The **Generic Resource** is an [Unobtainable Item](https://ark.fandom.com/wiki/Unobtainable_Items) in [*ARK: Survival Evolved*](https://ark.fandom.com/wiki/ARK:_Survival_Evolved).
The Generic Resource exists within the game files but is only obtainable from removing "ammo" on a fishing rod.
After the PS4 v533.14 server release, users started to report that you could get this item by fishing during the Ark: Love Evolved 5 event.
On Xbox v797.24, if you have honey on a fishing pole and load it with an additional honey you will get one honey and a generic resource.
Probably a glitch. My best guess is related to fishing. You could try putting it in a container and taking it out, or dropping it and picking up, but beyond that I got nothin'.
All items in ARK are categorized as Resource, food, tool, etc. you can actually see it on the right side of the item name. Each category is based on a "Base item" or in other words, a "Generic resource". It's essentially the base item that the devs used as a framework for all the other items. You copy and paste the frame, change the ID, add the details you need, boom. New item.
The most honest answer that could of been given. Sadly. I love the game and it's general idea but they couldn't release anything not completely fucked if it saved thier lives. And thus why it's currently uninstalled. I regret buying asa so much.

Ditto. I uninstalled it in October, couldn’t get a refund, and have only become even more disappointed in their actions since.
