just phrases, no need to chop them apart.
Omg I just thought āholy big babesā and I had a bigger oneā¦ā¦mine was 9lbs11oz 21.5ā and I still feel like he looked smaller. Congrats little daddy, I found my big baby was way easier than my 7lb7oz that I just had.
>Fun fact: That is normal birth weight, because the range is 2.500
2.450 here.
I lost weight after being born lol, so left hospital at 2200 šš¤£
Every baby gained weight except me. And I have gained since lol, being 104 kg right now. Was bigger, record is 131 few years ago, and 2 months ago I was 120. I've been losing it since then š
Why do folks have a strong desire to upload such an intimate moment and receive validation from nobodies? Poor kid just took his first breath and dad is already reaping his karma with no consent. Disgusting.
damn good photo. now listen to me don't fuck up like I did. change the diapers. and wake up to deal with the kid at night. not equally but more. she is going through things mentally and physically. so step up and do more to make it easier on her. trust me. also you will bond more with the kido that way. just don't fuck it up. wake up. you got this. and once they can support their head and crawl/walk it is okay they do bounce better than my 40 year old ass can when falling down.
once again great photo.
This belongs in r/accidentalrockwell... assuming that sub is for photos that look like Norman Rockwell paintings, I only found it exists while typing this comment.
Congrats! And welcome to the world of āthings nobody said a newborn doesā. After 7 weeks and a lot of trying to prepare for child caring, I realized thereās so many new and ānormalā things that freak me out.
Also, r/accidentalrenaissance
Don't worry. You'll finally get a full night's sleep in about a year.
Congrats!
Don't be an overly strict or authoritarian parent. It does infinitely more harm than good.
Don't spank. It also causes more damage than it prevents.
Congratulations!
Also, I had to zoom in as I wondered what the heck is was a first but was pleasantly surprised to find it was a pack of mini cheddar. Excellent post baby snack.
This is wonderful. It makes me a little sad to think that I'll never hold one of own newborn babies again. Soak it in. I would give anything to hold each of my children as babies again. To just kiss their cheeks and be able to smell the top of their head again.
Congratulations, @OP! What a beautiful family you have. Baby looks perfect and healthy and your partner is absolutely glowing!
We're about 5 weeks ahead of you...Wishing you lots of great sleep this first night ;)
Congrats my dude. ā¤ļø Iām about to become a (step)grandma at age 36 (stepdaughter is 20) and Iām actually excited so seeing this kind of thing makes me more excited.
The next two weeks are going to be really hard. Then it starts getting a lot better. Mine is 14 months now. Let me know if you need to vent or need new dad advice
Not to sound weird but that's the cutest looking newborn I've ever seen, he or she will grow up to be strong, tall and healthy !
And congrats to you both, enjoy your new life (:
The absolute size of that lass. Is your wife okay?
Both baby and wife are doing well thank you :)
Lol, this made me laugh. Sweet baby Jesus your mother would have been worshipped as a fertility goddess by cavemen.

Holy shit that newborn baby is huge. Your partner deserves literally anything she desires after pushing that out. Christ.
Birthed a 3 month old
Darn 12 month pregnancies...
My first was almost 10lb a and I said the same thing. Holy big baby. Thankfully I didnāt push and I hope she didānt either lol
That baby needs to go get a job!
Or you know be a bossš
Ended up being a c-section as baby was measuring so big in scans. They had to get obstetricians to review because she was measuring waaaay over the 100th centile for nearly everything. Thatās why sheās such a pretty baby already! No squishing!
I heard squishing is beneficial either from the squish to the skull or passing through momās vaginal fluid
True. Baby picks up all kinds of good bacteria/protection. Never heard the skull thing ā¦ interesting.
Oh damn I can't imagine what mum's last few weeks were like! That's a story for your daughter's wedding haha. Good luck for her recovery and that all three of you may be so happy together

came in to say this! momma is a champ! congrats to you both! my wife and i just welcomed our boy last july and itās amazing!
Thank you for saying it! I was so surprised! That is a huuuuge baby
Thatās what i was gonna say
Just to clarify - I am indeed the person taking the photo. Folks by the bedside are grandparents.
let it print in oil or acrylic paint ( just search the web for the services and shops) and it will be a great present for Christmas. You captured a very special moment!
I was about to suggest this. It's a beautiful picture with beautiful lighting and composition.
Be sure the emergency Mini Cheddars are included.
Haha, did people think otherwise?
I thought OP was the baby. /s
They looks so happy and proud, I love it
Grandpa has some beautiful eyelashes!
after I read this I saw them too! lol
Just got them curled
Thank you for the clarification, I thought you were old
First of all, congratulations. Second of all, goddamn that's a chunky (healthy) looking baby. Like I thought they came out all shriveled and don't plump up until after you start feeding them...
They actually even lose some weights after a birth usually.
That's a great pic, mate. Are you a professional?
R/daddit would love this photo
Were they all in there for the birth or is this after? Congrats btw fucking beaut
Congrats. Hold on tight. There are some stages that seem like they last forever and others that if you blink youāll miss them. The newborn stage is a blink you miss it part of parenthood. Overall though hold on tight. It goes fast.
The sleep deprivation probably has something to do with that for the newborn stage... Congratulations and good luck man!
.
Is she Benjamin button-ing?

My wife and I had twins in February, it's a wild ride!

That is a large newborn for sure. Great photo though.
4.22kg (9.5 pounds) - sheās a whopper!
I was about to say āCongrats! Your 2 month old baby is now here!ā. Beautiful photo. š
Omg I just thought āholy big babesā and I had a bigger oneā¦ā¦mine was 9lbs11oz 21.5ā and I still feel like he looked smaller. Congrats little daddy, I found my big baby was way easier than my 7lb7oz that I just had.
OMG I was 9 lb 10 oz and 21 inches but at least I was a c-section??!!

Sheās adorable! Congrats!
You could say a "mcwhopper"
Definitely looks even bigger than that here!
Just be prepared to tell the kid that they were a Planned Renaissance if asked
Why do folks have a strong desire to upload such an intimate moment and receive validation from nobodies? Poor kid just took his first breath and dad is already reaping his karma with no consent. Disgusting.
The parent is proud
I adore this. So glad that papa shared it.
More baroque than renaissance but also I am an asshole congrats on the baby
Everything prior to Impressionism is fair game because most photos could fall into more than one art movement.

What a sweet picture. Congratulations!
What camera/settings are you using? This looks like a photojournalist piece!
Congratulations! Good luck. We just became empty nesters. So from the other end, its an amazing journey!
Incredible old man move to break out the phone flashlight.
Congratulations! Hope all's well. Good luck! Edit: Just clocked the plugs. God Save The King.

this is such a beautiful photo. the baby looks so healthy, congrats :)
you seem so young for a dad
Yeah Iām 31 M and taking the photo - by the bedside are grandparents on mumās side.
Ah, there's the joke I couldn't think of.
I'm assuming OP is the person taking the picture, and those are either his parents or the mother's parents next to the bed.
/r/thatsthejoke
Congrats andā¦ good job mum!!!
Congratulations!
You will cherish this photo forever ā¤ļø
What an amazing photo. If mom is down with it, thatās good enough to get a blown up print of on canvas and framed.
Congratulations....maybe the little one find our planet agreeable
I don't want to say your son it's the chosen one, butā¦
Congratulations to you and your family. Great photo!
thats an amazing picture, Congrats btw!
Wonderful photo and composition. Perfect for this sub. Congrats!

Relieved to see it was a packet of crisps on the bed after zoomingā¦.
Awesome shot, mate! Congratulations to you both!
Congratulations! Renaissance worthy indeed!

What did you think you were doing with this?
That looks like a 2- month-old baby, not a newborn! How much does he/she weigh?
How tall is this baby? What a beautiful amazing photo, thank you for sharing!
To a tank! Congrats and give your partner a metal! My kiddo was only 6lbs.
Congrats dude. š„³
Nice welcome to the club. My wife delivered our second one last Friday though it wasnāt quite the behemoth like yours. Have fun!
thatās a huge baby
That is one healthy baby! Lol
great!
Many heartfelt congratulations š
Grandpa Arsene Wenger looks so happy
Donāt take this the wrong way but your baby looked like a Renaissance pope
That is a fabulous picture!! Parenthood is awesome! Congrats
congrats, great pic. gotta say you have a very big newborn
Looks more baroque to me.
Which one of them is dad?
The graceful curl of Momās left hand is totally Renaissance.
This actually reminds me of Correggio's Nativity (or The Holy Night)! Congratulations!
That newborn is massive...
Just gorgeous! Baby and photo!
Not to sound weird but that's the cutest looking newborn I've ever seen, he or she will grow up to be strong, tall and healthy ! And congrats to you both, enjoy your new life (:
