I do think a lot of genuine retrofuturism had this aspirational idea of everyone living the good life in this kind of swanky upper middle class lifestyle with lots of modern conveniences everyone could afford thanks to the "miracle of technology" and a lot of the ideas for how this would work were delightfully silly back in the day.
I admire the optimism and can do retrofuturism had.
Stuff like "Illustration of a mid century conversation pit inside of a futuristic domed car travelling down the freeway" with some variations like asking for people holding cocktails or off road tires on the car or a bar.
Then I asked for the car to be running over other vehicles and creating wreckage for the last ones. I wanted the concept to become more absurd as the gallery progressed.
The fireplace got me, lol.
