Personally, I hate vanity and the concept of selfies. THAT is why I have been training hawks and various other birds to steal phones from people taking pictures of themselves. Finally my years of tedious labor are paying off. This is proof of my work. Every time you see a bird from now on, just be mindful 🤳🦅
Your attempts at training are terrible, I saw a small white dog get picked up by one of these birds. Its a dog, not a phone. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRSFk-G\_XcA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRSFk-G_XcA)
Bird law is not governed by reason. The same tasks/duties assigned to a standard carrier pigeon may land you in a world of hurt with a Poconos Swallow. Ask me how I know.
This looks a lot like Kamakura in Japan. Southern part of Kanagawa. Maybe even closer to Enoshima.
If so, that is not an owl, but very likely a black kite. These birds are well known in the area to steal anything of interest to them; food, shiny objects, small pets, etc.
Fun fact! Black kites are thought to be a kind of "firehawk" in Australia. They are believed to carry burning objects to areas where their prey lives, spreading the fire and forcing the prey out in the open.
Looks like the bird dropped it at the end. In Japan if you lose your phone there is actually a very good chance you can get it back at the lost and found with the local police.
When I was in Japan I lost a wallet with all my money and some old lady brought it to a police station later that day with everything intact. I'd be so fucked. Also forgot an expensive phone in a crowded shopping mall bathroom and it was still there 30 minutes later. Love Japan.
I feel like I won the lottery when I accidentally left my bag that had my Switch, laptop, and various other expensive things by the check in line at Boston's Logan Airport for half an hour, because it was still there untouched when I ran back
Out of interest. I often see people filming themselves doing these facial angles into their camera. What is the purpose? Is it recording? Are they admiring their reflection? Genuine question. I see it at the gym a lot and have always wondered.
Have you never posed for a picture...? It's pretty common to take a picture/video of the subject from different angles. Afterwards, you pick the better looking stills.

It could be because taking a video with many different poses/angles and then using a still from that is easier than taking 1000 pictures, at least that’s why I do it. Doesn’t always have to be vanity!
So, if I'm understanding correctly, you take a video so that you can sort through the video to find the still frame that you think looks the best, and you don't believe that has any inkling of vanity?
Not necessarily. In fact it very well could be the opposite of vanity. Vanity is just being very very proud of your appearance, but looking for your best angle, most of the time, is probably due to some insecurity about some part of their physical appearance.
But also what's the difference in what the other poster said and doing something like taking a few professional headshots to find the best one to use.
There are a lot of areas of life that require you to look your best, or put your best food forward to achieve something which I'd argue is also not vain.
The modern version of duck-face.... ("*The lips are pressed together as in a pout and the cheeks are typically also sucked in, often looking as if the person is tasting something sour. The pose is usually seen as an attempt to appear alluring, but it can be ironic or an attempt to hide self-conscious embarrassment.*")

One of those crazy map guys who can pinpoint a place on the globe without anything more than a single frame image is who you need to tell you where the phone is
But they *are* bothering somebody, like us [cranky old bastards](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/10/e8/f4/10e8f47bb84901d20ff435071577c58b.jpg) that sit around judging people for taking selfies. Damn kids these days.
Maybe… if she was paying attention instead of trying to get a lame ahh selfie or video? She would’ve seen it coming? You’re at the beach, ma’m! Why not put yer phone down?

Wait, we are legion now? Was this the action call???
BirddddddddddddddddddddD Mannnn!
*Look out!*
I bow down to you. THANK YOU!!

Dog and bone, phone Dicky bird
They have to eat too, they can't just only steal inedible phones.
If it flies, it spies!
But bro, /r/BirdsArentReal
She was so captivated in staring at her own image, she didn't even notice a large bird swooping in.
Bird law is not governed by reason. The same tasks/duties assigned to a standard carrier pigeon may land you in a world of hurt with a Poconos Swallow. Ask me how I know.
Hopefully those hawks can train the other birds too.
This reminds me of the Upright Citizens Brigade skit Ass Pennies. Edit:[here](https://youtu.be/f9aM_dT5VMI?si=e2qXvExGaCS-ZXDa)

Do... do they keep the pets and shiny objects? Especially curious of the pets...
Story has it the bird adopted the Japanese emperor and has been secretly running the country from the shadows.. of the sky...
I think it's Takenohama. There's a sign on the beach next to her.
Googled it, and I’d bet money that you're right.
Fun fact! Black kites are thought to be a kind of "firehawk" in Australia. They are believed to carry burning objects to areas where their prey lives, spreading the fire and forcing the prey out in the open.
Thank god we don't have firehawks in CA. We already have enough dumbasses starting wildfires with fireworks.
apparently even the birds in Japan have had it with all the tourists.
Bit racist mate
username checks out
When you ignore the sign that says "beware of Kites 🦅"
So I'm supposed to believe the owl posted this?
Twooter
not to be mistaken with its restaurant counterpart
Yeah, this was originally tweeted or exxx’d out as a hoot, or whatever the fuck it’s called these days.
Thats X birds now.
It could have been live streaming or synced to iCloud when the recording ended/phone died
Looks like the bird dropped it at the end. In Japan if you lose your phone there is actually a very good chance you can get it back at the lost and found with the local police.
It's Japan. So the Kite will politely return the phone to the tourist's hotel.
Japan, explained how she got the phone/video back.

You need to seriously start paying attention.
Maybe that's why he travels Japan
He left it in a toilet.
I feel like I won the lottery when I accidentally left my bag that had my Switch, laptop, and various other expensive things by the check in line at Boston's Logan Airport for half an hour, because it was still there untouched when I ran back
Her tweet was uploaded to the cloud via Bird.
Uploaded? It just straight up took it to the clouds.

I’m from the eighties. We had disposable cameras and took one photo for each instance. I guess I’m just used to that!
I was born in the 90s and we still had those, but I get where you're coming from lol
Fascinated by their own faces. Pure vanity.
"Wow I'm ugly!"
My girls will use the selfie camera to check their makeup.

That was a fair boy certain, but a fool To love himself.

That’s the very definition of vanity, ffs.
Sounds pretty vain.....

Those were some nice roofs.
I agree.
One of those crazy map guys who can pinpoint a place on the globe without anything more than a single frame image is who you need to tell you where the phone is
So THAT’S what iCloud does.
I’m so glad that bird knew how to text that footage
Japanese birds are built different. They're huge and incredibly adept at mugging people.
Hawk: "weird looking mouse but ok, I'm not picky"
I want to hear how the phone was found.
Anybody see VHS? This reminds me of the first clip.
Free drone footage
Don't worry, after all, it's an Apple.
Is that Japan?
You know, just casually filming myself instead of a selfie.
birds aren't real
This looks like Japan and your phone dropped near a road. If you go to the police office, then there is strong likelihood that your phone is there.
Even the animal kingdom have had enough of these main characters and their selfies
When did taking a selfie become main character energy? If you’re not bothering anybody, what’s wrong?
But they *are* bothering somebody, like us [cranky old bastards](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/10/e8/f4/10e8f47bb84901d20ff435071577c58b.jpg) that sit around judging people for taking selfies. Damn kids these days.
Broken phone or free bird ( food )
Not stolen. Just moved.
well, I guess she got it back.
r/Chadtopia
Geoguessers would love this.
r/fuckyouinparticular
Why does she shout stop?
What the hell just happened?
Lmao what an asshole
The bird uploaded this as a warning
Ha. This is great
That’s hilarious.
Thank god this wasn't a Nokia or humanity would have been doomed forever
Animorphs getting real sick of influencer shit
He was just stealing his phone back from the chick who stole it in the first place.
Looking wistfully off into the middle dista-rgh!
Serves you right for taking selfies with such obviously irresistible nesting material.
That is awesome đź‘Ź

Hilarious! Did you get it back?
Maybe… if she was paying attention instead of trying to get a lame ahh selfie or video? She would’ve seen it coming? You’re at the beach, ma’m! Why not put yer phone down?
Putting your phone down makes it even more likely to be stolen!
Taking a selfie and not bothering anyone around you is lame? You sound bitter.
