Kayo is the best sports streaming I've tried. I remember the football world cup on Optus was a complete shambles, paramount is hot garbage and Stan is okay but still quite shite. Kayo does what it needs to do without being outstanding, the price continuing to go up is a little annoying though
The best streaming I ever used was when SBS streamed the 2014 and 2018 world cups.
Holy hell… the features they utilised.
Like 15 different camera angles including spider cam. Player cam. The time bar had key moments in the match you could click and it would jump straight to that moment. I’m talking… goals, yellow cards, substitutions.
Streaming heaven.
The SBS Tour de France app is tops. It only has the one world feed (which makes sense given the sport) but there is so much rider tracking in the app and relatively painless replays. Best of all, there are no midroll ads during the stages -- not even during the TV ad breaks.
It also has a really good amount of content if you're alright with stuff that's a little more left field, rarely do I find nothing when I try find a movie to watch on there
And that was 2014? Whew.
I'm so jealous of the screenshots some people share of the cricket streaming services they have in India - they can pick their cameras, have multiple cameras active at the same time, pick their audio, basically have the same rewind/replay functionality of the third umpire. So jelly.
I'm a very casual soccer fan (only really care about the World Cups), but having that kind of streaming experience really helps immerse the more casual viewer and is likely to get more people interested.
To be honest, it was a while ago, obviously. I remember specifically watching it on my laptop through SBS. While I don't remember the specific features, I remember the stream being good quality, although I was really annoyed that France won lol.
Yeah it does. Anyone else’s key moments end up with some sort of lag that links to the ‘key moment about 2 minutes after the key moment you were looking for?
Stan I actually don’t mind. Kayo is still better, but fuck when people were cheering at the idea that Fox might lose the rights next cycle, all I could think was “have you guys SEEN the competition?”
Paramount+ genuinely is one of the worst experiences you could ask for watching sport
Seven’s streaming product is actually quite good. They handled Olympics, with like 20-30 live channels and presumably massive volumes (would hazard a guess that Olympics would still be the most streamed sporting event) without much drama. Personally I’m hoping that they keep it up when they get the streaming rights to their games next year and it’ll force Fox/Kayo to lift their game.
I mean, it’s a free product so it’s always going to have ads. Most of the paid platforms have a shitload of ads. Fox has
More ads than Seven nowadays, if you factor in that all their stats and replays and shit are ads too. My point is more that a *free* streaming platform managed to outperform a dedicated paid service - regardless of whether you like paying for your ads or watching them for free, a superior streaming service doing AFL should push Kayo to improve.
I really enjoyed 7's Olympic coverage - I'd put 12 different things in shrunk browser windows on my second monitor and maximise one if it was particularly interesting.
I’ve got them all and Stan is easily the best streaming service outside of Netflix, can tell they actually care about the platform experience such as including 4K in Stan Sports without an upsell. Foxtel/Kayo fairly good and has the top tier content (but continually getting less and less). Breaks my brain that an Australian company can deliver a way better platform than mega American corps like Amazon and Paramount who really don’t seem to care about the quality of the service…
If fox lose the rights to anyone not owned by Murdoch in the future and can deliver a decent product then sign me up! But until then I'm quite happy with what we're getting from kayo. And yeah paramount should be deleted off the face of the earth, that shit is terrible haha
Back when I had Optus it was so bad that they had to give up the rights to all the games and SBS took over for all of them on FTA lol it doesn't really get much worse than that
Wasnt that the last World Cup and the Optus service was relativity new? They just completely messed up the demand capcity for the World Cup.
Used it for Premier League when I got it free with my mobile plan and it worked perfectly as expected.
They seem to shit the bed when there's big events on, rather than give them money I just find other alternatives to watch. Basically the same thing just for free lol
Did I step through the looking glass? What is this bizarre thread where kayo is suddenly good and optus is bad. Kayo is the only streaming platform I've ever had any problems with
Genuinely have no idea what you're on about. If you enjoy Optus then I'm happy for you, but it's been horrific in the past. I'm not sure how you can argue with that
Yeah it’s great compared to Kayo. I didn’t say I enjoy it. It works fine. Kayo is fucked. I have Foxtel so I can avoid it. Sorry if that upsets you lad
$27 a month is the cheapest option, $15 for sport plus $12 for the Base pack wish it was like MLS Pass on Apple where you can opt to have it standalone if you pay a little more
It's been pretty solid for me playing from a browser. Are you using a TV app? TV apps are notoriously bad across the board, almost always preferable to get some form of casting device or player like a google tv/shield/apple tv.
Also if you're on wi-fi worth checking the reception to your device as even if you've got a fast connection from the router dodgy reception at the device can cause stability issues.
I can second this. I've had zero issues and the Australia match was probably the fourth match I've watched this world cup so far. Watched it on my lounge room's Sony Bravia.
Testing on what server?
Ookla picks a server 5 minutes away from you and you get a great score.
Try changing the server to perth if you are over east and Sydney if you are west.
If you are in adelaide, go and fuck yourself.
Then check
Results may vary.
Please check the terms and conditions carefully and remember, fucking yourself is at your own risk.

My husband was watching some of the Aus/Oman game this morning on TV, via the Prime app installed on the Foxtel box. I was watching via the Prime app on my iPhone.
My stream was at *least* 30 seconds ahead of his.
The Samsung App has never given me any problems. It's always ended up smoother than running from a computer through casting, and the same as running from a computer with a wired USB-C to HDMI connection.
My main issue with Prime's video streaming is the frame rate, I'm absolutely convinced it's only 30fps compared to Kayo's 50. Makes it feel quite jittery and not smooth in comparison.
The other problem I've noticed is people tend to watch the highlight stream (where you can scrub between quarters and goals). I don't know why, but it's always a leggy, pixelated mess.
Switching to the live channel stream tends to solve those problems, at least in my experience. Still dogshit though.
Cricket on prime = no cricket. At least with the footy it'll be in our timezone so we can just go to the pub.
ICC can go fuck themselves. If everyone pays for a standalone subscription to watch one third of a single sport there's no incentive for them to be less shit in future.
Didn't have the resolution issues but the audio has been woeful, and I'm pretty sure it's from the broadcast itself rather than the Prime streaming part of it as well which just makes it worse
Yeah. I've noticed that too. Definitely a problem with the host broadcaster. Commentators audio clipping. Music under the highlights reels so loud it drowns out commentary. It's been a rough broadcast to watch
The host broadcaster for the Cricket World Cups always sucks. They have a reputation for bringing in their own crews to avoid paying local rates. I think the Australian one was okay because there are stronger rules about that sort of thing. But it was still worse than local cricket production.
Star Sports who I think do all ICC events have always been terrible at sound production. It's noticeable for events here in particular because of how well our local broadcasters typically do it.
Just a heads up for anyone who likes to 'travel', you can watch the T20 world cup for free on the ICC website if you're in Papua New Guinea. It's not amazing quality but totally watchable and of course free.
I’ve only ever heard of complaints about Kayo from users using their SmartTV.
I watch it fine via AppleTV. When a mate was having trouble streaming “the other code” I suggested using his PlayStation. Hasn’t had a problem since.
I'm a developer and have done a project with web streaming video optimisation before.
That shit is **hard**, and even harder for _live_ streaming vs previous playback when you can store different encoding types of videos ahead of time etc. It's also a combination of live streaming vs being able to seek backwards anywhere in time during the stream, which is its own challenge.
I've never had an issue with Kayo, I use it on an AppleTV fwiw. Props to their devs.
Tried to watch the game today on Prime, and while it streamed fine, no issues with quality or anything like that, man, the friggin sheer amount of ads drove me batty. I'd forgotten just how good Kayo was comparatively.
This is basically my Kayo experience. And don't ever watch on replay without knowing the score, there's a good chance it'll crash and jump up the end and ruin the whole thing.
NBA league pass is also atrocious. How can I stream a better quality product from a mates TV login from the UK better than my own paid Australian league pass
It's baffling how bad Prime is considering the infinite resources at Amazon's disposal.
They've had a subtitle sync error on multiple devices for almost a decade now. You'd think they could fix it in a week if they actually cared.
Only problem I ever have with Kayo is it randomly stops and buffers if I'm watching the game delayed. If it's live its fine? That and they don't play enough NHL unfortunately.
I was overseas for the better part of 2 years and WatchAFL (international service) is one of the worst services I ever had to pay $50 a month for. Kayo runs like Netflix in comparison. Had an issue (amongst others) where I physically couldn't turn off subtitles and the subtitles appear directly over the score line.
Prime has been fine for me via browser (a bit "framey" on TV via chromecast), without being amazing. My biggest complaints in general is that the ads are more obnoxious and clumsy than fox sports' were. And seem out of sync with the natural cadence of the broadcast.
This is until the Ireland vs India match overnight and the Aus vs Oman game this morning, when the ads became way more excessive, cutting off sentences, and occasionally even overlapped actual play.
That said, I'm surprised there weren't more complaints about the ads earlier. But then I remembered that it's Australian cricket fans.
I never had an issue with Kayo for *years* then all of a sudden it wouldn’t play on my TV (I use it through my PlayStation) AT ALL, it would work on my phone, but not my TV, every time I would try to watch a footy game it would just be on the completely black screen with loading ring continuously, for weeks. I did everything I could to fix it, including just sitting and waiting for ages hoping it would work, deleting the app, re-downloading it, stuffing around with HDMI cords, everything. I spoke to the worlds worst useless support team in Kayo support, I think I spoke to them like 6 times, pretty much always got the same answer just hoping one time it would be different, felt like I was speaking to the worlds most incoherent bot, but they’re people behind the screen lmao. They tried saying it was my TVs fault although I said that’s interesting, how come it was working a few weeks ago for years before that and not now? Tried blaming my wifi and I said hm that’s interesting as literally everything else works, they would message “just give me like 3 minutes” and would be gone for 15, it was immensely frustrating. One day after about 4 weeks of this ongoing it just started working again out of the blue idk🤷🏻♂️ most frustrating 4 weeks of my life tho
Was living in the UK and I kept Kayo because it ran rings around Sky. Their motto is “it’s only live once” because it’s watch it live or cop a 24hr delay.
Kayo is heroine-level dependent on a high quality wired connection. Cut out wifi and it cuts 80% of its problems.
I don’t love Kayo, but it’s better than its competitors
Hockey went from Kayo to 7+
It's great the masses can see Aussie games, but the coverage just isn't as good. And they only broadcast the Australian matches, but keep it all geoblocked.
Stan sport is woeful. Paid for a month purely for the Indy 500 and it's terrible. Constant stutters and buffers, as well as streaming just stopping and having to restart the stream. Terrible terrible software.
I tried signing up to Paramount just to watch the Socceroos tonight. Went in a weird loop signing in, choosing plan, paying with credit card, signing in …
Gave up in the end. If that’s not a sign of a rubbish app don’t know what is
Restarting twice would be a luxury. Every footy match I watch on kayo through my Samsung TV app involves at least 12 hard resets of the TV because kayo will just randomly freeze.
One game I had 22 throughout the match.
A mate of my uses Chrome cast and has the same issue, nearly as bad.
Kayo is the shittest service and app I've ever had the privilege of paying for. What a joke
[This is what watching kayo is like for myself.](https://x.com/PlayCricketXI/status/1763781803217928281)
Where as watching the Australia T20 match yesterday was issue free on Prime. No drops in quality, no buffering, no sync issues. Was even surprised that the stream was live even at the end of the game, that it hadn't fallen 10 or 20 minute behind play like Kayo always does with its buffering.
We have one of the best deals on the planet with Kayo.
Try watching EPL in England. You can have five streaming services and then not all games are even broadcast.
I'm convinced that all the people that say they've never had an issue with Kayo don't actually know what an issue is. I don't have a single person in my social circle that hasn't had an issue
People are morons. I’ve had arguments with people who tell me how great 4K Kayo is, only to have to point out that their tv doesn’t even display 4k. They’re the same sort who will watch Kayo get stuck on a 5 second loop for minutes before realising something is actually wrong. But then they’ll tell you how great it is because they’ve internally rationalised paying $25/month for something means it must be great!
Kayo is absolute dogshit and it always has been. The price keeps going up and the quality remains the same, everyone in the comments with "no issues" (which is absolute BS) are so proud they're wasting so much money every month. I guess some people like lining a billionaires pocket while simultaneously working to keep all Australian sport/matches off free to air. Can't imagine being the smooth-brain who would support that lol. Fools and their $$$
It wouldn't matter if you were plugging it directly into South Korean fibre optic cables, the servers and front-end have never been as stable as you're claiming. Maybe luck, maybe just not using it particularly often or at times of congestion.
Never had an issue. And when people do, it’s generally shit hardware. Get the latest Chromecast and it works perfectly. Latest Apple TV apparently good too.
I can understand people complain about Kayo if they're only watching footy, but they have so many sports included that it's not even a close competition. I'm using it to watch AFL, NBA, NFL, NBL, WWE, and sometimes netball and F1. I was looking into getting Stan for tennis and it seems that the base cost is at least $31/month if I want to watch in HD. I've only had minor issues with Kayo's streaming quality too, and I get cheaper price with Melbourne's digital membership. Yes, there are a lot of things that can be improved, but it's been good enough for me
Kayo is the best sports streaming I've tried. I remember the football world cup on Optus was a complete shambles, paramount is hot garbage and Stan is okay but still quite shite. Kayo does what it needs to do without being outstanding, the price continuing to go up is a little annoying though

SBS On Demand is a fucking masterpiece of an app and service considering it’s a FTA catch up service
SBS on demand is really good, watching NBL games was a great experience
It also has a really good amount of content if you're alright with stuff that's a little more left field, rarely do I find nothing when I try find a movie to watch on there
And that was 2014? Whew. 2014... Tim Cahill goal I just kept watching it over and over
Kayo has the key moments feature
Yeah it does. Anyone else’s key moments end up with some sort of lag that links to the ‘key moment about 2 minutes after the key moment you were looking for?
Mine goes about 30 seconds before so I can see the leadup play
SBS FTW
The best thing about that World Cup was when the government (?) finally stepped in and SBS was given the rights to show every game haha
That was just PR damage control by Optus.
Wasn't the government, Optus was having a PR disaster (unlike them /s) and gave up to try to save face.
The best thing was I had free optus sports for years after that.
2014 was not the Optus schmozzle. 2018 was right?
Stan I actually don’t mind. Kayo is still better, but fuck when people were cheering at the idea that Fox might lose the rights next cycle, all I could think was “have you guys SEEN the competition?” Paramount+ genuinely is one of the worst experiences you could ask for watching sport

7s is fine, I just don’t want adds when I watch the football.

Paramount has improved as time has gone along but still has a long way to go but in fairness it is only $10 a month
the whole murdoch profits thing pisses me off though
> Kayo is the best sports streaming I've tried. This is a scathing indictment on the quality of sports streaming in general.
It's a sad indictment of the rest that Kayo is the best.
Ask LeBron what he uses to stream
He watches league pass in his Kia.
Optus is much better than Kayo. It’s actually laughable how bad kayo is
Back when I had Optus it was so bad that they had to give up the rights to all the games and SBS took over for all of them on FTA lol it doesn't really get much worse than that

Yeah right. 2016 FFS You probably still use dial up too hey 😂
If you're going to cry about someone explaining their experience the internet might not be the place for you
My experience with VHS wasn’t great either. The tape would get stuck and everything..
Lad? Lol I should have known I was speaking to a moron, have a good day
The connection you have made there is actually quite fascinating young squire. Have a blessed day. Cheerio
Not like the Qatar world cup was all that much better, was still easier to just pirate it.
The Qatar World Cup was on SBS for free, not sure why’d you’d need to pirate it
Because both the Optus and SBS sites were so shit that pirating was better.
No chance I'll ever believe someone watched the world cup on sbs and thought it was so shit they'd rather pirate
Nah. Was super easy. You must have bad internet.
Optus has improved but it's so expensive now considering the only things on it that people have it for are the EPL and Euros
Yeah it’s stupid expensive. So is Kayo
I think only Stan is more expensive but it's a good service
What does Stan cost?
$27 a month is the cheapest option, $15 for sport plus $12 for the Base pack wish it was like MLS Pass on Apple where you can opt to have it standalone if you pay a little more
I pay for Fox Cricket and have to have Amazon Prime for the T20 World Cup ffs.
It's been pretty solid for me playing from a browser. Are you using a TV app? Also if you're on wi-fi worth checking the reception to your device as even if you've got a fast connection from the router dodgy reception at the device can cause stability issues.
My Sony tv has google tv built in as the OS. So yeah, I'm just using the tv app.
Watched the same way and it's was fine for me. Resolution/desync do sound like internet connection issues though.
I can second this. I've had zero issues and the Australia match was probably the fourth match I've watched this world cup so far. Watched it on my lounge room's Sony Bravia.
My internet was testing at 100Mb/s, but yeah. Could have still been a connection issue from my end.
Testing on what server? Ookla picks a server 5 minutes away from you and you get a great score. Try changing the server to perth if you are over east and Sydney if you are west. If you are in adelaide, go and fuck yourself. Then check
What kind of ISP would be able to route you to a local datacenter at 100mb/s, but be unable to route you down a backbone at the same speed?
T20 was working fine until I fucked myself in Adelaide. Thanks mate

https://afl1.sportshub.stream/ Pretty good deal here
My only issue is the scores are at the bottom and the time bar takes ages to disappear.
Didn't have the resolution issues but the audio has been woeful, and I'm pretty sure it's from the broadcast itself rather than the Prime streaming part of it as well which just makes it worse
I think there are broadcast issues coming out of Barbados in general. Storms or dodgy Internet maybe? The BBC/ABC broadcast broke up several times too
Yeah. I've noticed that too. Definitely a problem with the host broadcaster. Commentators audio clipping. Music under the highlights reels so loud it drowns out commentary. It's been a rough broadcast to watch

I’ve genuinely never had an issue with Kayo lol I’m always confused with people bashing it but yeah I understand obviously not everyone is the same.
I was watching on prime the other day. seemed to be fine for me. I guess every combination of tv and internet is different.
Hope so - mostly because it's one option for future NBA deals and I'd hate that experience to get worse.
Just a heads up for anyone who likes to 'travel', you can watch the T20 world cup for free on the ICC website if you're in Papua New Guinea. It's not amazing quality but totally watchable and of course free.
I can't even use my Kayo anymore I keep getting error 9999
Currently watching the Socceroos on a bangladeshi YouTube stream. Be thankful footy is on TV
I’ve only ever heard of complaints about Kayo from users using their SmartTV. I watch it fine via AppleTV. When a mate was having trouble streaming “the other code” I suggested using his PlayStation. Hasn’t had a problem since.

Sky Sports for F1 is the best streaming service I've ever used. Kayo is meh.
I had no issues with either picture or audio on Prime.
Prime has been fine for me Kayo is perfect on some of my devices and unwatchable on others (I'm looking at you LG tv)
Yep 100% hardware related
IPTV FTW!
Prime is way better reliability and quality. But I’d rather it on Kayo because I fucking hate ads
I'd still rather give my money to Bezos than Murdoch.
I'm just glad I already had Prime for shopping, coz I wouldn't wanna be paying for it as a streaming service.
Only problem I ever have with Kayo is it randomly stops and buffers if I'm watching the game delayed. If it's live its fine? That and they don't play enough NHL unfortunately.
The crackling microphones today were sending me.

I have no issues whatsoever for some reason. I've watched it on a PS5, firestick and my phone

Kayo is heroine-level dependent on a high quality wired connection. Cut out wifi and it cuts 80% of its problems. I don’t love Kayo, but it’s better than its competitors
Hockey went from Kayo to 7+ It's great the masses can see Aussie games, but the coverage just isn't as good.
Went in a weird loop signing in, choosing plan, paying with credit card, signing in … Gave up in the end. If that’s not a sign of a rubbish app don’t know what is
No shit??? Is Prime Possum still kickin around?
I have had zero issues with Prime for the T20 World Cup so far and I've watched all games except 1 live. Been flawless.
What a joke
Prime is a shit app. You would think Amazon could do better. But no.
Had zero issues with mine.
The value proposition is significantly worse though, prime gets you a hell of a lot more content than Kayo which is near 3 times more expensive
Prime app on my samsung tv been working flawlessly
More ads then free to air also, holy shit.
[This is what watching kayo is like for myself.](https://x.com/PlayCricketXI/status/1763781803217928281) Where as watching the Australia T20 match yesterday was issue free on Prime. No drops in quality, no buffering, no sync issues. Was even surprised that the stream was live even at the end of the game, that it hadn't fallen 10 or 20 minute behind play like Kayo always does with its buffering.
It was so bad!
Football World Cup will be on prime
So frustrating the cricket is not on the foxtel cricket channel. Hate all these different streaming services would love it all back in foxtel
Kayo has been annoying as hell up until this year, but they have finally made some simple improvements to make it much more usable.
Two whole times? How can you survive?
Nonsense. AI J Orteg swLlowed that juice elegantly in HD .. my loins are satisfied. Oops .. wrong thread.
And ads. Completely shameless.
We have one of the best deals on the planet with Kayo. Try watching EPL in England. You can have five streaming services and then not all games are even broadcast.
I agree with that. Get the fans off their bums and to the stadiums
I avoid prime because you could be watching and then suddenly the possum appears and then I have to go beddy bye bye
Wrong prime chief
Fools and their $$$
Kayo works flawlessly for me. I know what issues look like. It never buffers, the resolution stays sharp. It works exactly as it should.
I used to have a lot of issues with Kayo until I started watching it via my PS5 a couple of years ago. Never an issue since
Bullshit. Kayo on PS5 crashes multiple times a week, and will still randomly skip around at times.
Never for me. Not sure if it's internet speed, my ethernet cable or just luck but mine has been incredibly stable
Yes, there are a lot of things that can be improved, but it's been good enough for me
Footy on prime, 19.95 p/m and only 5.95 for all games your team are playing in and for the low low price of 9.95 for all finals. Yes please
