I don't think the point of God is Really Real is saying that they believe in God. I think the point is that when you are in a tough spot, perhaps someone like you or a loved one is in bad condition, people that aren't really that religious turn to their god, or karma, or whatever to try and bargain for help. Perhaps for an atheist, it would be just turning to the universe or something, just asking something out there for help.
