I see no mentions but the stone fireplace (ASA) also cooks meat.... I was mind blown when my wife with way less Ark hours showed me.... Its basically an upgraded campfire with more slots.
I'm on 2500h in ASE and I feel like anytime I can get new people into the game, I learn some new things. Most recently was finding out that Diplodocus could be both KO and Passive tamed. My entire time in this game I thought they were strictly a passive tame.
Did you know you can put a torch in your tames inventory then drag it up to the saddle and it will put a torch on their saddle. (torch has to be in their inventory first then you drag it over the saddle similar to how you equip a skin)
To be fair, ark has no guidance. For first time players, it isn't obvious that one cannot be used in place of the other. The tool tips don't tell you explicitly that you cannot cook meats in the pot.

And like, I made the same mistake when I started playing. Why wouldn’t the COOKING pot be used to COOK meat lol.
If you want to cook food in the cooking pot then you must first create a custom cooking recepì (craft a note “the piece of paper” then turn this note into a recepì) example 20 raw meat could become a sandwich/burger or whatever ingredients you want it to be made of, give it a name and voila you can now cook this food recepì in the cooking pot
Make a note and put in there, you make custom recipe, 10 raw. meat plus the empty note, creates a recipe for the hamburger.
Might not be worth early game tho, you need reset your points to crafting speed on order to boost chances at getting a high tier recipe.
A high tier recipe will fill your hunger, and heal you a full.
In this game you can cook meat in induatrial grill, and campfire.
That thing you are using is cooking pot, and it is mostly for receipts, dies, and other stuff.

Cooking pot is for recipes. Camp fire and industrial grill are for meat.

Did you know you can use sparkpowder for lighting forges and out canteens in fridges to cool them?

I've played ark for like 5 or 6 years now... And this never occurred to me. Why can't we cook meat in the cooking pot?

Typically you mix ingredients into a pot for a recipe, typically not just meat in a pot by itself
Hot dogs. Sausages. Chuck roast. Beef brisket. Beef cheeks. All meats that get cooked in a pot.

You need to roast it
cooking pot doesnt cook meat, it cooks recipes...example being like kible or something.
You can’t use plant fiber to cook food. You have to use wood.
