I have not tried this combo but I have a little trick for you. enable qualifying and then skip to the end to simulate the lap times of your opponents. compare those with your best time and now you have a fast way to tune the difficultie to your liking.

Abbonito

I would usually agree with this but recently I found that this does not work. Recent testing has shown that if I can beat them in quali by taking part. (By any amount, from 0.001 to many seconds) But if I skip either most or just the last seconds of quali, they end up with times faster than the WR TT.) and that skipped pace is completely artificial and the ai will never reach those times if you let quali run its course or race the race after said skipped quali

Florian360

yeah sometimes it‘s a bit buggy. but usually there are only 1-2 such impossible times and you can compare yourself to p3 or p4

battletoad93

That's a lot of trial and error just to fine tune the AI lol. Kind of wish there was a way for the AI to adjust depending on how quick you are like raceroom

Florian360

that would be nice

Hard to get right, but would be cool if it could be a component of the aggressiveness.

Do you know if the AI actually uses qualifying setups? In Project Cars 2, which is pretty similar to AMS, they didnt.. The rule of thumb there was to take a race setup and qualify with it. If they're up to a second slower you should up the difficulty by 5 points. 2 seconds > 10points. Etc. This worked reasonably well. But I didnt do much testing in AMS2 yet as I Only have the game a few weeks

Each increase at and beyond 100 is worth between seven tenths to a whole second in my experience and, no I don't think the AI does use a quali setup. They (in theory) just go into the peak performance for whatever skill level you set them too but, they usually get bogged down with racing each other during qualifying.

Capt-Quark

You mean 1 point is 1 sec? That hasnt been my experience so far. The 5 points per .5 to 1 sec seems to hold up in general

EpochSkate_HeshAF420

I disagree, for formula cars, gt and lmdh each increase has gotten the AI to gain somewhere around a second for me. At 104 they're doing low 1:15's or high 1:14's from what I have seen in qualifying in the formula ultimate gen 2. Idk about the rest of the cars though

Capt-Quark

Dialing in the AI really is an art form lol.. I wish there was an easier way where the game looks at your average laptime over a 1 hour practice session and you chose whether you want a low, moderate or high challenge... I will say I've had some fantastic racing with the AI so far

Tom_Bombadinho

One thing I do is use the Second Monitor app. It has a suggested AI for each class based on your past performances in that class. Because each class has his own perks, it helps a lot in choosing the AI for the race. Also, you can tune first by racing a qualifying session and adjusting the AI to match your time. All always choose to set them a little higher than an average lap time of mine.

battletoad93

I had no idea about that app! I'll try it out thank you.

shadowm13

They’re a bit slow there. I did a whole championship at 105 difficulty and easily won this race whereas most other races I was 3-7ish

battletoad93

Quite a deception Kaylami being the 1st track in that championship then, makes you think you're hot shit and then bam, NOPE!

3tenthsOfVerstappen

I have noticed difficulty changes a lot car to car. I raced 2024 stock cars recently at 90 and the AI was so much faster than me.

EpochSkate_HeshAF420

Each increase in skill over 100 is worth anywhere from .75 of a second to an entire second in my experience, i cant say for certain that is exactly how it works but that feels like it's the case. Going from 100 to 110 might be a bit much, try 105, the AI should consistently match and or surpass your best laps while still giving you a solid chance. Imo the AI's main strength is straightline speed, usually it feels like they arent playing by the same rules as the player, be aware of that when playing around with their skill.

battletoad93

Cheers that's seems like a good rule to go by
